Hello there and welcome to Tuesday’s edition of the Levy Letter. Wasn’t it
bitter last night? I think it must be time to dig out the gloves and scarves!

Colour me Red!

This may interest you if you are on the dating circuit. I’ve been reading today
that women who wear red, may find their date more attentive and generous,
scientists have suggested.
The University of Rochester suggests that study supports evidence linking
colour to attractiveness. In the study men said they would spend more money on
a woman pictured in red, in comparison to the same woman pictured wearing a
blue outfit. Traditionally red has been linked with romance. The researchers
say that their study is clear evidence that the colour red makes men feel more
amorous - even if this is only on a subconscious level. In the study the male
volunteers were told they had $100 to spend and shown a picture of their
‘date’. They were then asked how much of that money they were willing to spend.
On average, wearing red resulted in a more expensive night out. Well there you
go ladies, if you want to be spoiled on a night out, then dare to wear red!

Toilet Trouble

A passenger on a high speed French train found himself having to be rescued by
firemen after his arm was sucked down on an on-board toilet. The 26 year old
was trying to grab his mobile phone which had fallen into the toilet bowl, and
found his arm trapped when the phone went down the suction system. The train
stopped for two hours while firemen cut through the train’s pipe work. The man
was then carried away by emergency services, with the toilet still attached to
his arm. An eye witness saw him come out on a stretcher. Oh dear! Another
reason not to use train toilets I guess!

Bands on Tour

Rock legends Led Zeppelin are planning to tour and record again but without
their front-man Robert Plant. Bassist John Paul Jones has said that a new
singer is being sought as Robert Plant has ruled himself out. He said that he
and guitarist Jimmy Page and drummer Jason Bonham did not want a replica of
Plant. The last time that Led Zeppelin played a show was in December 2007 at
the 02 arena. So it looks like good news for fans!

For those of you who prefer pop music, Take That have announced a new tour. I
must say that out of all the bands that have reformed and re-launched in the
past couple of years Take That have been doing really well. Whereas some bands
have just toured with their Greatest Hits, Take That are continuing with
releasing new songs and performing new shows. Their new single will be released
on the 24th November and a new album will come out on the 1st December. Their
new tour will see them play eight dates in June 2009 and will perform in
Sunderland, Cardiff, Glasgow, Manchester, and London.

Well that’s all from the Levy Letter today. I do hope you will join me for
tonight’s Look North at 6.30pm on BBC One.

Take care,

Peter
