Hello there, Peter here on a cold but sunny day in Hull today. Hope you
remembered to put your clocks back and didn’t get caught out. It’s always
remarkable how the season and temperature seems to change overnight with the
time change and it is definitely a day for winter woollies today!

Hull City did it again! 3-0 Against West Bromwich Albion away……. The fairy
tale continues. It will be a tough week for City playing both Chelsea at home
and Manchester United away this week. “Strictly” lost Mark Foster, the
Olympic swimmer, and Cherie lives to fight another day, despite her slip at the
start of her routine.

Heavyweight Wedding

Did you see that the World’s heaviest man has married his girlfriend in front
of TV cameras and 400 guests in Mexico. Manuel Uribe was taken to his wedding
on the bed he has been unable to leave for the last six years, towed by a
truck, in his home town of Monterrey. The 43-year-old tipped the scales at
560kg (88 stones) in 2006, but has since shed around 250kg (39 stones). A
tearful Mr Uribe married Claudia Solis, 38, in a ceremony filmed by a US TV
channel. Mr Uribe's custom-made bed was decorated with a canopy, flowers and
gold-trimmed bows at it was towed by a truck through the streets of Monterrey
to a local hall for the civil service, Instead of a first dance, the pair are
reported to have sat together, holding hands and swaying to the song and they
didn’t have a cake at the reception!

Ricky Gervais’ Dental Divide
What do you feel about having a Hollywood smile? British teeth are not like
American teeth. Hollywood smiles are pearly white paragons of straightness.
British teeth might be described as having character. So much character, in
fact, that Ricky Gervais says one US journalist complimented him on being
prepared to wear false teeth for his role as an English dentist in his latest
film, Ghost Town. Only he didn't. Ricky said "He was horrified that I could
have such horrible real teeth. It's like the biggest difference between the
Brits and the Americans, they are obsessed with perfect teeth," says Gervais.
Unlike many British stars hoping to make it big across the Atlantic, Gervais
hasn't bought himself a Hollywood Smile. But what is it about the bright white
and perfectly straight teeth of Los Angeles that Americans love - and expect of
their public figures? There has been much speculation over whether Gordon Brown
has had a smile makeover. Until now it has been considered rat!
her un-British to go for an upgrade, says Professor Steele. Martin
Fallowfield, a cosmetic dentist and executive board member of the British
Dentist Association, says "Quite often teeth whitening is a 40th or 50th
birthday present, a procedure that can be done in a dentist's chair in two
hours for about £650. A more intensive "smile makeover" - perhaps involving
veneers, crowns and reconstruction work - can take months and cost anything
from £2,000 to £10,000." As for the likes of Ricky Gervais, it makes sense to
stick to his guns, says Mr Fallowfield. "A lot of people in his place would
have had their teeth fixed in this day and age. But for comedians, it's good to
look unique." I think I would like to keep the unique British look - Keep
smiling!
Take care, bye
Peter
