I haven't measured both arms with the
same wheels on. However, a set of 14" Globe "Bathurst" pattern wheels
off a 240k fitted nicely onto my 1600. I assume they are pretty
close to the same outer edge profile.

I'm running 40 offset rims on standard 1600 arms and the
spacers are not only required to maintain original track, they are also
necessary to stop the rim from rubbing against inside of the arm. This was
with 15x6.5" rims. If running 16 or 17" rims, this would probably not be a
problem as it was only out by a few mm's.
Do you know if the inside of the 240k arms are shaped
differently to the 1600? If so I would be doubly
interested!
David
I picked up some free 240k arms today. I plan to
fit them to the 1600 so that a +40mm offset wheel will fit perfectly inside
the guard without spacers. If the 40mm wider track is true and 20mm each side,
it should work perfectly :)

I can confirm that the 240K rear trailing arms
bolt onto the 1600 crossmember. They give you about 40mm wider
track from memory. Only other problem I can see is the shock absorbers
are "reverse engineered" - the mushroom rubbers are at the bottom and the
horizontal bolt on the top.

Yeah thanks Mal. If you can check the parts
books re: A-arms 240K / 510 compatability that'd be good. It's only a
rumour I've heard before.

Hello,
window washer bottle..Head
lights.
Rear wheel clys are bigger than 1600.
Dont forget the rear springs if its a coupe
or has IRS.
I think the A arms are much the same but I
can check parts books if you wish.
All rear A arms I've seen here are as
listed in SSS as spot welded and seam welded anyway.

Hi all,
I scored a cheap 1976 240K automatic. It
works fine and I drove it home and I am slowly dismantling it for
parts to suit my 1600. I am keeping the struts and
hubs/discs/calipers, dash instruments, starter motor, diff, output
shafts, one spare fuel pump, steering wheel, rear "A" arms (I hear
they fit a 510 and are stronger??) centre console, dash dimmer
control, scuff plates, window winders, handbrake and cables, rear and
side vision mirrors and some other bits and peices. Quite alot of good
stuff on the 240K for 1600/510 upgrades. If anyone knows of any other
good bits to remove that I have missed, let me know.
Anyway, if anyone in Perth needs a good
L24 motor and carby, 240K bumpers (excellent condition), rear tail
lights (round type), grill, headlights, badges, interior trim (great
roof lining and seats) or body panels let me know. Email me off
list at;
Cheers,
Rob
