Jet fuel is NOT #2 diesel -- it's more like gasoline and doesn't have the proper lubricating qualities for use in diesel injection pumps.
IIRC Jet A is more like kerosene with a portion of gasoline thrown in. (Something that is awfully close to a mix blessed in the owner's manual at one time.) Also, the Bosch inline pumps that MB used are probably the least sensitive to fuel lubricity of the pumps out there. The guts are lubricated by engine oil, not fuel. I recall that MB touted their indirect-injection motors as being very tolerant of weird fuels, as might be found in the backwoods of Africa. If I had a free source of such fuel I'd use it in a heartbeat, while shopping the U-Pull for a spare injection pump just in case. -- Jim
