What if his magic (or force) system involved giving you a number of points that you could spend under certain circumstances when you didn't like a dice roll that went against you? So someone with "combat magic" could reroll any roll during combat. Someone with "mental magic" could reroll any roll that involved thinking (in the case of the SRD or MSRD this would be Int or Wis checks, skill checks based (or feat enhanced checks) based on these abilities, SRD/MSRD spell checks involving these abilities or saves based on these abilities). Any other general magic or power could also be defined in the same way. "Movement magic" that would allow rerolls if you were moving. "Healing magic" that involved using your power to cancel out a previous roll that damaged any character. Etc etc. If this was all done in a general way (without mentioning the abilities by name, but allowing readers to infer what the rules affect for themselves), it could apply to Action! System as much as the SRD or MSRD. I think maybe this is the sort of system that Ryan meant.
