I don't think that advancement method is necessary to keep the flavor
and attraction of Earthdawn. It's almost a chicken-and-egg point... do you
advance in skills to get the level or do you advance in level to get the
skills? You could do Earthdawn using the D&D3e advancement system without
disturbing it much, I believe.
