I've been doing OSG and OSG-related development on Vista for over a
month now and have not encountered any problems. CMake also runs great
on Vista for me.

Perhaps if you list your troubles, we can find solutions? As I said, I
have had exactly zero problems using Vista for OSG work. Any troubles
I had with Vista have either just required a slightly altered workflow
or some tweaking in the settings. (and even those were very minimal
compared to switching from, say, Windows 98 to Windows 2000 - in other
words, non-NT-based to NT based).
