Did you do a custom install of OS 9?  The ethernet port extension wasn't
installed on any of my Macs using a standard OS 9 install. Check your AppleTalk
control panel and see if ethernet is an option. You need that selected and the
TCP/IP control panel also set to ethernet.

BTW: If you installed 9.0x, you should go to Apple's site and download the free
9.1 upgrade. Much more stable.
