If you have the Ethernet selection in AT and TCP/IP then the correct driver is installed. They only are listed if their respective hardware is present. > >>> When I plug the cable from the router into the 8500's ethernet port, I do >>> get a link light - but only a link light. If it doesn't report an error upon switching to Ethernet then it is seeing the cable. It's still possible that the 10BaseT transceiver built into the 8500 is damaged. It could be seeing the signal from the switch (in the router) but unable to properly read 10BaseT data or it could be having trouble transmitting (even though the link light comes on on the switch). Try disconnecting all other devices including the WAN, connect the 8500, switch AT to Ethernet, close the AT control panel, open Chooser and select AppleShare. This should cause a periodic pulsing of the activity light for that port on the switch. > >> Make sure your TCP/IP settings are correct, you're using the ethernet >> port, the addressing is set correctly manual or DHCP probably, as the >> case may be, and that TCP/IP is turned on! >> >> If it's manual, make sure you have a unique address on your subnet. > >Yes, I have tried it both ways. > >Also, TCP/IP is not set to "Load Only When Needed." > >One thing I noticed when I set it to DHCP is that it's getting the wrong >subnet - 255.255.0.0 instead of 255.255.255.0 - and a 169 IP address >(instead of 192). It gets set to an address in this default range. -- Clark Martin Redwood City, CA, USA Macintosh / Internet Consulting [EMAIL PROTECTED] "I'm a designated driver on the Information Super Highway" -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
