What if he formatted from a floppy with Win98's format program?  Can he format that 
way to start from scratch and then use his WinXP
CD to format and install?  I don't know if you can do that with WinXP and an NTFS 
drive, just asking...  Dave, do you have a WinXP
CD or one of those OEM CD's that is supposed to bring your system back to the way it 
was when you first bought it?

Ooooweee, I'm in trouble because I have every update they've recommended (other than 
that one that I had to reinstall when my system
slowed to a crawl - and I didn't even have Norton!)...

What kind of info does MS get off your computer?
