----------------------------------------------------------- New Message on Pituitary Chat
----------------------------------------------------------- From: Willard1H Message 10 in Discussion Tina writes: "Apathy syndrome is much more common with Pit patients then depression but often misdiagnosed at depression. Treatment for Depression will not work for people with Apathy syndrome." APATHY SYNDROME!!! That's exactly how I described my Easter Sunday morning. I emailed a group of friends a 9-1-1 about my gloom, but my exact words were, "I cried all the way to church, and during the services. It's not so much "deep dark depression, excessive misery," as apathy -- I just DON'T CARE. As Mama used to repeat near the end of her nine years of suffering with ovarian cancer, "Whatever." I just found a 2002 Journal of Neuropsychiatry report, Apathy and Pituitary Disease: It Has Nothing to Do With Depression. Wow, this study is pure GOLD. It explains my bad housekeeping, poor bill-paying habits, and my "toxic waste dump" of a refrigerator. I've never been so excited about APATHY in my life (think about that!). Thanks for every one who has commented on Pit Chat being "too depressing." Tina and Minnie make great points about how the board saves our lives and our sanity. Mommyof8, Diane and Cat also get me inspired to keep posting to our "family" message board. You are my lifesavers. Thanks again, Tina. I need to start researching this Apathy Syndrome at once. Well, pretty soon. Maybe I'll get around to it in a week or so. [OH, NO! It's starting again!] Willard ----------------------------------------------------------- To stop getting this e-mail, or change how often it arrives, go to your E-mail Settings. http://groups.msn.com/PituitaryChat/_emailsettings.msnw Need help?
