Here are my answers:
> What got you started in Linux?
When our company switched its servers to Linux back in 1998, it got me curious
as to why would they do such a thing (I was: " hmmm... most of the admin guys
were die-hard MS freaks, what changed their mind about WinNT?")...
> Who influenced you into using Linux, if any?
Barny Chiw, our company's network administrator...
> Where did you first learn about Linux?
the 'Net... I came across some articles there pertaining to Linux
and how people say that it is better than WinNT...
> How did you get your copy of Linux?
I burned my own copy of RH 5.2 from the office CDs... :-)
> When did you first hear about Linux?
late 1998...
> When did you actually use Linux for the first time?
September 1999, when I was assigned to study Linux and act as the net
admin of the company when the real guy's not around...
> When did you install Linux on your own 'puter?
sometime October 1999... that was Slackware 4...
> Why did you decide to try Linux out?
Out of curiosity (see "What got you started in Linux?") and necessity
(see "When did you actually use Linux for the first time?")...
> Why do you still use Linux? or Why do you no longer use Linux?
I still use Linux... now I know why they yanked out WinNT from the
servers and installed Linux... longer server uptimes, more control
over the operating system... It's free, as compared to another OS
that charges us for every user connected to the network... It runs
faster than NT at some aspects... The source is available, so I
have the chance to take a look at how it works...
> What is your favorite thing about Linux?
It lets me tinker with the configuration right there and then... no
registry to mess around with, no GUI to hide details in the settings...
everything's out there, and could be edited using a simple text editor,
one that's not hidden in a database that could only be viewed by a
separate viewer app...
