Missing the point here.  I wasn't advocating something like LFS.  I was
advocating modifying an existing distro (mdk or rhat) to suit the needs of
a normal office.  It would include pre-integrated versions of

LTSP, central authentication via pam/ldap/samba, staroffice productivity,
possibly a simple web based payroll system.. that can run on existing
hardware/

As another post said, "where do we start?"  My answer to that is create a
viable alternative first, and then do the lobbying when it's done, and
implemented in several pilot sites.  In my mind there is no distro that
can be thought of as tailored towards the small/medium office integration.

It's all in the form of "it's all there in the distro, you just have to do
the configuration and research to put them all together in one cohesive
system"

I'm saying let's do that, package it in a modified distro, and deploy it,
make an example of it.
