Hi I was just looking (in CS) at some splashing water in a 1Ds picture that has a bit too much clipping of highlights. The red halos are there, but standout all the more since they cover an area surrounding the highlight that has been darkened by sharpening. By turning down the sharpening and using the re-sampling option to produce an image at 6144x4088 the effect is lessened. My own feeling is that clipping of the highlights is what causes most of the effect. Where I bracketed exposures I have found that the best images have come from the underexposed shots. The increased noise in shadows has not been a problem. The 1Ds seems to handle a good range - sun shining on a rushing stream in a dark forest was ok :-) Since I rarely use a tripod outdoors (heretic! burn him! :-) and there is quite a bit of subject movement in mountain streams, I suspect these may not be an issue :-) bye for now Keith Cooper Northlight Images http://northlight-images.co.uk Photography - Digital Imaging - Apple Mac Consultancy Tel +44 (0)116 291 9092 Mobile +44 (0)780 162 9397 =============================================================== GO TO http://www.prodig.org for ~ GUIDELINES ~ un/SUBSCRIBING ~ ITEMS for SALE
