Many thanks to all who replied to this thread. The solution was to Hide All nets as well as changing ALL polygons to 'no hatching'. This sped things up a great deal with no noticeable pause on R's and C's , however there are still pauses when dealing with a many pin devices. Hopefully this will be fixed on the next release...
