DXP Demo does allow this in schematic, just drop a component on top of a
wire and it will automatically cut and insert for you.  Just one of the
many nice improvements I've seen in the 10 mins I just evaluated it for.

Am I missing something here? Yes I can add a vertex, handy for
re-routing, 
but I cannot select or remove a segment in order to insert a component.
