I acquired this information from Vermont Folk Medicine or New England Folk Medicine written by a MD who, at that time, still practiced, home visits. Its never left me down either. All summer I was having a terrible time developing gas that would stay trapped in me until I got in bed at night then it would start coming out. It was causing me chills and sweats all day and I tried all kinds of things like bean-o, gas-x, digestive enzyme tablets, etc., but nothing helped.
