On further investigation there is a fault in the wiring loom. The crank sensor
is on a sub loom, following the wires back from that we find there is a short
between the two wires in the main loom so it would appear that the ecu is not
getting a pulse. Replacing those wires at the moment. This still doesn't answer
the problem of the fuel pump not running. I don't recall seeing any labels on
the loom, other than the ones that were put on to indicate where all the plugs
went. I didn't get a wiring diagram with it, though my brother has bought a
mondeo manual which appears to fit. Unfortunately I am at work in Wokingham and
the car is in my brothers workshop in Tidmarsh. Texts and calls flying back and
forth!!

The ECU should run the fuel pump for a few seconds as soon as the ignition
is turned on.
If it's not then it's not happy.

I can help but i need as many details as you can give me off the engine
wiring loom and the adaptor loom you have.
Did it come with any wiring diagram ?
