I think fit in single layer DVD is important. I suspect some of the users do 
not have access to hardware that easily (i.e. dual layer DVD burner).
I second the fact that you have to be able to use a ReadOnly media, verify the 
hash/key on few different machine before installing.
I would provide default template that you support (fedora still?). It is not 
too hard to get another template and re-create sys-net and sys-firewall if you 
want another distro for these... (disposable + minimal for these would be 
better).
Window manager: it might be more important to keep all the one you support. I 
hope XFCE is still the default.


I can't comment on the boot side, out of my comfort zone... maybe you could 
have 2 downloads... people use the basic one and only download the other one if 
the have problems or if they want to multiboot... but it's more work for you...
