Well, Ken it is good to hear that you don't send your son to public school. If  and when I can afford to do the same, I will again.

All this talk against taking Rangers out of the church and into the streets is about as far away from evangelical as you can get. It is also contrary to the modus operandi that Christ taught and exemplified, and I'm disappointed in those who are expressing these views, especially from someone who has been so involved in Urban Rangers and NULCs, what do you think sidewalk sunday school is?  (Forward THAT ONE to my distict commander, Dr. "You Know Who")
The original intent of Rangers was to keep 15-17 year old boys from leaving church. Since then, a major breakdown of the family has occured, and Rangers was there to meet the need that the broken family unit was unable to.
IF Royal Rangers had stuck with it's single, original intent; and not adapted to meet the changing needs of society, then it would NOT be the numero uno soul-winning ministry that it is today.
Trying to reverse engineer Royal Rangers right out of the church and back into the world? Not sure I agree with the terminology or the science, but I hope it works, because that's exactly what society needs!

Duane, the direction you wish to go frightens me.

You want to go out of the church and into the community and involve
everyone you can.

That's well and good, but you are inviting a whole bunch of adults
to become part of a program who may or may not be Christian and who
may not ever entertain any desire to become one.  Yes, the potential
to minister to them is there.  In the interim, I don't want them
involved with my son teaching them their values when I don't have
any idea what they may be.

Is this the intent of Royal Rangers?  The original intent was to
create a Christian organization that ministered to boys.  You are
attempting to reverse engineer Royal Rangers right out of the
church and back into the world.

I can understand adding some of the BSA stuff to Rangers.  It makes
sense and it's good stuff.  But once again, you are trying to transform
Royal Rangers into an extension of Boy Scouts and once again,
I just don't get it.
