I know of several outposts that shut down during the summer. Some are now permanently shut down. I never understood the philosophy of shutting down. In one case, the Pastor's wife simply decided that the Rangers should take a vacation simply because 'that's what the Missionettes are doing.' In another, the Ranger commanders decided that they had been at it all year and 'needed a break.' Our Pow-Wow is during the summer. Several other Ranger events occur during the summer. Why would you stop meeting and remove one sure way of communicating to your boys? Besides, the loss of momentum is so difficult to overcome when September rolls around.
