Customers aren't supposed to drive the bus?! We do have one Mom & one Dad. They both went on trips at the end of the school year. I also cancelled the last 2 outings due to lack of interest or adult supervision. Parents seem like they don't want to take the time or money to send their boys on an outing, let alone go with them. Even if they did they wouldn't be allowed because women aren't allowed on campouts. We have at least 50% of "single mom" boys. I think we've been around this bush before. ha, ha. Our mens ministry is in the same shape-pretty much non-exsitent. Therefore we have no Council structure. Men are not very committed to service. Maybe this is a common problem coming from the top down. I don't know for sure. You know the old saying "10 % of the people do 90% of the work". I don't think that telling the 10% to quit is the answer. I do know that we did have, at one time, more men & boys than we wanted. That was when we first started Rangers. The first couple of years were great but it seems like the "novelty wore off". Kind of like the new restaurant in town. I have seen many ministries go that way. Fad ministries if you will. Rangers has been the answer to my calling to work with young men so I haven't quit. > *I think you need to stop running and go back and hand the ball > to the parents of the Rangers. *Press them.. to back you, or walk > on down the road. The "Ministry" of Jesus was alive, active and > full of life. Yup-I'm walking down the road, at least for the summer. My wife is still on chemo and also on oxygen. That takes a great deal of my energy. I have been lugging her oxygen unit around and that thing is about 100 lbs. And that is after putting in a full days work. > Useing the "Key man" Core Group" style is like setting traps for > boys. You design the program and wait for them to fall into line. We don't design the program-its already designed for us. > How about turning the entire situation on it's ear.. > > Lay out a year long planning session of brain stormed ideas for > outings, run the Outpost like an administrator, and work to > make those plans come true.. When people see you "going places- > doing things" and holding a standard high for quality experiances- > *They will yeild, and line up to *serve a great thing! That sounds like what you said not to do in the preceding paragraph. I don't see what you are saying is the answer. Could you elaborate on that last paragraph? thanks, Bob Simons For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
