Dear Saligaonkars
Lots of new things have come to Goa. One can talk to a person across the
seas and oceans and send him/her letters and get replies. i remember
somewhere between 1980 to 1994 one used to find it difficult to phone from
Mapuca to Panjim. One had to wait for hours and hours to get a call to
Bombay. Now I think it is a local call to Bombay. Yet many people find it so
difficult to lift up their phones and say hallo to relatives and friends
even within 5 km. I have several friends and relations spread all over. The
easiest thing I can do and am doing is just write one or two sentences on my
email and send them but i get no reply. While some are so busy they just
don't want to keep in touch with you while others will wait for your email
and then reply with lots of excuses as I leave my house early in the morning
and reach home very late as if there is no internet connections in the
office. where there is a will there is a way. I have a friend of mine in the
states. He goes to work early in the morning around may be 4 or 5 as he has
to travel a long distance. when he is in the office he will just write one
or two sentences to me and email it to me. Nice to hear from your friends
who are miles away.
