Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS no longer converting 24-bit files to MP3
It can be the same copy run twice. That would not work, as only one process can use the ports being used by LMS. I always have Activity Monitor running on my LMS server to show what is happening within the system at any time. Only one instance of Perl is shown running. That's not real-time information. The second process could disappear before it even showed up in the list. The message about LMS running already is logged if there's a task running using LMS' port (3483). As this port is reserved for LMS it's highly unlikely any other task would use it. try to investigate this kind of issue, always try to start as clean as possible. Don't install plugins before the basics work. Try to run LMS from the command line etc. I'm only running a few 3rd party, but will pull them all and try again. Screen capture is attached. "A few"? That's more than I do ;-). Did you try to run manually? /Library/PreferencePanes/Squeezebox.prefPane/Contents/server/slimserver.pl Oh, one more thing: use 7.9.1, as there is a Mac specific issue in 7.9.0 (updater only, but still). -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

When the Mac boots you can hold down Command-R to restore the OS via the web from Apple. Since nothing is on DVD/CD any longer, this is how you do a clean install. Before running the installer, I ran DiskUtility and reinitialized the OS partition of my SSD. It was wiped clean then OS 10.12 was installed. Once that was done, I did a system update to OS 10.12.6, the most recent. > > > have received errors of two LMS running, which is impossible as only > one > > It can be the same copy run twice. Perl does not install with LMS - a version of Perl is included as part of OS. LMS provides its some of required CPAN libraries. If you upgraded the OS from say 10.x.x to 10.12.* - I guess there is a possibility of some sort of incompatibility. If you upgraded from 10.12.x to 10.12.y - I'd guess unlikely to be a compatibility problem. OK guys, I TOTALLY rebuilt my system from scratch, and now I'm having a problem where upon rebooting the system my SqueezeNetwork settings are lost or changed, lots of errors in the log (prolly from SqueezeNetwork not logging in) and a bunch of other stuff. I decided to clean install the 'official' LMS 7.9, but it's totally disastrous. I am running Mac OS 10.12.6, could that be a problem? Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS no longer converting 24-bit files to MP3
I think you can get strange results with the 3CPO plugin . I would try without it . I would use 3CPO only if I had some odd resampling need that would be chore to setup with a custom-convert.conf Read this http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?107165-IMPORTANT-Stop-forwarding-your-LMS-ports-to-the-internet! LMS is basically unprotected an alarm going off in the middle of the night is the least trouble you can get. It's basically a vector into your computer once in a hacker gets in he can do anything .so don't open ports to the internet . other pranks done by cretins using this vulnerability ranges from changing our scannad music folders install that picture gallery plugin and have it scan all your vacation pics which usually leads to a crash turn on ( or change ) LMS password protection. The sky is the limit . a possibility we have not seen reports on yet ( it will happen if folks keep thier ports open ) is to write a malicious plugin that you install via the normal plugin installer in LMS . is it not so the LMS has quite elevated rights on for example windows ? Log to come later this evening. If the setup used to work and then suddenly stopped working - you have to think what was changed. Any updates to OSX ? Any updates to LMS ? Any updates to network ? What does LMS say about the different players in the WebUI setting/Information ? What firmware rev is listed for each device ? IIRC Ipeng emulate the "newer" players which can "tell" LMS its capabilties unlike the older hardware players. I wonder whether this is root of the different behaviour. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107806 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

OK - that probably means the Flac / Lame transcoding is for older players and for Ipeng may be using a different conversion but without the relevant log for the player with specific log entry "Using command for conversion" (the "matched" log entries are not useful) for Ipeng vs other players - can't be sure what's different. > I didn't copy/paste the log. A "clean" copy of the server.log file is necessary to see what is happening as at the moment it is unclear. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107806 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS no longer converting 24-bit files to MP3
The logs are already textfiles , the link on LMS webpage also presents the file path . You can use finder to copy and zip the original log files . But the newer LMS versions also has the feature bpa mentioned a link that downloads the logs into a zip file. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS no longer converting 24-bit files to MP3
The log is unreliable and if not edited then something is very strange with your system - as if multiple LMS are running. If not sorted then no point in trusting the log. The log seems to show data has been sent to player - it's wating in the player but then the opayer has underrun which means there is not enough data in the player. This might be normal for the "streaming MP3" but it seems to indcate the problem is in the "player" side but don't trust anyhting until log is clean. In your context it is not clear whether the transcoding chain runs. 48kbitss/ec files can be sent to player without conversion as long as it is 16 bit, I think if the flac file is 24 bit then it may need some trasncoding. You need to look at your log in more detail not the fragment you sent. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107806 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS no longer converting 24-bit files to MP3
I'll look again. I don't think the problem is resampling as I've always been able to play 48k files on other devices. Again the odd thing is that iPeng on my iPhone plays everything fine. I did also try a xilix update on the Transporter and nothing changed. This is extremely odd as it has worked. There's really no reason to do transcoding with the exception of streaming to an SB3 at my office. I have plenty of bandwidth on both ends to play native FLAC files and may just have to leave it there. Thanks for the replies. As I get more time this week/weekend I'll try it again and submit more content from the log. One other thing I just thought of, I did an OS update about a week ago to OS 10.12.6 which could've broken some pipes. Not sure how I could revert except to restore from an older backup set. May try that as well. Thanks again. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS no longer converting 24-bit files to MP3
Found my Flac resample problems. It is an example of transcode log where failure happens early and but "matched" messages appear later so it can confuse. Example of a more complete log with the important transcoding log message highlighted - in your log I don;t see the other messages (e.g. "matched") in your log which measn you have copied the LMS tests against "failed" rules which precede a successful rule which then plays. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS no longer converting 24-bit files to MP3
You have only sent tiny fragement of conversion - chopping the importantt beginning lines and trailing lines. As a general rule for logs it is best to copy iunto a text file, zip and attach to a post. Also sometimes message that are missing are a clue to the error - by editing the log that context is lost. When a transcode fails it is usuall logged as something like "end of file" - as you have have not included the success and/or failure of trasncode - I don't know what is happening. That said I see two conversion. Code: 17-08-06 17:10:38.7027] Slim::Player::TranscodingHelper::getConvertCommand 2 (446) Matched: flc->mp3 via: [flac] -dcs $START$ $END$ -- $FILE$ | [lame] --silent -q $QUALITY$ $RESAMPLE$ $BITRATE$ - - and Code: 17-08-06 16:52:19.8802] Slim::Player::TranscodingHelper::getConvertCommand 2 (446) Matched: flc->mp3 via: [flac] -dcs $START$ $END$ -- $FILE$ | [lame] --silent -q $QUALITY$ $RESAMPLE$ $BITRATE$ - - What do you means "FLAC is installed properly"LMS supplies Falc as part of the paackage - any 3rd party install of Flac is unliely to work. The above two conversion are Flac->lame and Flac->sox. Your post does not make it clear which one works. Can you run the flac, sox and lame that are in the LMS Bin directories (the directories with Bin in the Helper application folder as listed in WebUI Settings/Information) NOT in any other directory and what is the version of each. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107806 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Odd that it's happening on both SB3, Duet and Transporter if I force transcode, but if I force MP3 transcoding to my iPhone using iPeng to playback, it works fine.
