I just got a flyer in the mail from the children of Hester Tuckey of
Charlotte, MI.
Apparently, Hester was a lacemaker and needlewoman with a collecting
habit (so much like me!). Mr Tuckey liked to paint lead soldiers.
Their estate will be at auction Sept 16 and 17th in Charlotte, MI.

As I understand it, the table ribbon, which is the focus of the lace
contest, is a traditional lace piece in Quebec. I may be wrong, I'm
judging on how it was presented, how all the people from Quebec seemed
to know what it was instinctively, etc.

I did go visit the Lace Guild at the Hollies and it is really great!so
many pieces of lace, a great library and VERY friendly people. You must

It's not cheap as you have to travel to Belgium and use two weeks vacation,

There was a lovely Oya purse with all sorts of true to life color flowers
and leaves and other botanicals on it at the Cooper-Hewitt during the IOLI
tour. I'll have to download my pictures to describe it in more detail, it
