They are an easier way of dealing with electronics mostly. Otherwise, they are a cheap computer. That being said, unless you need a cheap computer, or a device that needs a computer core, they aren't going to be too useful to you. It's kind of a more general purpose Arduino. Otherwise, like I said, you could use it for a cheap linux machine, though, at that point, you might as well shill out the extra money to get a more powerful linux machine. Just depends if you are in need of a computer that can interact with things outside of its box.

Re: Covid Fearers, Please Read

Okay. So, here's my understanding. Those who want to keep the lockdown are evil governmental dictators who want to keep all the sheeple under there control, and those who want to reopen everything are moneygrubbing billionaires who want more money to keep the sheeple under there control. Neither side cares about human lives and only care for their own interests. So far, both sides have mounted to bad faith arguments that have only succeeding in making the argument that we should just remove humanity entirely. That being said, let's take a step back and think from the perspective of someone you disagree with. To be honest, I don't envy the leadership hear. No matter what decision they make, there will be blood. Either starvation, virus, or both. Indeed, 6 made an interesting point that I hadn't considered as I am a more we should be taking more steps to reopen kind of person. Arguing based on proper merits allows us to make arguments that could change people's minds. Bare in mind, not everyone advocating to reopen are greedy horrible people, in fact I'd go as far to say few to none of them are. Same to those who want to keep the system closed. I think assuming the worst about a person giving a certain argument is quite destructive. This is a descussion that needs to be had. It really is important. We as humans have to decide what kind of society we want to live in. Due to the selfish nature of humanity, the best we can do is bring our own, honest interests to the table and make a choice. It's because of this selfish nature that we must work together from our own respective points of view rather than have a king or emperor make these decisions.

It isn't particularly immoral in my mind. Software in particular is strange in this regard as you aren't directly stealing anything at that point, but you are recovering what is yours. On the other hand, it is illegal. So, my recommendation and high encouragement is to avoid cracking. It is fascinating how all this works, though. What is moral isn't always legal, and what is imoral isn't always illegal. Likewise, what is not immoral isn't always legal.

Well, guys. I did chocolate biscuits today. The result wasn't half bad. I think I may have overworked the dough a bit, and I really don't have a rolling pin, so the shape on them is a bit off, but the flavor and textures worked out. A nice crisp outside with a moist inner crumb. Probably more crumb than a biscuit should have, but that was kind of the idea. Also could have done a bit more cinamon I think.

Yeah, we do what's called an open exam. We are called to do our exercises before a panel of judges, and the judges are free to determine how many ranks they think our performance  is worth. Something like that anyways. We can only do this up to 1-kyu, I think as the dan ranks have to be earned more formally. Either way, due to new ranking requirements, I am now kata bound, so hopefully that goes well. I do not have a recording of that match unfortunately. I could  try to hunt one down, but I don't think anyone got one. Sorry about that. That being said, I should probably put up a recording of training. Perhaps a nice demo. I will have to ask my senpai or one of my sensei if they would be interested in making such a thing.

Re: Kendo match

Right. I am back from the tournament and after party and all that. The results of the match was a resounding loss. 2-0 with me getting one penalty due to out-of-bounds. Unfortunate, but other than perfecting where the bounds of the court are and making sure I'm centered on my opponent, it was pretty fun. As for how I deal with the whole blind thing, really learning by the sound of your opponent, and the feel of the shinai. Your shinai is a bit like a cane in that you can use it to feel out where the opponent is by feeling about for the shinai. There are still challenges, though. That being said, this was a great learning experience, and I hope to have more figured out by the time of the next tournament. Oh, we do have some good news, though. This was my second exam, and I  went up another two ranks. I am now 3-kiyu up from 5-kiyu. (kiyu ranks count backwards with dan ranks counting forwards.)

I think that's his signature. Still not wrong, it's more like he hasn't updated it, though, rather than getting it wrong again. I also wanted to write in a way to demonstrate that little quirk. As, that particle is commonly used, and this is an example that both shows its use being ha but being pronounced wa, and it gave me an excuse to talk about the particle a bit. It really is kind of an oddity to me. Much like wo being pronounced o, though that one is less strange.

Re: speaking japanese, Am I doing it right?

Hmm. Not bad. If I may, there are a couple of corrections that I would like to make. I will use Romaji, but I will put spaces between the hiragana names for ease of re-entry. Now, the first correction is one of those times where the phonetics aren't as obvious as I would like, but it does make some sense. Hello = konnichiha ko n ni chi haThe wierd part is that last character. Ha is traditionally used, as this word used  to be more commonly  part of a sentence. Thus, the ha at the end is not in fact part of the word, but the particle ha which is pronounced wa.Your counting is good. go=58 = hachi ha chi9 = kyuu (and here's where my laziness comes to bite me, as that is ki followed by a small yu I think. Any more qualified speaker can correct me on that one, though.)10 = Jyuu (same concept)And with that, I have tought 1 through 99 because...11 = jyuuichi12 = jyuuni...20 = nijyuu30 = sanjyuu...It would go number, followed by the place the number is in, in this case, the tens place, followed by the number in the ones place.Anyways, I hope this all made sense. Sorry for the lazy method of doing things, and as  usual, I haven't practiced in a while, so sorry if I got anything wrong.

I also added a little milk. @4 I understand what you are getting at. My general opinion is that savory cooking is easier to design recipes and stuff for, but harder to execute, while baking I've had more trouble designing and modifying stuff for, while being easier to execute.

Right. My name is based on the ginyu force from Dragon Ball Z of all things. I liked Jeice,  so I phonetically spelled the name. I later added the offire part due to Jeice's theming. It also helps that I'm a fan of Jace from Magic the Gathering, so there's that.

@11 Fair enough. As far as things go, I see a forum as a low risk chance to practice some useful skills, so 12/immature or not, it is a low risk way to fail and learn from those failures, I suppose. That being said, if you are satisfied with the one forum, then it is good to stick with it. I have my issues with some things around here to be sure. Definitely some things I would have done differently, but I'm well enough with lerking about and posting when I need something, or find a topic to be interesting that I will probably stick around for the time so long as the mod team is happy to leave me around. Re: What the Forum is going on with all these forums!

@2 Well, that is a pretty good reason to make a forum, I suppose. If you don't like what one place provides, you think you can do better? Then put your money/time/ability where your mouth...err...hands are. @3 As for why a forum and not a discord server, well, a forum does have its appeal that a discord server cannot achieve. For one, organizational style. Unless you want to give away a good bit of security, you really can't have people create channels. Even if you use channel groups as rooms. Plus, forums tend to update slower. More time to consider the conversation on a given thread. Discord servers aren't as suited to this purpose. Some users are also creating forums for there specific subcommunity like Liam. Really just depends, I guess.

Re: Supreme Court hands victory to blind man who sued Domino’s

Oh. I'm not saying they aren't lazy, or at least there web team isn't. This is just simply saying that legally speaking, they do not necessarily have to. They just need to meet the legal standard for accessible which is...a bit lack luster. I think they were just hoping for the courts to tell this guy to go away, but as we can see, that's not happening. They may try to settle after this, though. We'll see. If they don't, it would be good to actually have a ruling on this case, as I am also curious what the minimum standards are for a site to be considered accessible by legal standards. The wcag would be a good remedy, but updating things to it is work that they have to pay for and you know, actually do. That being said, there's no way this suit is cheaper than doing the work at this point, so we'll see.

Re: Supreme Court hands victory to blind man who sued Domino’s

I feel  the need to correct some issues here. First, there are indeed no clear "federal" rules. This is important. The WCAG is a private set of guidelines, not a legally binding set of guidelines. The law has far from caught up here.  Here is where I think lawmakers and enforcers should be directing there efforts. Now that we have private guidelines, and can easily develop accessible concepts fairly easily on websites, the federal government here in the US needs to catch up with it. That's a tangent, though. Actually, the WCAG is even mensioned in the suit. This was merely trying to figure out whether this suit should be permitted to go on through the phases. If anyone would like an idea of just how slow the courts move, it took about four years to decide whether this case even had any merit. Not even taking on whether Dominoes actually even did or in this case, didn't do what the suit alleges. I am actually curious to know what exactly Dominoes doesn't have working. It mensions the custom Pizza builder, but that feature works just fine to my last knowledge with screen readers. Now, if we are talking scheduled orders, so that an order could be scheduled for a specific time and date? I think that section was broken. It's been a while. I use Pizza Hut more now as it is cheaper, and let me tell you...It really makes me want to pull my hair out. LOL!!! Re: something i have been wanting to say

Hmm. I'm afraid that Jayde raises a good point here. In an ideal world, if making already existing stuff accessible was an easy task, we wouldn't have to wait and hope as much as we do. Further more, we aren't the only game in town. We're not the only voice hanging out in the ear of a given dev. To that end, it pays to not rely so heavily on simple activism. Shouting our complaints from the mountains isn't really going to get too much done. Sometimes, it could be the most constructive message ever written, but unless it's a step by step guide with extreme technical detail where needed, it won't get us very far. That's actually one of the points of my new blog. I want to start noting down how to make something accessible. I want it to be common knowledge, at least in the video game arena. I at least want it to be as talked about as web accessibility. That's several years out, of course, but the only way we can hope to see a wave of more accessible software of any kind, is to explain how that's done first. To that end, I do request that more people learn a skill related to the thing they want to see made more accessible. Learn how something is made accessible in the first place, and then relay this information to the world. It would also be nice if we had a nice collection of this knowledge somewhere, so we can just point people to that. I know some members are progressing this goal, but the more people we can involve, the better.

Hmm. Yeah, that article is a bit skewed indeed. The first thing that came to mind was this. While my experiences are purely anticdotal, I have found that most  of the worker class, particularly those in the rust belt, tend to want nothing to do with socialism. The trouble is that the prospect of potentially losing what they worked to obtain is not a fun prospect for them. It seems to be the more well educated and wealthy members of society that want a more socialistic system for what that's worth. As for the matter of conservatives, getting 200 of them to agree on anything would be a feat. From what I've learned, american conservatism is made up of several ideologies. This is why it can be a bit difficult for them to get anything done in the first place. The issue though these days seems to be the amount of polarization and discord that make up the political system at the moment. It seems to be worse than usual lately, though, that could be just as easily my imagination. LOL!!! Either way, we need to find something to get everyone at least in a negotiation mood, and the latest social and political antics aren't getting us very far. Ah well. The world goes on.(edit) I forgot to answer the question. Oops. My prediction is that we'll probably be on a slow route of progress for a while. It will require something rather revolutionary to get us both excellorating and keeping up with the rate of current technological trends. It's not impossible, it's just going to take a lot of work to achieve.

I don't think I've had trouble with the phone app at all. Usually, the worst was texting, and anything that used android's virtual keyboard. The phone app on mine uses a large number keypad, though input is the same as keyboard input, I suppose. As in you have to drag your finger to the digit you want to input and release it. Same way with keyboard, but instead of digits, it's keyboard characters. Not pleasant for long texts, though. The keyboard really is my worst complaint with talkback, though from my experience with IOs devices, it isn't much of an advantage. Only some slight improvements here and there, so...Anyways, I guess it just depends on how your phone has been set up. I use a droid turbo 2, and as I said, it works well for my use.

The reason why it seems that way is,because we've been focusing on send all of your kids to college. No matter what. I guess that might be a more U.S. mentality, though. See, what we need are more people still doing post-secondary, but taking the time to learn skilled labor jobs. Either associate's degree stuff, or otherwise licensed professional sort of work such as plumbing and HVAC. That tangent aside.Point3 I mean, that sort of behavior has seemed to become a lot more common lately in general. Kind of sad really. One of the major reasons why things just feel more toxic and depressing lately, I guess. Also, the latter half of this point seems to contradict with your second point. That aside.Point 4 I mean, I don't know. We should be focusing more on developing better methods for us to get into more of the in demand fields that I discussed above, I think. It would give blind people an edge going forward, if we could prove ourselves capable of working as electricians, plumbers, and so on without you know, creating a terrible fire risk or something. LOL!!!(edit) I think Aaron kind of hit it on the head there. It would be nice if the various support organizations would focus on more development of better ways and technologies for us to advocate for ourselves, and competently do these jobs. I know they do to some extent, but as effective as group advocacy can be, personal advocacy tends to be more amicable and allows for better understanding rather than just fear.

Re: This forum really stresses me out anymore

Hmm. At 26. I think I may have an answer about why not having a filter has become popular these days. It has to do with one of the flaws of governing by fear, actually. It's true that fear is a good motivator. Indeed, if you are made to be really afraid of doing something, chances are, at least for a short moment, you will hesitate to do the thing. Note that the effect is only short term, though. If the ones governing that way continue to do so, though, the result turns the fear into hatred. It turns the nice little lawful environment you've set up into a rebellious and chaotic system. The trouble is, some things have to be run like this. Not every person can be cleanly handled, and if we wish to keep order, some people really only respond properly to fear, but it would be good to find a method that doesn't end in a strong reaction against the governing system.

Re: The Hatsune Miku official topic

Ah. I remember listening to an English cover of that one. While I do not get too many opportunities to listen to the vocaloids themselves, because of most of the songs being in Japanese, I've enjoyed the English covers of those songs. My personal favorite are the songs from the story of evil. Anyways, I hope it's not too off topic to include a bit on the rest of the Vocaloid lineup. While it seems that Hatsune Miku is one of the most popular, they all are decent quality.(edit) *sees second post* Gosh dang it, I don't have the time to listen to Senbonzakura 1,000 times. As much as I really want to. It's a good song.

Re: How do developers copyright their products?

In terms of the united states, it's pretty much automatic. The moment you create a tangible _expression_ of an idea, you own the copyright on that _expression_. For example, you write a book, you own the copyright on that book. You can register your copyright with the copyright office, but you really don't need to in order to defend it if my memory serves. There are of course rules on what can be copyritten, though. You may not copyright facts for example, unless sweat of the brow doctrine applies. Sweat of the brow doctrine simply means that you had to put significant work into obtaining those facts. There are other limitations as well, though that would make this post way to long.

Re: Modern Educayshun: Your Thoughts?

I see what is being said in post 19, but the issue is that things have indeed begun to take a turn for the worse. To support your arguments, though, I will say that those that would seek to cause trouble for society under the guise of positive social change are a small minority. I'll be it a rather vocal one. What makes matters worse is that those in power seem to be sort of not dealing with them. That  being said, the ideal is that, yes, the young should be moving society forward, though I think it should be noted constant change can be dangerous. We are in a rather unique position where things can get worse. What makes things even worse about that is that it can be a benefit for a small minority that wish to hold power over the majority. I do agree with 18, and I think most if not all of us would. We need to stop seeing disagreement as a personal attacks, for both sides. We need to work on not simplifying matters too much. That last one is rather difficult, though. For
additional studies, I'd advise looking into the Evergreen State University incidents, the university of Misouri (butchered it, I'm sure) and University of California Berkley. For the groups involved, mainly Antifa, and a I think a sort of associated/suborganization called BAMN (or By Any Means Necessary.)

I've been looking to run something with 5th Edition just as it's the newest, and the one fresh on most people's minds. Fourth Edition definitely fits as the most war game like, and though 5th Edition toned it back quite a bit, a map seems to make organization of placement a lot easier. As far as stating NPCs, I think I have a few ideas that should make it rather quick to look stuff up when I need particular NPCs or monsters. Great. Now I have to math. Thanks aprone. LOL!!! Okay, the titan 2 has the easiest solution. A simple sample space will tell us that titan's odds of winning once. Now, to be clear, titan 1 has 156 cards, but as it draws, the number of cards will go down until 52 cards have been drawn, then the titan will be back to 156? I also take it that the titan doesn't necessarily need to win the game 100 times in a row?

Re: I'm kind of concerned about the culture surrounding usability

Well, in terms of education, at least in the US, it's broken in general. I was very lucky to get a rather good education as far as public education goes, but it did require a bit of pressure on some rare occasions to get done correctly. The issue with anything with dealing with education seems to be a lot more fundamental. In terms of job security, again, I can only speak for the US. From what I know, stability for those given that they are a standard high school graduate is rather difficult. If you like doing menial tasks at the bottom of the workforce ladder, you might have a chance. Your chance becomes a bit better if you are near an active site for one of the majority blind factions...I mean...charitable organizations. I didn't think they were actually as competitive as they were until I did a bit of digging. I have no idea about the UK's situation, but their organizations seem to be more united. It seems to be still that you are either a huge success, and make a
good chunk of change with a college degree, or you are left at the bottom of the barrel. I shouldn't be too rough on the matter, as it also matters on what state you live in. Some states offer stable public sector jobs. Actually, if you work in the public sector, you're golden. Don't work in the private sector, though. That's where affordability comes into play. We need an appealing way to handle the private sector. I think we've all come to the agreement that Legal pressure is only going to get you so far. With no real plan to implement, you are kind of putting the cart before the horse. Though, in most cases, you are right, the issue is a technical one, there are some jobs that may require some more creative methods to handle them. Some factory labor jobs come to mind. Though, those are neither here nor there at this point. Something to tackle after we've handled the more easy to solve digital stuff.

Honestly, I've never heard much about the US one. Neither the UK organization, but that's because I don't keep a very close eye on UK politics. I do have this sinking feeling that those who would rather force companies to do all of the accessibility work would rather do it through rather draconian legislation because who needs any sort of work when we can force other people to do it for us through the government. That's honestly not a good way to go, but i wouldn't doubt if there are a hand full of people who think this way. The US may not be very likely to see these problems right now, but I could see it happening more in the UK. It would probably be a good way to crash an economy, though. Well, here's to hoping we can develop quick and cheap ways to implement accessibility very soon.

You know, I think this is the first time that I've ever heard English being called an easy language. As far as I was aware, English was considered one of the most difficult languages to learn. @Dark, that thesis sounds interesting. I'm sure it would be a good read.

Re: English seems to lack some words, but I want them anyway

@Dark, yeah, it isn't much better here across the pond, honestly. LOL!!! As for Esperanto, I think I remember hearing somewhere that it was meant to be a global language. Of course, I don't think it caught on. To this day, I think that English still remains the more global language. I'd say that it's because of its versatility, but I know very well that it's because English speaking countries at the moment serve as the current powerhouses of the world. LOL!!! Much in the way Latin used to be the chief language back when the Roman Empire was the major power in the world.

Umm, we interrupt your scheduled topic discussion for some dubious linkage. I'm not sure, though. Back on topic, though, It is amazing how one language can be so easily construed based on where you live.

I like how Daigonite has just given up and decided to post the link to the twitter feed. Wasn't there a reason why we weren't doing that again?  Oh well. Yeah, the gamergate thing is interesting. It had a rather unsatisfying "ending." If you can call it an ending. The thing is, it just sort of exists hear and there, and as people said, degenerates on both sides really aren't helping. That being said, the occasional reasonable person does appear. It really doesn't help that an anti-SJW Vs. SJW thing had been going long before that and continues after the matter. GG was just sort of the straw that broke the camel's back so to speak, but enough of the off-topic bit. Why on earth is the disabled community in general fighting amongst itself? I thought the idea of the Blind person was supposed to be the difficulty of being horribly judgemental. This is why some stereotypes really should be followed. LOL!!! Oh well. I guess no group gets the luxury
of being completely free of crappy people.

Re: I'm kind of concerned about the culture surrounding usability

@Daigonite Honestly, my thoughts for this were more focused on goal 2 as I was picturing general UI stuff. The current project that at least has been publicly seen thus far really doesn't need it that much. I was just thinking more long term is all. As for Talkback, if you're missing settings, I'm probably missing them too. LOL!!! It is a pain, I'd agree. It really could benefit from some improvements on it's own. Honestly, when/if you do get into general navigation of UI there are many ways by which navigation is done. The tab key and it's modifiers are one such route, but on the internet for example, using certain key presses that let us move by commonly used HTML objects, such as h for headings. Now, this one is for way later down the line, but just some fun information is that with different multiple navigation methods, some parts of programs can be quickly accessed. Audacity comes to mind as an example. Using the NVDA navigator object, it is poss
ible to examine multiple parts of the screen at once. There is honestly a lot more to consider when playing with UI standards in general. Like I said, it's something to look at when you get your time back. The NVDA manual is a good read.

Re: I'm kind of concerned about the culture surrounding usability

Honestly, I'm afraid that Defender makes a good point. While it isn't absolutely necessary in many cases just based on what you've developed thus far, it will really help in the long run. You should probably know both sides of the connection before you start really tinkering with it. It will make design a lot easier. Most of the back end shouldn't be too much trouble, when you get into navigation, you might want a solid point of reference. I would also highly advise taking A smartphone or tablet, doesn't matter too much right now as to which one, and play with that screen reader as well. If you have an Android device lying around, Talkback is the main on that one. If it's an IOS, Voiceover is what you are going to be playing with.

Re: I'm kind of concerned about the culture surrounding usability

Pretty much. Daigonite has the right bow and arrows so to speak. They're just being aimed at the wrong target. If I understood Daigonite's goals, that sort of thing just might be a great improvement to mobile. Even more so if it is multi-platform, though base Android on the web is a pain in the neck even more so than Apple. Talkback really could use a great improvement in this regard. It's getting better, but my stubbernness to avoid Apple products when possible is the only thing keeping me on android. Actually, I see a somewhat bright future for android thanks to Humanware. We'll just have to see how that goes.

Re: I'm kind of concerned about the culture surrounding usability

Honestly @Daigonite, don't let the vocal minority get the best of you. I don't recall actually anyone here who would be that crazy. Now, as far as your goals. Let me make sure I have this right.1. Make it possible to use only a few keys to do a wide range of commands such as making a more comprehensive tab navigation.2. Make it easier for implimentation of accessibility to software.Honestly, you really should try to become more comfortable with a screen reader. While they can be daunting at first, I think you'll find that many of the commands given make them quite efficient pieces of software. Not to discourage your ideas, though. Your ideas may make mobile navigation less of a pain in the neck. Keep that in mind, actually.

Re: I'm kind of concerned about the culture surrounding usability

The issue with NVDA is, I think, the issue that free screen reader software wasn't always as exceptable. That being said, the fact that there were many windows eyes users is the counter example to that claim. Honestly, it would be a quick fix for most companies to just use something like NVDA, but honestly, I'm not sure how well known it is among the general blind population. A UX issue, maybe? LOL!!! Gotta love conspiracy theories.

Re: I'm kind of concerned about the culture surrounding usability

Okay, on the topic of Freedom Scientific, and JAWS. Not to long ago, I used to think "You get what you pay for." When it came to screen readers. (Sorry about the terrible way I probably butchered grammar there.) Now, after getting some handle on NVDA, I do not think that as much. NVDA works surprisingly well on both machines I've tried it on, and JAWS seems to have gotten a lot more laggy on Windows 10 for me. Maybe it's just the laptop, though. NVDA does seem to run smoother on my windows 10 machine, and I've heard a similar report from another blind person as well. As for the price of JAWS, honestly, if it's gonna cost that much, I'd hope I'm getting some nice scripting software with the screen reader. On the concepts of standards, they are necisary. Both screen readers, and the companies making software that is intending to be accessible to said screen readers or any other form of adaptive technology for that matter, need to have a common
link to work with. Now, the issue that is most agreeable is that it does need to be as easy and efficient as possible to use those common links. As far as designing an accessible way to navigate, screen readers have made a good method of doing that on computers. The key word is "on computers." Daigonite has the right idea, though I wonder if the market is off the mark a bit. On a mobile device, my experience has been more constrained to swipes that don't get me very far. From my experience with Android's Talkback, which is my main one, and the little experience that I've had with Apple's Voiceover, navigation of even websites is tedious and inefficient. (After seeing Daigonite's latest post.) Okay. I see what all of this is getting at. Honestly, I would agree here. Either a modular system like what you've presented or just a single dedicated overlay that contains all of the hooks for most adaptive technologies would greatly simplify the proce
ss. It is more than possible to implement accessibility in most applications as is, but on the grand scale, it would take too long for that to be done and get the main bulk of the project done. Am I kind of understanding the issue here?
