I was trying to use ^ as a beginning of a string and $ as the end of a string.
To tell BZ that I just want ooo and nothing else like os_ooo.

The problem here is that os_ooo, mst.ooo and wuyan.ooorg are also excluded but
I only want to exclude ooo (besides the other like openoffice...).

So why does it not work when I just use ooo as the value? I also tried using
"ooo" and 'ooo' but that did not work either.
Is there a special way to tell BZ that ooo is a string, that I might have
missed?

thx

As before, I will probably render an html version to put on the web server
in case we need it. Probably Sunday night.

The general order is:

The general order is:

1) Stage the files on SF and Apache dist, verify that they have replicated

2) Update download page scripts to it offers the new version.

3) Announce (website, blog, announce list, social media)

4) Enable update notification servers

It sounds like 1 is done but requires confirmation.

Marcus will take care of #2 Sunday night or
Monday.

I'll plan on doing #3 as soon as #2 is confirmed. I can also help
upload any updated NL pages.

Oliver has #4 ready to go and will probably enable this after a couple of days.

Important change to 4.0.1 Release Notes -- may impact translations

2013-09-27 Thread Rob Weir
I just noticed that the release notes did not have a link to the
download page. You might think that the typical path is:

1) user visits ww.openoffice.org
2) user clicks download link
3) from download page user clicks on release notes

But there are also other common paths, including 3rd party articles
and blogs, tweets, that link directly to the release notes, and might
not even mention the download page.

So I've added two links to the download page in the first paragraph of
the release notes. If you have started a translation please try to
include something similar.

Thanks!

Hello Misha,

As a non-profit organization Apache does not place traditional
advertisements on our websites for 3rd parties. But we do try to
encourage an ecosystem on 3rd products and services related to
OpenOffice. So currently we're happy to list 3rd party items like:

-- Unofficial ports and distributions of OpenOffice:
http://www.openoffice.org/porting/

-- Books about OpenOffice: http://www.openoffice.org/support/books.html

-- Listing of consultants who offer services related to OpenOffice:
http://www.openoffice.org/bizdev/consultants.html

I don't think we've had any 3rd party library like LibOpenOffice, so
we'll need to think about where the best place to list it would be.

Also, we're always interested in good stories for our blog about how
people use OpenOffice to solve real problems. So it might be possible
to give more prominence to your library in a blog post like that. But
we'd want to focus it on how you used OpenOffice, what problem you
were solving, what approach you used, what you learned about
OpenOffice in process, things like that.

There are several reasons:

First, yes it is for the PrOOo box, for a new Cover.

Second, I want to print some 3D-stickers to give it away. (e.g. on our "AOO

See:

I do not know what "Stammtisch" in english is called.

In Germany, "Stammtisch" is the term for a specific table in a restaurant or
for a meeting of insiders on a specific topic. The latter meaning is intended
here.

See wikipedia (sorry, german):

See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Font_hinting

Whether the font was designed in SVG is not relevant. Font hinting
occurs at another level. It is the extra instructions that tell the
font renderer that a 8pt font, a 24 pt font and a 80 pt font are not
linear scalings of each other.

PNG = ISO/IEC 15948. So it is an open standard as well. As for
encouraging the propagation of our logo in an easily reusable vector
format, I don't agree with that. I think we should keep the source to
the logo rather controlled and make raster versions of it available
for approved purposes.

Umm.. I havent heard this before but AFAIK most fonts are developed on SVG
now. Fontforge uses as a core filetype to quote an example.

I think you are confusing the render on the browser with using this as a
web design element. SVG have been around for ages, the fact that this user
asked for a vectorized version (to use for whatever reason) and he happen
to notice an issue on the browser, doesnt mean his intentions is to put it
on the page.

That said, I strongly think we should switch to SVG, natively, is much
smaller, and more open.

There are also many fallback libraries like svg.js and modernizr for older
browser. IE6 > 1% of the market. I think we have bigger issues that are not
working on the site than 1% of the visits.

And we still get many visitors using older browsers, even I.E. 6. So
I'd recommend using a rasterized version of the logo on the website or
anywhere else we expect random users to visit. There are ways of
having both SVG and raster images, but if we're not seeing consistent
SVG rendering then it would be safer to just render via Inkscape and
 use that.

And finally, converting to polygons in advance prevents the TrueType
engines from doing its best job at rendering the font hinting at
various scales. Compare it yourself. Take 12-point text, convert to
polygons and then scale up (or down) the polygons. Then try again
with an actual font reference. It might vary by font, but a
well-designed font will render much better if you do not convert to
polygons first.

There is a way to have a uncritical SVG version - just convert all text
to polygons first (and use absolute polygon paths, e.g. in inkscape).
That version would be safe since it would not use any font references,
only graphics (polygons). Relying on font rendering in SVG does simply
not work for multiple different systems, versions of these and even
evtl. different languages and installed fonts.

Hi,

It's actually ready - I think - I took the Release notes and used that to
generate a really shot piece. I could not get the final render finished
before I needed to leave this morning however. If I can I'll push up
tonight, but likely it will be tomorrow and I must warn you it is not the
same old OO.o look - so I won't be hurt in the least if folks want some
changes made ;)

Done, but no guarantees, I got a number of warnings the the .po files for

When I tested danish, I did not bother making sdf files :-)

Re: A little more eye candy for 4.0.1 release

2013-09-27 Thread Drew Jensen
Howdy,

Thanks - maybe someone will.

Folks are quite busy with real work and I won't trouble them with this type
stuff at the moment.

I will push two things up over the weekend and then on Monday or Tuesday
will drop the rest. (Set of Flyers w/template - video theme with templates)

Since no one seems to mind I'm sticking with the following theme:

AOO-Teal3 (that is the logo color ;)
Grey 6 - text
Red 6 - text
Yellow 3 - highlight text

I'm also focused totally on Retail marketing and discounting commercial use
of the application, so in everything I'll try to hit things like - building
urgency and driving folks to download.

I will also try to emphasize the forums and template/extension services
more, as best I can.

Talk to you soon,

What exactly are you looking for? We don't have any user with ID that
matches that regular expression, e.g., a line starting with "ooo"
followed immediately by a line end.

A simpler way to describe this query might be to do an advanced query of:

Assignee: (contains none of the strings) openoffice, ooo, issues, AOO
security list, secur...@openoffice.apache.org

> Can you tell what "is equal to" can be used for? (only int, double, ...?)

It depends on the field type. But in most cases, such as with the
assignee field, it is a string comparison.

I've deactivated 4.0.1-dev as a version for new defects. I've added
4.0.1 as new version. There already exists a 4.1.0-dev version string

I also deactivated 4.0.1 as a milestone assignment.

Note: there are three bugs that are assigned the 4.0.1 milestone but
are not marked as fixed, or even marked as accepted:

118363 Base code iss...@openoffice.apache.org CONF --- Copy From OOo
Base Query Fails To Grab Full Selection

122094 Writer save-exp iss...@openoffice.apache.org CONF --- Protected
MS WORD documents opened in OPEN OFFICE lose the protection

123311 Native-L eu iss...@openoffice.apache.org CONF --- UI: Print

I'll reset these to have no milestone. I don't think we want defects
with a milestone assignment unless someone has taken ownership of
them.

Ah I see, you are right JanIV, back in the OOo days, we used to have
an sdf repo which was easiert to point people to. However it has it's
own problems (similar to po) which was the threshold between the
version from the previous release, and whatever was on Pootle at the
moment (and not even comment about source strings).

The problem is, in the final step (atm I'm just tinkering) I want to exclude

some of the assignees I'd like to exclude:
openoffice

Using ^ooo$ and "matches regular expression" does not work for me.

Can you tell what "is equal to" can be used for? (only int, double, ...?)

You can use the criterion "Time Since Assignee Touched" "is

 Exclude assignee secur...@openoffice.apache.org from search.

Have you count, how many issues are affected? For example, with

Hm... I must be blind in the morning.

get the native languages pages up-to-date.

My plan is to enable the update notifications for release AOO 4.0.1 one

And we still get many visitors using older browsers, even I.E. 6. So
I'd recommend using a rasterized version of the logo on the website or
anywhere else we expect random users to visit. There are ways of
having both SVG and raster images, but if we're not seeing consistent
SVG rendering then it would be safer to just render via Inkscape and
use that.

For

I get the same "display artifact" in Opera 12.16 / Chrome 29.0.1547.76

However the Wikipedia logo looks OK to me in all 3 browsers, so there

Oh, if you already XCode 3 then you're probably almost all set: Please check

AFAIK on a typical XCode3 system there should be gcc-4.0 and gcc-4.2. I
can't remember whether there was an install option to install the older
version.

If I read the configure script correctly it tries to find this gcc-4.0
version and would use it if it was there.

Regarding the 10.4 SDK I'm quite sure it was optional with XCode3's
package installer. That one defaults to only install SDK 10.5 and 10.6.
I you'll have 10.4 you are probably only two hours away from your own
AOO build! :-)

Thanks for the invite.

I'm not sure if the MacPorts gcc 4.0 will work. Better check whether the
older compiler version was an optional part of XCode3 and use that if
possible.

(I'll update the Guide, when I'm done).

Wonderful, thanks in advance!

I tried to change configure file, but it keeps reseting so I can't change

I wonder, would a ln -s from the system python version to the current

Yes. please do.

Having it on trunk would have the additional benefit that we add them to
the schedule of our regular buildbots. New localizations benefiting from
a few rounds of polishing wouldn't be surprising. AFAIK trunk and the
AOO401 branch are still 100% compatible from a localization perspective.

I would really not recommend that, if you need to download po files, login
to translate.apache.org first, then go to your project. Using a direct
link might give you old data (right now it will not because I just synced
the po files).

When doing it through the UI, you are sure to get the newest files, while
doing as you suggest gives you whatever is on disk not synchronized with
the database.

But for sdf file generation, we do not go that way, we use the po file
directory on the vm, because we also have the utilitites on the vm.

AFAIK this is the convertor from po to sdf/xliff
http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/toolkit/oo2po

You can download the po from the project here:

Hi,

forgive me for writing in English, but this post goes to several native

I am currently preparing the update of the XML feeds for our product

3.2.1, 3.3.0, 3.4.0, 3.4.1, 4.0.0) in order to enable the notification
about new version 4.0.1

For most of the languages the user is directed by the update
notification to our main download side [1].
For the following languages the user is directed to the corresponding
native languages page:
- Chinese (simplified)
- Chinese (traditional)
- Dutch
- French
- German
- Italian
- Japanese
- Slovak
- Spanish

IMPORTANT:
Please drop me a short note, when the corresponding native langauge
pages has been updated after version 4.0.1 has been released
OR
drop me a short note, when no update to the native language page is
needed.

So far, I got feedback for
- German
- Spanish

Looking at the mail archives of general-ja@o.a.o, progetto-it@o.a.o and
users-fr@o.a.o reveals that my post did not reach the corresponding
mailing list.
Request to the corresponding mailing list moderators/admins: Could you
please check, why my post did not reach the mailing list.

I will now check the landing pages for the following languages. If from
my point of view the page needs to be updated for AOO 4.0.1 release and
if I got no feedback, I will change the download landing page for these
languages to the default download page to avoid user confusion.

Please give feedback.

Hi Oliver,

I don't find a time to have a look at new download page, so for this time
SK & CS download page are broken.

I try to look at it to end of week, so the problem is that I don't know
nothing,

cause I don't have established work-flow for editing download page.

I need rework download page directly when is EN site finished, every
change in EN DN site broke

my NL DN site.

Regards, Michal Hriň.

Best regards, Oliver.

When I have collected the replies for all the above mentioned languages
I will enable the product update notification for version 4.0.1

BTW, if for your languages the user shall also be directed to a
corresponding native languages pages, then let me know this page. I will
include it in the update XML feeds.

checking the GNU gcc compiler version... configure: error: You need to use

the gcc-4.0 compiler (gcc 4.2.1 won't work with the MacOSX10.4u.sdk) - set
CC accordingly

GCC 4.2 on Mac means that you are probably using XCode4. Building our
official releases still requires XCode3 with its gcc4.0. If installing
the older XCode3 with the OSX10.4 SDK is possible for you then this
would be the fastest solution to get a build.

We/Me are working on supporting newer MacOSX build environments. If you
are adventurous you might want to try out my "rejuventate01" branch [1].
As you saw the build requirements for our current OSX release are so
ancient that there are very few developers left with such an old
environment. The rejuvenation of the OSX platform support is really
needed. Be warned: The branch is experimental, unfinished and has some
rough edges. It already produces quite usable binaries [2]. Having other
developers work on the branch too would be great. I hope I'll find the
time to get back into it again soon.

[2] http:http://people.apache.org/~hdu/AOO_Mac64_rejuv.dmg

If you're interested I suggest to check this branch out, set the
environment variables

CC=`xcrun -f clang` -arch x86_64
CXX=`xcrun -f clang++` -arch x86_64
and then continue with [3]

Guide I'm following step-by-step:
http://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/Building_Guide/Building_on_MacOSX

I'd be glad if someone can be a guide on the build process, because I'm a
bit lost from the autoconf step onwards.

The building guide is good. I updated it to make the XCode3/SDK10.4
requirement more prominent.

Display artifact in Firefox. It's fine in Inkscape or on Wikimedia Commons:

But a note:
The "M" in "TM" is shown cut off and the representation of "TM" is different in
Internet Explorer and Firefox, once serifs, once without serifs, at an official
logo should not be.
