Have no idea on the postage details, however.

Hey, I was wondering if someone could please give me the download link
for wrestling league simulator and piledriver.
I would be grateful. I have tried to find them both online but I am
having a hard time to find them.

Thanks sorry for asking to much.

[Audyssey] star conquest,

2011-06-23 Thread Che

  Hey nick,
i was referring to the new SC.
They have the best science fiction setup i've seen for muds, and I
played a lot of them before getting burned out on it all.
i'm not sure how easy it is to code for mush client, but i spent
dozens of hours developing triggers, cleaning out extraneous crap and
setting up sounds for vip mud, and it was all fairly easy to do once you
get the basics down.
For you other gamers out there, i would recommend star conquest even
if you don't like mudding or science fiction necessarily just to check
out the asteroid mining.
it is brilliant how they have set that up, and it is a real time
strategy game all on its own, and you can spend many hours jus trying to
come up with the best way to get the most ore out of the ground.
i was gonna write a book for the fringe before i left laying out
strategies for mining, but the admins pissed me off with their holier
than thou attitude when i reported a bug to them i found. i'm not into
being treated like an idiot when i'm trying to help someone out, so stay
away from the pinhead admins there and you'll have a good time.

  enjoy,
che

Since braille is one of the items that can be shipped, I wonder if these items
would be allowed since the map contains some braille. Lol, it would certainly
be a stretch, but I'm hoping this works out. I completely agree that the price
needs to be as low as possible, so if there is a way to have the shipping free
in the US, there should be no trouble there. I'm less hopeful for free
international shipping, though I would be glad if someone had a solution for

Re: [Audyssey] Does anyone know about free postage?

2011-06-23 Thread dark

Hi jeremy.

I'm not sure how it is in the us, but in the uk the rnib provides free
postage articals for the blind lables to post to and from visually impared
people.

however, the materials they can be used on can only be braille, audio tape
or the like, and cannot be used on other things, for instance my parents got
told off when sending me some of my prescription eye medication when i went
to university without it using one of said lables.

I'm also not sure if they work internationally.

I'm afraid unless there is a way to get these relatively cheaply, ie
max of 15 dollars or so outside the us, I'm not sure how useable they will
be for international players of the game, and frankly I hate the idea of the
game being us specific for just this reason.

all the best,

Dark.

[Audyssey] Does anyone know about free postage?

2011-06-23 Thread Jeremy Kaldobsky
Hey guys, at first this might not seem like it is game related, but it actually
is. I am currently stuck on something, postage related, which is holding up
the development of a game I've been making. Without going in to too much
detail, the game I'm designing with Locutus will have include actual physical
items which will be mailed out to players. These will be a tactile reference
map of the game's city, and the special head band used for head tracking as you
play the game.

During one particular chat with Nocturnus, he mentioned that since the
materials are blind-accessible, I should be able to send them postage free
through the US mail if I write "Free matter for the blind" on the package!
Saying I was excited is an understatement, since this would be the single
greatest news I've had so far on this project, rofl! I did some checking
online, but the definitions for what can and cannot be sent read like terrible
VCR instructions, and I wasn't confident I understood them. I took the time to
drive up to my local post office to as the people working there, but after
asking each other, all had heard "something" about it, but none knew how it
worked. They gave me a phone number for some higher up office, but the phone
just rings and rings forever when I try to call it. I would have expected
someone at the actual post office to know how this all worked.

Well, for the moment, I'm stuck. I'm quickly approaching the point where I
will be building large quantities of these maps and head bands so they are
ready for when the game is released. If shipping is free, these items will be
very inexpensive since I will only need to charge people for the cost of the
materials I'm using. If, however, I can't ship for free, the shipping on the
packages will be probably 2 or 3 times as much as the cheap items themselves!
I would absolutely hate that, plus it might mean less people would be
interested. If anyone has had experience using "Free matter for the blind" on
items being mailed, please help. From what I understand, registered blind
individuals can send mail out for free, but I need to know if I (a sighted
person) can mail these accessible items to all of you without there being a
postage fee.

On a somewhat related topic, I long ago built up a big piece of code that
generates star systems and planets, but never did anything with it. I've
always had this idea that it would be really cool to integrate that code

Re: [Audyssey] strategy or space combat MUDS?

2011-06-23 Thread mike maslo
I have a sound pack which is quite good. I plus star conquest and love it. I
also agree we need more fringe people. I am a fringe pilot and want more to
join us.

We are a much friendlier and less attitude driven alliance.

I do not pay attention to the reviews of any mud. I try it myself and if I
do not like it then I stop playing. This is the only mud that has ever
caught my eye and kept me here.

Are you talking about the new SC or SC classic? Last I checked, the new SC
didn't have much of a playerbase, and the reviews I'd heard about it weren't
good. However, if it is the new SC you speak of, and there is a soundpack
available, I'll give it a look. Are you speaking of the new SC, and where
can one go to find a soundpack for it?
thanks!

Re: [Audyssey] strategy or space combat MUDS?

2011-06-23 Thread dark

Hay dennis.

nope, star ships would not be correct for alterean, but maybe with the new
ship system that is entering the game you might considder altering some of
the coding for sea going vessels to create islands instead of planets.

I'd love to start exploring the seas of the game and discovering new
islands, however I'm not currently sure what the ship system allows,
particularly if it allows a player to have their own ship solo or whether
crewing ships is only a group thing.

However, presumably for the starship code, you implemented one man vessels
and vessels with an ai crew, which could be great additions to the
seafairing aspects of the game.

Of course, sinse I'm stil on arcase (which seems to have a ship yard but no
way of actually trying sailing beyond what is possible with the swimming
skill), I've not really investigated this aspect of the game yet, though as
someone who loves exploration I'm quite eager to.

All the best,

Dark.

On a somewhat related topic, I long ago built up a big piece of code
that generates star systems and planets, but never did anything with
it. I've always had this idea that it would be really cool to
integrate that code into a game and let people explore with it, but it
never seemed an appropriate thing to add to a fantasy mud. I should
take another look at that code one of these days.

[Audyssey] mush sapi trouble

2011-06-23 Thread dark
Hi.

I'm trying to set mushclient with sapi up on my laptop, but am having troubles.

the escape interupt isn't working at all, meaning it's near impossible to
actually read anything as sapi speaks every single message in ful leaving me a
long way behind what's going on.

This doesn't happen on my desktop, but I can't find how to access the mush sapi
settings.

I've tried entering sapi or tts at the prompt, but it's not helping, nor do I
see anything related to sapi in the config command.

Any advise would be appreciated, sinse currently this makes the game rather
unplayable.

Beware the grue!

Dark.

Dark,

You can actually play the game using a dial up modem once you have the
client and/or soundpack downloaded. Your parent's connection should
be fine :)

Hi.

sounds awsome, always nice to have new stuff to discover and new spells

skills to use.

Just a quick question, how fast a connection do I need? I'm currently at
my

parents' who have a more minimal broardband package than I do, something
like about a speed of 4 or 5 mb rather than the 17-20 I get in my flat.

Will this be okay for alterean?

if so, i'll look at installing the soundpack on my laptop so that I can
play

here.

All the best,

Dark.

Re: [Audyssey] acefire patch

2011-06-23 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi,

Yes, this is exactly the sort of thing Damien was hoping to avoid, and
I believe one reason he hesitated in releasing these games. If you
give somebody something there is always a certain number of people who
will ignore the fact that the game is abandonware, no longer
supported, no longer being updated, and request upgrades, fixes, etc.
This is exactly what Jack is doing right now, and Damien was clear he
wants nothing to do with the game any more. So why request he upgrade
the game knowing that Damien specifically said he offers no support or
updates of any kind?

Cheers!

Hi Damien,
Although you included the acefire cheats as part of the acefire
package, it still doesn't allow me instant access to the cheat codes.
I actually had to downgrade to acefire 1.3 to use the cheat codes.
Before you completely take acefire down from the net, could you please
release a patch that will fix the game to recognize that the cheats
are now one of the core components of the package? Also in the dc doc,
you mentioned in the known issues section that there was a bug that
allowed cheating to be used. What kind of cheating were you talking
about?
Thanks.
best regards,
jack
