I played for quite some time, though stopped about 18 months ago, I did however get quite far in the game, level 50 with a settlemene, genesis base and lots of stuff, so any questions feel free to ask. Hello Ron. Core Exiles is a space stratogy and rpg game played in your internet browser. You have a spaceship and get to fly around. You can fight other ships, mine asteroids, explore planets and derelict spacecraft, haul cargo, battle mechs and lots of other things. The ggame is entirely free though you can buy various items with real money to help you, albeit none of them are absolutely necessary. The really unique thing about the game is that firstly a lot of trouble and time has gone into access,, which given it has lots of images is a good thing, and secondly that it has absolutely no player vs player combat at all! It even said this when I tried to create a totally unique username and password. So, what am I doing wrong? Yeah but it really isn't that difficult a site to navigate and use really. I've been playing there for 2 years and it's only ever got easier not harder. I used to bother, but after getting extracted goods, and not finding anywhere to sell them then the fact I really need a bigger ship, plus not getting a good irc client to chat on, and the fact I needed a bigger cargo hold to mine effectively then well trying to get enough cash to make ends meet and I lost interest quite fast. Hi Carry. Yes, the galaxy map is inaccessible. Fortunately, the galaxy plotter works fine. This lets you put in a start and end system into the list boxes and be shown all the systems you must go through, so know where your going, it also gives the fuel cost. Core exiles is a really amazing online space game. it's really hard to say whether it's a space exploration and war rpg, an economic stratogy of resource management, a building a progressive stratogy game, or what, sinse there really are so many things to do. Myself, I do combat, salvage and mining interspursed wita bit of hauling to earn extra cash, and of course exploration when I can as well, but it all depends upon what you choose to do. The best thing about it as well is that even with the paid options it doesn't overbalance the game in that free players have the exact same opportunities as people who have premium accounts. Of course there are advantages but they aren't the type that will automatically put you ahead by having a premium account. The other good thing about it is that it's fully persistent. It never ends and your account doesn't get wiped for at least 6 months of inactivity. Agreed. I've seen too many games that squeeze people for money, by having parts that art impossible without paid gear or just making the paid gear so awsome you won't get on with out it. This is what put me off Sryth, what should've been a case of you pay for the game and buy an extra item if you like turned into the gm raising the game and item quality of the commercial stuf to the point where you couldn't get on with his new quests without it. This to my mind is just plane greedy, not to mention slightly dishonest oh yes, premium account access all areas! As to ce, I get the feeling Coops has really put a significant amount of thought into balancing items that are commercially available. You can't buy yourself anything that will win you the game, nor is anything a required purchice to get in game content. Beware the grue! By recommending a friend the new player gets a whole host of free stuff as too does the person who's name you put in the recommended field. Core exiles is a free to play game. I use irc but I also have the tirc script installed and it works fine. I know it's old but it does work totally fine. Glad to see you back in the game. I never reset my account I just picked up from where I left off. It's still great fun! Am currantly at lvl40. I have 4 ip resets and after christmas/new year I think I will hit reset on my ip andd refine my skills. Well, resetting was a bit dratstic, but I really couldn't remember where I was, luckily I'm proegressing fast and should hit level ten soon. I've got Mirc working at the moment. I just hope that it's basically useable after the free trile period has run out though, sinse I'm not sure if I want to buy a program just for ce chat. in fact, as I'm not using any or Mirc's more complicated functions, I might well be switching to standard irc anyway. the advantage of resetting is actually financial, sinse I'm able now to know that most of the stuff which comes with the starter package isn't actually necessary, sinse with a premium account and level 4 or 5 engine I practically never ran out of fuel, even on long hawling and passenger runs right across the galaxies, mostly I think because I kept stopping to read location bios and other info ;D. Actually, I will say the pa account comes in handy for the event changing, and also the use of the gbm to post contracts. As i recall, without the pa account, bad events can be quite a pest, though certainly nothing major. also, this means two extra fuel per tick, which, with a level 5 engine means 17 fuel every 15 mins, so literally unlimited fuel. The thing I enjoy most in Ce, is wandering around, completing missions and looking for random stuff. so, I've decided this time to mix a litle mining in with that combat. Both use scan tech skills, both use device skills, both use drone skills, both require reactors eventually to boost ship energy. so, i bought some mining skill so that I can use variety of mining lasers. I also got some more points in energy which will help when i start looking for salvage. Last time I went with kinetic weapons, but I really had to push to get them doing enough damage, where as energy seems far more efficient. I may have to sacrifice part of the skill, eg, not refine my own ore, but there are players who can do that if needs be, and refining isn't as interesting to me as the general scan and mine process. Pluss, i don't plan on using combat missiles. I might well have to have two sets of equipment to switch in and out, a mining set and a fighting set, but this wouldn't be too bad. Of course, it might be that I'll find I can't be successful at both things at once but that's what Ip resets are for. Previously I basically went pure combat pluss hawling but that left me doing the same thing much of the time, basically flying around on long runs, alternating betwene bits of fighting and it'd be nice to have at least some choice. Of course, I might entirely fail at this, in which case that's what Ip resets are for. Beware the Grue! I did combat and hawling before, but I found I couldn't really complete what missions I wanted, hence my deswire to do some mining on the side, - but with slvage in the mix we'll have to see how that goes. Well am getting back into it again. You can own multiple ships now but only use 1 at a time. There's new mission and passenger types and a few extra pods that I haven't seen before. It's looking a little better. I played intensively for a short space of time, but then needed to go off and do some serious work. when i got back to the game, I'd forgotten where I was, what I was doing, and much of how to play, sinse while the tutorial and guides are great on specific things, there isn't really a manual for quick reference. i'd actually appreciate an account reset, sinse I just haven't managed to pick up the game again at all. Well to be honest I tried for as long as I could but after doing some extracting and mining and with all the extra chatting besides the fact I couldn't find a good irc client, then the part about my life. THe fact was and still is to some extent that I am spending to much time online. Though most of this can not be helped, I actually need to get a job and earn some cash in order to keep living. This job involves playing music. As you can see having any long online engagement such as a mud or online game I need to be part of or maintain is just not going to work. If I ever hit online gaming it will be something short that I can run, leave if I need to then come back. something I can save, most of the blind games fit that catogry. web games that are not something like ffproject.com or alter ego for example will probably not be peaking my interest I just don't want to get addicted. on that note however is there other game book sites like ffproject.com where the site engine does all the dice roles. While its true I can play a web game book you start knowing in advance what numbered pages will cause you to fail, and thats not fun. In ffproject I can't read the rest of the book without completing a section. in some cases thats a real pain, but if I can crack the secret of a book what is the point of playing it. [Audyssey] core exiles questions
Hi. I have a couple questions on ce I'd like answered. 1. how do I put say my extracted goods on the player market that are in storage? or how do I put the stuff on the gbm there are a load of list boxes. Today I have just recieved a message that again I ran out of cash in the bank to pay for storage. and that brings me to the next question. Because of various things, and life in general, computers being as they are etc, my focus has shifted some what. Ok so the main reason I went on vacation was to wind down a bit from shooting things and finding where to sell my stuff etc during the holidays. However after that I seem to be going through the motions. that is every morning I log in and check game mail and I have no thought of actually doing anything. So today I have decided I have to go. its no use trying to play when I have no intention of doing so. so how do you delete your game account, forum account etc. I suppose I could wait for a month or so but I know if I don't do this now I'm just gona procrastinate some more and then its going to be like another year or 2 and I'll never do anything bar check my mail. Lets ace it. I havn't really earnt enough cash to justify staying in the game. I havn't really cought up in actual game things, never chatted never done to much with the guild, and never actually done much in the way of real progress. heck I don't even have the cash to get everything I want or need, now combat would be a good thing if I could only get a few more special slots and energy packs but guess what every thing external needs special slots like buffs and since I have 2 and they are armour not that this does much, my weapon is ok but quite blaa. And i seem to have lost the point somewhere because right now I am a zombie. wake up, check bogs and podcasts check game mail. delete game mail without even reading it lately anyway and log off. its the same with my blog although I still write in there enough to justify staying there. The point of this message is enough is enough!!! If I am not gona blimming do anything then I need to get rid of this thing so someone else can have a space. I don't see me actually playing anymore in the future unless that is I somehow can sell my items in my extracter somehow which are in the comercial store, mine more and then somehow get another ship, maybe some extra slots, an expander, energy, more skill points, I have used my reset right now, and maybe what it takes to get back into shooting things which is where all th real cash is. Without having to porn all my stuff off just to get enough to live in the gamiverse. As you can see thats a long list and while i accept a bigger ship tank and some other things are not in my ligue right now the rest, well I think at minimum I need to get rid of my stuff in storage because its costing me cash. I can either try to sell it which would be good if I knew how it all worked or give it away and sell my extracter. That would get rid of the costs but its not gona have me play the game as such. so any help would rock. I don't care where this message goes. Hi. Ok what you need to do is the following: 1. send your goods using the commercial store transport facility from your location to where the gbm is. You'll get a better price on the gbm and also once you've emptied your goods from any extractors you should move them to gbm system anyway as it will save you paying per location you only then pay per product. 2. advertise your goods on the buy/sell forums. In the dropdown where it shows you the active npc trade combat missions, look for buy sell forum. Just hit b on that and you'll find it. Go into there and advertise your products. Note it doesn't quite work properly with ie so use firefox for this. Actually just use firefox permanently. 3. advertise on chat. That's a good way to get some funds too. 4. sell on the gbm. This is how you do it: A. move all goods to the gbm planet sg in descart. B. fly there. C. dock at planet. D. go to the npc there. E. talk to him. Once you've done that it will take you to the gbm. The gbm is organized in a table. Everything there is for sale you don't buy anything there. It's all organized in alphabetical and price order. Alphabet first then if there's a single item with multiple contracts it's then organized by price. Fill in the correct field then click on sell. You have to do this each time. A quick way to get back to your place on the table is to copy the text of the product to the clipboard, then paced it into either your browser or screen reader find option which ever you prefer to use and it will take you back there. Hello everyone, I havent checked this lists for months and months now. Very happy to notice on my return that there is a new and accessible browser based game! In the past i played ashes of angels (found it rather slow and dull) and still at times play aegis as far as online browser-games are concerned but it is always great to know there is new stuff out there. I play the game alternatively on my mac using safari (safari can be pretty slow and sluggish at times for me but the game is the most accessible that way) ow in windows using hal and webformator but then comboboxes dont seem to work (i am using ie). I have the same problem with combo boxes. The way I get around it is, when in forms mode, route the jaws cursor to PC, then route PC to Jaws. [Audyssey] Core Exiles Woes: Combo Boxes
HI Gang, I've just tried to playh Core Exiles for the first time. I've created my account and tried to use the combo box to select an activity. But even though I hit the space bar before arrowing down through the list, I get sent to another page. Am I forgetting something? I'm running JFW 9 on an XP Home system. I've now tried holding down the left ALT key while using the arrows, but it doesn't scroll through the options, it just sticks there. use alt down arrow to get at the boxes. the first box is only good if you want to log out, read docs, enter markets. etc the second box is only good if you are on a mission or need to get access to the location program. I suggest you join a guild you get bonuses. but may have to contribute stuff alter on. I am with intelliquest pronounced interleqest by most readers but communications and emails and osme listings are put as intelli quest so whatever. I suggest you go to senfaren, I think and get the gild offices there I think, forgot havn't been there for ages. I know the office is in the feren system or is that the gbm? There are probably others that can tell you where. I also suggest you follow the message about getting the extra 20 k sign up in the forums and post to the hellow thread a greeting. after that well I haven't bothered. Right now I am stuck in a bit of a bother. I have enough cash thanks to the guild, for christmas and such. I can buy a bigger gun and get back in combat. In fact I can get most weapons. I am unfortunately level 17 not higher so I can only get a level17 weapon. Right now with my scanner basic sensor I have 300 units of power left. the lowest I found was 383 units of power. I am trying to find something I can use. On that note, how do you sell your oar you have extracted? I have some inert gas and some reactive gas. its currently been in storage for a few months. I need to know how to sell the stuff. How do I do it on the gbm? I get it, talk to the npc on sangalen but then what? there is a big list of items on the screen no where to list anything new. On that note though if something is in storage can I enter it on a player market? I know tagons tribute has storage for this extracted stuff but how do I enter that on the player market. I'd like to make cash more cash than I am right now. Oh and don't be fulled. you should be able to get the cash to continue a ways but eventually you will need to get biger things. [Audyssey] Core exiles how cool!
Well I'm still enjoying this game! Lol I'm getting 4 ashar missions in my hold at any given time now! I've been experimenting with how many missions I can get and so far I've managed to get 4 in the starter ship. A tip for anybody out there who's doing passenger runs. Firstly, always do runs to different galaxies. But try and make your runs to the same galaxy so you can maximise fuel burn efficiency with xp and financial bonus's. where possible, try and do this with the ashar runs. Also try and gain favour with the outsider galaxy as well. In addition, having read up a bit on the forums, use all of your structure points up. So make sure you can use all the extractors that you can use. Whether it be personal commercial or industrial. This way you will maximise your profits for later. I've found my profits are starting to shoot up now majorly. I'm saving for a nice multirole ship now. Hi all, Well I'm at lvl 30 now with a grand total of about 8.5m cr to my name. am looking for a new ship. Any thoughts? I'm really aiming sooner or later for the liberator as that's a really nice looking bit of kit and that will do me until I decide what to do from then on. But that's only going to come when I have a ton of money lol. Something which I don't exactly have yet. So any thoughts? well you need at least 16 mill for the next ship entry level up. I suggest you stay with entry level ships first then work yourself up to the multipurpose, I am not up there yet but I wouldn't specialise unless thats what you are doing. Hello, I find Core-Exiles to be quite accessible. I am using Jaws on a Vista office machine with IE 8. I could not get it to work properly with FireFox (which they suggest). The game requires a fair amount of strategic thinking. If you ever played the old Trade Wars from a BBS, parts of the game are similar (at least for strategy). Hello Dark, I am on core-exiles as of two days ago. I am now at level 5 and still working my way through the initial missions. I am running Jaws V. 10 on Windows Vista Office and am not experiencing the problems with the web interface which you have discussed here. When I use the scan area, jaws sorts the table out properly. So, after each bit of ship information, the first button is view which allows you to see specific breakdown of shields, armor, hull points, number of weapons and tunnage, and finally the speed of the ship. Then, there is a button labeled engage. Or, you can just hit the attack button. Both buttons are right after the ship description and quite easy to find. Note: I am using Internet Explorer because I could not get Firefox to interact properly with the game. The only work-around which I need to do is press control-enter any time a link opens a new window. If I do not manually initiate the new window call, the link will not activate. Try downloading the demo of Jaws and playing the game in a 40 minute slice and see if you still have the same problems with the web interface. It is a very addicting game. Hi, Repair options it's called, click on that then choose between shield armour or hull repairs. two principle problems. Firstly, using shields apparently alters the threat balance betwene you and the enemy and thus affects your xp and bounty reward. More than that though, they can't be auto repared accept by tw system armour. Sinse those repare kits are expensive, and even in the best fight you end up having to use them, I didn't want to get a shield until I had the auto repare system for it. That took a loot of device skill, not to mention money. Oh, and shields also cost energy, though sinse i've bought an engine from the cp store with a pretty huge energy output, this isn't as much of a big deal. I've now got to make enough cash for the various things I need, then I'll give that marauder what for! Beware the grue! Yeah I quit my renigade mission to handle some trading, its quite boring right now, but for now at least I can't do much. I have as high armour as I can afford, maybe I will get up maybe 60 grand eventually to get combat drones, maybe enough to get 20-40 of the beggers then maybe I may try again. Yeah shields are not on my list, new armour is, and maybe a new ship, since ships have base armour and energy so thats that. As for out game things I don't know, the out of game shop where you buy stuff for the game has limited things at any rate I can probably get most what I need in the player market. I'd strongly advise a passenger cabin, you really can get lots of money in hawlage and trading that way. Buying extractors (if you can spare the Ip for survey skill), and mining drones also helps. combat drones aren't that expensive at all, I just for instance stuck my old lvl one drone on the markit for I believe 20 K, you also can only have one at once in battle, they do make a big difference though. when I've got a couple more levels, I'm thinking I'll buy a new ship from the player store, sinse their only about 13 dollars or so, where as their about 7 million in game. Sinse I bought a peetza at the weakend for about that price, I think i can afford it to save me the weaks and weaks of cash saving in game it'd take otherwise.
