You might be going to the wrong airport. I found that in some missions, I have to really listen carefully with NVDA to catch the exact name of the airport I need to go to. [Audyssey] Problem with Swamp.
Hi everyone, I know this is a long standing bug, but when I finish a ctf mission in Swamp, I find myself tossed out into the middle of the map I'm on, ie map 5, and in the middle of a sworm. I switched to my vulcan, but the zombies broke it, then the really frustrating part, the game switches to my ax, which in a sworm isn't the best weapon in the world, unless you're really good at dodging. I really feel the game should switch to an alternitive weapon other than the ax, perhaps a favourite weapon instead? It's really frustrating having no time to heal or even switch weapons, you just know you're going to die. I don't mind dying usually, but map 5 is especially difficult to traverce with only basic gear. What do others think? It would be cool if you could have it switch to a favorite weapon instead of defaulting to the axe. I remember always thinking that. [Audyssey] Problem With Psycho Strike
Hi all, I encountered something of a problem with Psycho Strike I hope someone here could help me with. A little while ago I was playing Psycho Strike and decided to try out the farm mission. After playing a minute or so I decided I did not want to play that mission and could not exit the game or the mission. I tried q, the escape key, and alt+f4 all to no success. The game refused to exit. I ended up having to go into Windows Task Manager and forcibly shutting down the program. Is there an easier way to exit the program? Hi. Unfortunately the problem isn't the game here, so much as the fact that your not able to do normal mouse operations with the braillenote. Clicking on text that isn't links is a fairly common operation in games from funtrivia to puppet nightmares, indeed I've seen some news sites and services that use the same thing. Re: [Audyssey] problem with astrogalaxy
With the system jumps it is possible to click the links and guess (how I got through most of the tutorial originally), difficult way around, and you'll not find that possible when you get to interstellar jumps because there are far more stars than planets and you don't get told when you click on them what they are you just get the course set, which is why the text access needed adding in the first place, as I said if your missing it you should think about switching to a propper browser sinse your missing quite major information about the game. For instance, The Qp use again I think your missing the increase use button. Beware the grue! DArk. Ok, figured out how to get past the qp issue, but now I'm having a problem with research. The tutorial says to research ftl to 2. There is a text box that says use rp points and a confirm research link. Are the individual things like ftl a mouse clicking thing? The moon is on the system map on the right, it's not a link it's a clickable hotspot on the page in that textual list of system objects. If the braillenote can emulate mouse clicks, do a double click on the text that says the moon If you can't emulate mouse clicks streight off and the braillenote is tied just to standard sorts of web controls like links there might be a problem here. Unfortunately those sorts of hotspots are fairly common in web games, I can think of several in core exiles, and puppet nightmares is full of them. I just clicked in the empty space on the ship column where the hot spot was. Empty slots aren't labeled, but they have a standard mouseover and can be clicked. To be honest though you don't even need to click the empty slot, just going to the modules, selecting modules in cargo bay and hitting the install link will install into the first available free slot on your ship anyway, and I don't really think it matters where! you stic stuff on your ship, just so long as it is there. Unfortunately, the navigation option is still inaccessible because the links to click on the stars are unlabeled and there is no text alternative, and it's that which you need to use to complete step 18. I appologise for this, I might have jumped the gun a little hear in thinking all the access fixes were up. I've mailed the developer to ask about this and hopefully the navigation menu can get the same text fixes as happened elsewhere. This does mean your pretty much swapping out modules and obeying the tutorial rather than playing sensibly, but hay it's an educationn in how! to play, not intended as a perfect start. I just look forward to the navigation being fixed, so then we can participate fully in the game, the idea of flying out to a literally unknown star is really nice. Beware the grue! Re: [Audyssey] problem with astrogalaxy
David, I'm afraid this is probably where 99% of your problem is coming from. The web browser in this notetaker is not good, and frankly you would be better served by finding almost any other piece of software to use. Any modern version of Jaws, or NVDA, orVoiceOver on iOS or the Mac, would be infinitely better for playing a game like this. The issue is that these games tend to use fairly advanced features of the web browser, and your Braillenote doesn’t support any of them. I don’t mean to come off as patronizing, but this issue is easilysolved by finding any other way to play. Best, Zack. [Audyssey] problem with astrogalaxy
I've got to step 18 in the tutorial, calculated the course and there does seem to be an issue. There seem to be three different ways of plotting interstellar courses, the Starmap, which lets you plot long range courses (I think you can hit multiple stars), and which has the same text navigation commands as the system map, the navcomp, which I believe noticed places you've been, and the navigation option which I think shows local stars around you. Ironically, sinse the scan data for stars and other objects is already in the game in text, it's just a question of hooking this to the right parts of the game. This has already happened with the system navigation and the starmaps for long range jumps, hopefully the navigation will be fixed soon as well. Re: [Audyssey] problem with astrogalaxy
Two things: in NVDA, the ship diagram reads as clickable for an empty slot. In fact however, unless you actually care where a module goes, you can allow AG to install it for you by simply clicking on the install command in the module array that looks like a table but sadly isn't, at least according to NVDA. The thing about the Space Exploration Agency tutorial is that you have to do things exactly the way they say. I had a very slightly different configuration to my ship than the one they recommended, and I couldn't get the task checked until I went back through the nineteen steps necessary to re-jigger my ship to meet their specs, even though my decisions were perfectly good. In other words, the simulation is excellent, even of educational bureaucracy. We added autoconnect only a few months ago. You probably installed from an earlier version that didn't do autoconnect. Running the updater can update most of your settings, but it won't update the autoconnect setting. Re: [Audyssey] Problem with Mushclient
I would suggest that rather than installing a new copy of mushclient, you simply create a new world with the same client used for mush-z. Mush-z is simply a world created and distributed along with a copy of mushclient; the client is not modified in any way, and is perfectly suited for playing other muds. Hi. I treasuremania you need to either center the sound of the chest or hit c for the chest detector which will sound an alarm when your over the chest. As to light cars, well you can only be in three positions, center, left or right, the object is to dodge the cars coming at you and on advanced mode, the holes as well, you don't change direction you just dodge sinse Light cars is an arcade style game rather than a racing game. Hi. You need to lower the hook down quite a long way. if your sure your in the right spot (use the chest detector as I said with C), just keep hitting the button until it gets there, just make sure that no fish runs into it on the way down (listen for the fish in the sea). Hi Ishan, In Light Cars all you have to do is use your arrow keys to move left and right as cars try and hit you. You use the left and right arrow keys to move out of there way and pass them on the road. As for Tresure Mania its been a long time since playing that game. You need to get good at the sound queues in order to hook the chests and pull them to the surface. In other words practice at it and follow the directions in the manual. Cheers! Well if the chest detector isn't going off it means your in the wrong place, if I remember rightly you need to be fairly precise, and also bare in mind the waves will shove your boat around so it helps to be fast with your hook. Hi Dark, Correct. You have to be pretty precise about lining up over those chests in order to hook them, and it takes a bit of practice to hook them. Plus as you mentioned the waves can and do push your boat around meaning if you do get lined up the current can and will sometimes throw your aim off. Cheers! Re: [Audyssey] Problem in STFC
Hi Ishan, Before I can help you I need to know what kind of system are you trying to run STFC on. Unfortunately, at the time when I wrote that particular game 64-bit processors were rare, and I did not build 64-bit compatibility into the game. So it will not run on newer Windows 7 and Windows 8 machines running on an AMD 64-bit processor. Also that game was written using Microsoft's .NET technology which means you need to have .NET Framework 3.0 or hire, Managed DirectX, and a couple of other .NET components. So figuring out what kind of system you have will go a long way to helping us get the game up and running. Cheers! Re: [Audyssey] Problem in STFC
Hi Ishan, STFC 1.2 will run on a 32-bit version of Windows 7 which you said you have. The only thing I can figure is that you are missing some DirectX components. Managed DirectX and DirectX 9.0C are not the same thing. So please don't confuse them. To get Managed DirectX, go to the Microsoft DirectX web site, download the web installer, and run it. It will scan your system and then install any missing components as well as update those on your system. As far as improvements to the game those in the works. STFC is in rewrite, has been rewritten from the ground up in C++, and has none of the compatibility issues and bugs in the 1.x version. Cheers! [Audyssey] Problem with Self Destruct, can anyone help?
Hello everyone on this list. I've recently been exploring Damien Pendleton's webpage out of interest. Under the games part I've found a cool game, Self Destruct. Its where you've got to escape a room on a grid, but you've got a bomb which goes off when you have 0 moves. But can I ask, does this game not work under Windows7 properly? The Keygen used to register will not work, I keep getting an error message saying something like the product ID doesn't exist. Then when I try to run the game I get a message saying that a certain component is not correctly registered or a file is invalid. Has anyone got this game to work? Thanks! Re: [Audyssey] Problem with Self Destruct, can anyone help?
Gary, I don't mind telling you that this game, which was originally developed by somebody else and then maintained by myself after he abandoned it, is terribly designed. I couldn't make any sense of the source code, and it wasn't even designed with Windows 7 in mind. It was developed in Visual Basic 6, an old and depricated language that needs a bunch of extra dependencies, which came all nicely hooked up on Windows XP, however they have to be installed and registered manually on Windows Vista and later. The biggest problem component, it seems, for Visual Basic 6 games, is the Visual Basic wrapper for DirectX8, which is a file called DX8VB.dll. I have a little utility that will install and register that for you automatically (perhaps I should put that up on my site if I am going to host these games...Thanks for the reminder!). However, the problem with the key generator I have never been able to resolve, nor have I even been able to compile a version without all the registration nonsense, which is rather sad. I have often wondered whether I shouldn't simply take that game down and completely destroy it in the most evil way possible. Grin. If I can be of any further help, just let me know. Kind regards, Damien. -Original Message- From: Gary Price(Gmail) Sent: Tuesday, February 04, 2014 4:06 PM To: Gamers@audyssey.org Subject: [Audyssey] Problem with Self Destruct, can anyone help? [Audyssey] problem solved
I sent a query earlier about how to return to a previously solved puzzle when using the crosswords down words app for iDevices. I wanted to show a puzzle that I had previously worked, but show it before having been solved. Since then, I have figured out how to do it. If you want to know, continue reading. Otherwise, stop at this point. Double tap on the new button. A 3 by 4 grid appears, each being pronounced by Voice-Over as dark square. Double tap on the desired puzzle. In this case, I wanted to redisplay puzzle 1 of 12, so I double tapped on the top left dark square. The puzzle, unsolved, will appear. --- Be positive! [Audyssey] Problem running Entombed on Windows 7
Hi all, I don't know if there was a topic regarding this before, but then I didn't still have the Win 7 and if there was a topic I probably skipped it. I can't run the Entombed game on my new computer with Windows 7 32-bit. When I try to run it, I get a long error that I sent to an email address which I found on the Entombed site a few days ago, but I didn't get the response. I also downloaded the zip file containing all needed files separately but it didn't help either. I won't coppy the error here as it is pritty long and dont want to clutter up the allowed memory if it is not necessary. However if you want me to send the error please tell me and I will. Hi Milos: I am afraid you will have to send that error message or at least the main gist of it otherwise we can't tell you what is wrong. I am running Entombed on Windows 7 without error so I can only assume it is a dependency issue. You are either missing the latest XNA Framework, or you have the new version of Entombed that uses the Microsoft SQL runtimes which can sometimes be problematic. Either way, it is essential that we get to read that error message so we can try and resolve the problems you are having. Cheers! Re: [Audyssey] Problem running Entombed on Windows 7
Hi Milos: HmmIt looks to me like this runtime error was do to a program error when saving or loading something to your hard drive. What exactly were you doing when this error popped up? Hi Michael, That is a pretty common error. Re: [Audyssey] problem accessing audiogames.net with firefox
Hi Richard, Not quite sure what the problem is, but it sounds like for some reason you somehow blocked Audiogames.net in Firefox. I have Firefox 22 both on Windows and Linux and don't have any issues accessing the site from either one. So I don't think it is anything specific to Firefox per say. Sounds to me like something is wrong with your setup. You may have to delete your personal Firefox settings, and create new ones and see if that fixes the problem. Generally, I believe they would be found in c:\Users\User Name\Application Data\Roming\Mozilla or something like that. You can move your settings to somewhere else, and then see if creating new ones fixes your problem. Cheers! Hi Tom. I don't doubt your right on the firefox issue, however obviously I know people have used firefox on the forums with no trouble, and certainly on the occasion when I personally encountered a 403 error code it was an issue with corrupted permission settings in the server code for a board (or that's what the admin said when i E-mailed him about the problem. Re: [Audyssey] problem accessing audiogames.net with firefox
hmmph, looked at the forums on mozilla site. Its a problem with firefox, mainly the suggestions seem to try to go to https or forget the www letters or something. there have been various things with address bar not putting stuff in right. A coman solution was to type into the address bar directly and also to clear cookies and temp files, maybe do this on exit of your brouser if you can. there was also a bug with errors not displaying right. So yes yesterday should have searched the nets before opening my mouth. There are enough posts and some topics this year that have me thinking that there is probably some truth to some of this stuff. I wander if ff has an error log it would have what it was trying to do. A lot of stuff on the mozilla site and mozilla must be aware about this surely. you could try asking on forums it seems to happen to the odd person quite a few of them if the google results were to be believed. Hi Dark, With a 403 it can go either way. It certainly could be corrupted permission settings on the Audiogames.net end, but as it is only happening on Richard's system that rules out Audiogames.net being the primary issue in this case. If it were on Audiogames.net's end I'd likely be having the issue as well, and Internet Explorer users would be effected too. [Audyssey] problem accessing audiogames.net with firefox
Hello, Using firefox version 22 on a windows 7 ultimate machine and jaws 13. However I do believe this started before updating to version 22. I think i had either version 17 or 19 at the time. for about a month now I have not been able to access any part of audiogames.net. The error message I get is: 403 Forbidden Forbidden You don't have permission to access /listgames.php on this server. Apache/2.2.16 (Debian) Server at audiogames.net Port 80 I have tried typing it it manually or going thru a google search with no luck. Ran clean up to remove all temp files and still no go. Strange thing is that IE 9 will bring up the site with no problem. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. shermanator --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. [Audyssey] problem contacting l-works
Hi everyone, I’ve recently had to re-enstall Super Egghunt Plus after my laptop crashed. I lost a lot of data including my key for the game, and even though I’ve sent a few requests to Liam for a replacement, I’ve not had any response, is anyone else having this problem? Thanks from Lori. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Liam does stress that it is your own responsibility to save the keys and other data to a safe place. But should you need desperate help he should only be an e-mail or a tweet away. Re: [Audyssey] problem contacting l-works
I know, I'd saved all my stuff to a back-up hard drive I had, then on my new machine, I started up the drive, only to be told that the files on it were invalid or corrupted, I don't know if the virus was put to the drive too as well as my laptop, but didn't want to chance wrecking my new one. -Original Message- From: Chris H Sent: Thursday, June 13, 2013 5:36 PM To: Gamers Discussion list Subject: Re: [Audyssey] problem contacting l-works Liam does stress that it is your own responsibility to save the keys and other data to a safe place. Re: [Audyssey] problem contacting l-works
Ok fair enough just contact Liam via e-mail or Twitter and explain the situation. Re: [Audyssey] problem contacting l-works
I have sent requests to him to and never got a responce. when I asked on the lworks list he said he was probably having issues and not recieving but then no private or other addresses work and I have several. They don't error out so they have definately gone through but they are probably in a spam folder though one of this addresses is on gmail.
