  Everyone,

Tomorrow, April 21st the Early Access of Killing Floor 2 will launch.
In preparation for launch, we're putting out the word to see if server
hosts can prop up whatever slots they can to support the peak player count
on launch day/launch weekend. Since we've never launched an Early Access
game before, it is a bit difficult to estimate what the peak player counts
might be. Our best estimates put it likely to be around 25,000 peak player
slots needed on launch day/the day after. So any help to meet this demand
would be greatly appreciated by Tripwire.

The server files for tomorrows launch are already live, and available
right now on SteamCMD. So if you update now, you'll be ready for the launch
tomorrow. If you are considering running a server and haven't set one up
before, you can find information on how to host a server here:

[hlds] Desperately Need Some Killing Floor 2 Servers Up

2015-04-21 Thread John Gibson
Hello everyone,

So the good news is Killing Floor 2 is selling like crazy, and bumped GTAIV
off the Steam top sellers in about 15 minutes. The bad news is, 17,000
people are trying to play KF2 right now (and it's going up a couple
thousand every few minutes) and we've got enough servers up to handle about
7,000 players. Success is a good problem to have, but wow this really blew
away our expectations.

away our expectations.

As such we're in dire needs of LOTS of servers up. Right now there are
enough servers to handle about 5,000 players, and we have over 16,000
people playing right now. Within the next few hours we'll likely pass
25,000, and by tomorrow we could be at 50,000 players.

Can you all get servers up to help us meet this initial peak? The game is
selling like crazy, but we're really in serious need of servers as soon as
possible.

Thanks everyone!

Could somebody post a working command line with the -multihome argument?
As simple as it may seem I cannot seem to run more than 1 KF2 server right
now due to lack of detail on the Wiki regarding the command lines.

One would assume the following to work given the details on the wiki but
this is not the case for me:
start .\Binaries\win64\kfserver kf-bioticslab?MaxPlayers=6?GameDifficulty=0
-Multihome 192.168.0.1

Ah it's fine, I managed to fix it. I'd set up the configs fine, however I
had forgotten = sign for ConfigSubDir: Should be like this -ConfigSubDir=X.

So for webadmin, ensure the port is set correctly in KFWeb.ini. Ensure that
bEnabled is set true in KFWeb.ini (Not PCServer-KFEngine, even though it is
present) and ensure you have an admin password set in PCServer-KFGame.ini.

In preparation for launch, we're putting out the word to see if server

servers to handle about 5,000 players, and we have over 16,000 people playing
right now. Within the next few hours we'll likely pass 25,000, and by tomorrow
we could be at 50,000 players.

Can you all get servers up to help us meet this initial peak? The game is
selling like crazy, but we're really in serious need of servers as soon as
possible.
Thanks everyone!

Did you try running the redist file packaged with the server (I think it's

Everyone,

Tomorrow, April 21st the Early Access of Killing
Floor 2 will launch. In preparation for launch, we're
putting out the word to see if server hosts can prop
up whatever slots they can to support the peak player
count on launch day/launch weekend. Since we've never
launched an Early Access game before, it is a bit
difficult to estimate what the peak player counts
might be. Our best estimates put it likely to be
around 25,000 peak player slots needed on launch
day/the day after. So any help to meet this demand

Re: [hlds] Desperately Need Some Killing Floor 2 Servers Up

Can you post a sample command line for us?

For example (and I know the KF2 command line will be different because it
isn't source, but), a TF2 command line would look something like this:

srcds.exe -game tf -console +ip 123.456.789.1011 -port 27015 +maxplayers 32
 -tickrate 66 +rcon_password +exec server.cfg +map ctf_2fort

If you could add a few command line examples to the Wiki, that would be
great.

Re: [hlds] Desperately Need Some Killing Floor 2 Servers Up

Ahmed,

The event viewer actually uploads crash info directly to us. So users don't
have to read what it says, it will tell us, our programmers will read what
it says, and then fix the issues. And that is a big part of what Early
Access is for, finding and fixing issues. Sorry your having trouble though,
please go to the support page for the game and make an issue if you want
help, our guys are checking support regularly.

MOTD or what we call Server Welcome Page, is on our list of goals, and

Awesome, glad to hear! While I might be having difficulty getting in
myself, I'm sure you'll have it sorted soon. What was more important to me
was getting some servers up. Luckily I've managed to somehow get in on my
laptop.

I do have one question though. If you put arguments in the command line on

way around?

The reason I ask is I've set game difficulty using URI argument, however
only naturally this change isn't reflected in the web panel and by all
accounts the game says the difficulty is normal.

I mean I can change in the web panel for now, but doesn't that make the
GameDifficulty URI redundant?

[hlds] Killing Floor 2 fail to launch - SOLUTION

2015-04-21 Thread markg
The game apparently needs direct x to work, but it isn't working with the
latest version of direct x on my win 2008r2 server.

it will work with an older version like 9. Here is a link to a package
that will install all the older versions:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

that will fix it.

Did you try running the redist file packaged with the server (I think
 it's
called UE3Redist)? That installs some prerequisites (direct x, proper
 .NET
version, etc). I can't remember the exact location, away from my
 computer at
the moment, but if you search the servers folders for that file you
 should
find it. Run that, and I think it will solve your problems.

 Thanks,

 I've tried running the UE3Redist on a Windows 2008R2 server, and I'm

I'm assuming since so many people have servers up that there's a fix for

Makes sense due to it being a xen vps without any video card. (but it

Did you try running the redist file packaged with the server (I think

Well I have a friend who has added my servers to his favourites. He said
something about a little star next to the name. However since I haven't
been able to get into game yet I can't confirm.

I'm having a driver related crash, specifically nvwgf2umx.dll. I've updated
my graphics drivers and made sure to install the redist from the server
just in case Steam didn't do its job.

I'm hoping this
http://steamcommunity.com/app/232090/discussions/0/618459405727747253/
may provide a fix, but if not I'm out of luck.

If any of you guys at Tripwire read this, there's a number of people
crashing and I doubt many would check the event viewer to check out why.

As for my system specs, I'm running quite an outdated machine. Yet should
be fine to at least run KF2 at minimum.

Basic specs:

i7 920
GTX 275
6GB ram

Out of interest is there an MOTD feature in game or in the works? Also how
are you guys at Tripwire going to approach modding? Will plugins be
possible and if so what languages will they be coded in?

I am getting reports from my users of this error in TF2, and have also

In my case, I am not sure if it's just some local issue with my Internet or
not. However, I seem to be able to play other games fine - even those
hosted on the same server (CS:S, FoF, etc. on the SAME host as the TF2

Any other server operators seeing this lately?

No launch, no error, no nothing. They are both 64 bit operating system

I put a ‘pause’ line into the bat file in case there was an error message,
nothing. But even on the system that works, that initial window closes
without doing anything, then a new window opens with the server running.
That new window isn’t getting launched in my vds.

And this happens whether I use the default launch bat file, or use a
 command line to launch.

I had thought maybe they left some video dependency in the prior beta
code, but cant believe that would be the case for the early access version,
 so im at a loss.

Any ideas? Im not new to this server thing, this is the first time I have
had to ask for this type of help to get something up, but im stumped.

Is there some dependency I missed?
