[Mac-Access]: Multiple Subscriptions
Hello everybody Several people have been complaining about unsubscription requests not being honoured by our servers. Please believe me when I say that we take these issues very very seriously. We have absolutely no wish whatever to spam anybody’s inbox, I can utterly assure you of that fact. In light of this, I have just mace a very large amendment to our authentication database. How it happened, I don’t rightly know. But I can only presume that my earlier suspicion that VoiceOver was to blame. Maybe I added you all three times when I thought VoiceOver was not populating the appropriate boxes in the database module front end. However, as I say, I have now taken action to hopefully rectify this issue. The two addresses whose owners I know have requested removal, have been removed. Those addresses which existed multiple times have been reduced to a single entry. I hope that this change will fix the problem. Those who are about to be unsubscribed will obviously receive this message, but it should be the last one they receive from the list unless they opt to rejoin. Again, our apologies for the inconvenience. Hopefully, this issue should now be resolved. But feel free to contact us privately if not. I am also working to try to reactivate the support address. My compliments and kindest regards Gordon Smith: gor...@mac-access.net mailto:gor...@mac-access.net Accessibility Information Technology Support Specialist.

Huge sigh... Don't remove me for now. We'll see how things go, but I do expect going forward for things to hopefully run more smoothely. Thank you for finally looking into this. It's a shame that so many people had to get on you about this, before anything was done, but as long as you're at this point willing to step up and really truely try getting things back together, I'm willing to give things one, and one? only! final chance. I'm sorry for being so hard on ya, but as a system server administrator myself, you can hopefully to some degree understand why I was so. In your defense, Voiceover not reading those edit boxes could certainly be an issue, and if indeed it can add people multiple times, therefore sending out multiple e-mail copies, then boy oh boy! That's a bug that really! needs to be addressed, like, yesterday! As I said, I'll stay for now, but I genuinely trust this isn't going to hopefully happen again in the foreseeable future. Therefore, I thought that they hadnât actually been added, so I added them again. This happened twice before the boxesâ contents were displayed to me, and I thought that the job was done. However, unbeknown to me, the addresses were added three times over. This is why youâve had difficulty and in some cases have received multiple copies of the messages. Please accept my most sincere apologies for the inconvenience. I am modifying the list as I speak, so that each member is only subscribed once. Those who have written to me threatening reprisals, (and there have been 3 of those), please know that I am removing you as you requested. I acknowledge though that this shouldnât have happened. Re: [Mac-Access]: gmail
Here's why you get those messages from google. The package that's accessing gmail hasn't got the most modern security features in it. To fix this, you'll need to go into account settings and check the box that says allow less secure software to access your gmail account. Supposedly easier for hackers to get in once you do this, but even the most modern security features were no protection for the Federal employees and retirees that had their accounts hacked over at OPM. Re: [Mac-Access]: Ladies Gentlemen, We Are Back!
Hello Juanita, You’re probably getting three messages on your Mac, too. Try deleting a message and then pressing Cmd-z to restore it. You’ll probably hear that three messages have been restored. Mail just shows one copy as they’re all coming to the same address and are all sent out at the same time. Re: [Mac-Access]: Is anyone still around this list?
Gordon finally came back, but he basically just did his usual, it's not my problem, here's how to unsubscribe, don't lookat me though if you want off the list dance. I'd say the list is probably actually about the same membership, considerring most people were unsuccessful at getting removed. Even the instructions Gordon gave the other day didn't seem to work for me. I'd seriously considerred leaving, which then I changed my mind, however, that being said, like many, I tried to send an unsubscribe request to the address Gordon provided about a day ago, and even it! bounced. Anyway, frankly, if it's not mac related, then I'm done with the unsubscribe me bullshit. Gordon and Lynn aren't gonna listen, so there's really not much point in me continuing to try to convince them. It's unfortunate, but what the heck am I gonna do! I can't stick a gun to their heads and say run this list more smoothely. RE: [Mac-Access]: Re: Stop The Tests, Please
I agree with you Chris. Regardless of your personal situation Lynn - for which we are all sorry - the best and proper thing to do is close down the server until you are all in a position to run things efficiently again in the future. This is not fair to those of us who no longer want to receive mail, and who can't seem to unsubscribe or remove themselves from your clan. It is clear you have major issues, but please don't inflict them on anyone who wants out! I'm sorry for Gordon's situation, and I very genuinely hope he's OK, but this has been going on before Friday. Actually since last Tuesday or so. Have you not been seeing all the people who want to leave? I'm not asking you to remove me nor them, as you got too much on your plate for that now, but mercy gracious! is it that much work to just tell us how to do it ourselves since it's obviously changed? It's not even at the bottom of the footers. Lynne, I have lots of respect for you and Gordon, and I've taken my concerns off list with you all before, but now I'm going public, as frankly, this is becoming ridiculous! You're gonna hate me for saying this, and embarrassing you on list, but frankly at this point, much as I hate doing this, and this isn't my normal nature of personality, I must be blunt to say, if you can't manage a list, and keep people in the loop, then don't! Bottom line! I'm sorry to be so blunt, but I'm getting absolutely sick of this! I don't hate you, nor Gordon, don't even? go there! but, come on, who're you kidding. You work all day, Gordon is in the hospital, plus, there are other things you told me about off list confidentially that I won't go into on list, but lookit. The point is, I know this list is you all's baby. Especially Gordon's, but really. Do you all have the time to keep running this list on your own? I've said time after time again I'd help you all with admin tasks if you needed me to. Others too have agreed to help take some the load off you all, and frankly, the offer still stands as far as I'm concerned, but look. Family comes before e-mail lists. You gotta set your priorities. I know you don't like to hear this, but you honestly need to! Again, I'm not dismissing that Gordon is hurt, and again, for that, I'm so so sorry. I wish there was something on that front I physically could do, so don't think I'm putting that concern aside. I'm not. But there is no shame in cutting back, asking for help, or saying you know, this just isn't working. Lynn whether I'm right or not. Whether I'm out of line sending this or not, put that aside just for one second. Let's look at the facts. This last few weeks, how many have written the list, uptight in your word or not, leaving out opinions here from you, Gordon, or others for that mind, just on a technical level, how many have asked to leave the list. Damn! I can think of at least! minimum! 50 or 60. Compared to all the members you all have, that might seem insignificant, but trust me, that's a ton! for one and a half weeks nearly. I know one thing, if the list I ran started having members doing that, I'd be slamming on the breaks so hard, you'd not know what hitcha! I'd be deathly! concerned to find out what in the sam hill! was causing everyone to leave. Then, if I couldn't deal with it, dammit, I'd find someone who could. Just know, you all don't have to do this alone. I'm still offerring for you all to get ahold of me off list, if you want me to help you all in any way with the list until things get back to normal around there, but A, you gotta be willing to speak up, as I can't read your mind. And B, being I've offered before, this is my final offerring. Past this point, if turned down, I won't be offerring again. Case closed. You knwo where to find me. clgillan...@gmail.com Again, none of this is meant in any! bad malice, but really Lynn, seriously! Think about it. OK, I mean really? really, think about it! Re: [Mac-Access]: Skype and VO Activity With Conference Calling/skypeout.
I normally don't respond to thanks as it is against IRC rules and I'm old. Anyway, before you thank me for good try the phone number as I'm not sure if that will in fact work. Re: [Mac-Access]: Ladies Gentlemen, We Are Back!
That would be awesome, if that method worked, but over here at least, it doesn't seem to be. I wasn't going to leave, but I wanted to at least see if I got the confirmation message, which then I was simply going to ignore. That message never came. RE: [Mac-Access]: Re: Stop The Tests, Please
I agree also that unfortunately this list needs to be closed until it can be properly managed. The chaos of the events over the last week are unprecedented in my experience. Clearly Gordon is not in a position to respond to list problems so a temporary closure seems most fair to the large numbers who are experiencing problems and complaining about their inability to unsubscribe. When domestic circumstances permit I suggest a one off email shot inviting a renewal of subscription with clear valid unsubscribe information appended would be the best way forward. [Mac-Access]: Burning a CD on iMac
Hello, I am running the latest Mac OS 10.10.3 on my iMac. I need to burn several copies of a CD containing some radio programs. SO I first completely erased the contents of a re-writable CD (or maybe it was a DVD). I then copied the required MP3 files into a folder and went to the context menu for that folder. I chose the burn option and the MP3 files were written to the CD. this CD played correctly in the CD player on my music centre and it also played correctly in the CD player of one of my contacts but did not play in the CD players of my other contacts. This may be because the re-writable CD was in fact a re-writable DVD which then plays in some CD players but does not play in other CD players. Is there any way I can tell whether the re-writable optical disk is a CD or a DVD? If it is a DVD can I somehow reformat it so that it becomes a CD? If it is a CD how can I burn it so that it plays in all CD players, some of which are several years old? Many thanks for any tips. Paul Hopewell

Hmm I use sharp keys but yeah this started happening a few months ago and even a reinstall of vmware does not help, which leades me to believe that some how this is a driver issue. Open a TextEdit document and paste in the following without the quotes: { ^y = yankAndSelect:; //control-y ^\@ = setMark:; //control-@ ^w = deleteToMark:; //control-w ^x = { //control-x control-x ^x = selectToMark:; }; ^ = setMark:; //control-space ~f = moveWordForward:; //option-f ~b = moveWordBackward:; //option-b } Save the document as: DefaultKeyBinding.dict You’ll need to change the extension to .dict manually. Go to your user library by going to the Go menu in Finder and using the VO keys to navigate down to Library. Create a folder Called KeyBindings and put the .dict document into it. From now on, you should be able to select text in any text editing application by pressing Ctrl-Space to mark the beginning of the selection, and Ctrl-x-x to mark the end of the selection. Everything in between will be selected, including page breaks. Cheers, Anne

I did not receive a reply to my email so s will try again. the repeating keys are the arrow keys and happens when reading tex a line at a time. No reason - not holding down the key, etc. only doing a tap at a time. This is my second keyboard and although it is not as bad it is still happening. - Original Message - From: John Panarese jpanar...@mac-access.net To: OS X iOS Accessibility mac-access@mac-access.net Sent: Thursday, April 23, 2015 10:17 AM Subject: Re: [Mac-access]: Mac accessibility What do you mean by repeating?
