Hi, I'm not sure if you saw on the list a while back, but Mac tubes as well as
you view, second-generation Apple TV units, various video game consoles, smart
TVs, and other set-top boxes of been rendered useless via an eight DI change.
And list the developer released an update to make tubes that I'm not aware of
that may have fixed the issues, yet potentially provide another one, that app
as well as other third-party ones no longer work. Unfortunately, at this time
from what I can see, there's no third-party app for YouTube that is functioning.

Re: Is MacTubes broken?

2015-05-07 Thread Alex Hall
I'd forgotten about that. Well, the good news is that the developers might just
have to make some under-the-hood changes to get everything working again. Keep
checking for updates, I suppose. Here's hoping this gets fixed soon--I rely
heavily on YouView, and really don't like the website much at all. Sure it's
usable, but nothing beats arrowing through your results, and leaving several
windows open, each for its own author.

Re: Is MacTubes broken?

Hi. YouTube made some changes to their API, which broke support for several
apps, game consuls, and set-top boxes. Unfortunately, it seems like you've you,
mac tubes, etc. may have been casualties of this API change.

Re: Mactubes with Lion

The first thing I did was label the unlabelled buttons.
Press shift Vo H on each button to hear the help tag for each button,
most will have one, then Copy what is said to the clipboard with shift
VO C and then bring up the Voiceover Labeller by pressing VO / and then
pasting in the contents of the help tag.
You can label the vast majority of buttons with this method. This may
help you get started.

You also need to go to the menu bar and select quicktime as your output
codec.

Here's the trick to finding it. For one thing, the add MUST, absolutely must
be over three seconds long or it won't even present. Now, if you start from

long, you will find it.

need some help with mactubes: how to dowload videos and to search for author?

2014-10-08 Thread Anouk Radix
Hi,
I am probbably doing something wrong here. I got mactubes and got it all setup,
i can search for a certain video and find results but then i am stuck.
If I interact on the list of results and stand on the video I want then vo
shift+m does not do anything (I was assuming that this would bring up the
context menu so I could actually start downloading it.
I have not been able to find a shortcut hotkey to accomplish this.
Can anyone tell me how this works?
Apparently you are also able to search for videos by the seem author or enter
urls to download from. Can anyone tell me how this is done?
Thanks in advance

Re: need some help with mactubes: how to dowload videos and to search for author?

2014-10-08 Thread Shawn Krasniuk
Hi Anouk. In order to download the video, it has to be playing. So when you
select the video you want to play, stop interacting with the list of videos and
find the play button which is unlabelled So you'll have to use VO+Shift+H for
the help tag of those buttons. Once it's playing, you should see a pop up
button. VO+Shift+Space doesn't activate it, but VO+Shift+M does. Download is
one of the options in that menu. HTH.

Re: Mactubes not working after clean install

2014-02-13 Thread Alex Hall
The is a way to download videos. However, you can consider it a pro feature, as
you must donate to the project before it will let you save. I haven't done this
yet, as I almost never need to save videos, but it can be done if you are
willing to give the developer a bit of money. This app is so well done that I
might just do that even if I don't use the save feature.

Re: Mactubes not working after clean install

2014-02-11 Thread BBS
Hey Alex and others. After investigating the app, I found that there was no way
to download a video unless that save option does it but I somehow doubt it. So
I think I'll still use Mactubes unless someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

BTW, it is the second video player I’m using.. When I press spacebar on a
video to play, VO is focussed over that html area, if I’m fast enough to
interact with it, the player tool pallet is usually there. If not, then just
VO-arrow past the html area, then back again. Lol, it is kind of weird how
it works, but interact with the html area again, and the player tool pallet
 should be there.

Player menu button which you can't click on, but Have to bring up its context
menu where you make selections for downloading etc.
a graphic progress indicator which does nothing
 the volume slider
3 buttons for prior video, play/pause video, and next video.
a video format menu button where you can select MP4, FLV etc
 the enter full screen button
 finally the close player button

Once voice over says Interact with video playback toolbar item palette, I go
to the far right of the window function-VO-right-arrow for my MBA, then
VO-space on full screen. I visualize this controller panel as a horizontal
line along the bottom. On the left you have volume low, then a slider for
volume, then volume high. Next a checkbox for play, exit full screen.
Finally on the right side is the total timeline, a slider to move the video
forwards or backwards, then the time remaining.

This works the best for me. I’m visually impaired so I like the videos in
full screen. Keep in mind, for some reason the shortcut command-F will put
the video in full screen, but the controls won’t show up.

Re: Mactubes player controls

2014-01-06 Thread Phil Halton
Hi Tracy, yes, I found the toolbar in the HTML area and figured out from there.
It works okay, but if I really want to work through a video, I download it and
use QuickTime and it's rewind and fast-forward features. They're much better.

Up/down control volume, and some combination of option and command with the
left/right keys is supposed to control the play direction. Playing it backward,
then, is sort of a real-time rewind, but that is the best you can get from this
app.

MacTubes not letting me download videos from YouTube

2013-11-10 Thread Helena Fehr
Hi, all!
I'm having a problem with MAcTubes. firstly, both the Quicktime and the Video
player won't work to play videos. The Flash Player works, but when I close the
video page, it gives me this weird dialog about this file is not allowed by
embedded playing, and to open the URL browser thing, and when I click on that,
it says it can't open it though. The second thing is that when I try to
download a video from YouTube using MacTubes on my Mac, I get this dialog that
just says the download cannot be started or something. What can I do about
these dialogs so that they'll go away?

God Bless!!!
Helena

May The Lord Bless you and keep you; May his face radiate with joy because of
you' May He be gracious to you, show you His favour, and give you His peace.

Re: MacTubes not letting me download videos from YouTube

IF you try to download a video which is not HD as an HD download, you will get
that dialog. Just be aware of that.

 Hi, all!
I'm having a problem with MAcTubes. firstly, both the Quicktime and the
Video player won't work to play videos. The Flash Player works, but when I
close the video page, it gives me this weird dialog about this file is not
allowed by embedded playing, and to open the URL browser thing, and when I
click on that, it says it can't open it though. The second thing is that
when I try to download a video from YouTube using MacTubes on my Mac, I get
this dialog that just says the download cannot be started or something. What
can I do about these dialogs so that they'll go away?

anyone else getting silent videos in Mactubes app?

2013-10-16 Thread Alex Hall
Hi all,
A week or so ago, people were getting silent videos in Safari but Mactubes
worked. I had no such problems, but a few days ago the opposite started
happening. Youtube in Safari works fine, but Mactubes is now silent. I have the
latest version (3.1.6 as of this writing), and I can't think of anything that
might have caused this to start happening. Is it just me? Any ideas on what I
could do to fix it? Thanks in advance.

Another option is youtube-mp3.org, it will allow you to make an mp3 file of a

search by keywords or authors, and a lot more, and is fully accessible. You
might need to listen for help tags and label some buttons based on them, but
once you do that the app is just fine. Note that it does not have an
automatic download option, so if it ever stops playing videos, see if there

Play/pause is just space, and command-up or command-down will control the
volume, as will command-dash and command-equals, but in smaller increments.
There are buttons for next/previous video, but I don't know if there are
shortcuts for them.

Be sure using the last version of MacTubes. It happens from time to time as you

Does anyone know of a way I can check the download status of individual items?

downloading videos using mactubes.

2013-02-10 Thread Jessica Moss
Ok, I've figured out how to open videos in mactubes, but now how are you
supposed to download them? I found a youtube video on how to do this, and it
showed the guy doing this from within the app itself, but this of course, was
all visual, so I had no idea what he was doing.
I've tried the command to download files, which does nothing, and I know
these should be downloadable, sense I was able to convert 1 of them to mp3
format through the site, and youtube-mp3.org, so have no idea what I'm doing
wrong. Any help someone could give me at this point would really be
appreciated.

Hi Jessica,
to download a file do the following:
1. Press Spacebar on a the wanted title in the table. A new window should open
and you should hear the video.
2. Press once VO + arrow down.
3. There you can press VO + Shift + M to open the context menue.
4. Choose download there and choose mp4.
Now a download window opens but you can close it and the video window as well.
The download should work then.

I just downloaded mactubes last night, but when I performed a search, for some

2012-12-22 Thread Shawn Krasniuk
Hi guys. I've been trying to watch videos with Mactubes and I get an error
message saying an error has occurred with the player. When I try downloading

2012-12-22 Thread Cheryl Homiak
I don't think it's a problem with MacTubes itself; it is still working fine
here. But unfortunately I can't think wat the problem might be. I suppose you
could try uninstalling and reinstalling it but I tend to think it's something
else on your system.

Hi,

another way to download is to route your mouse cursor to the results table and
press CTRL + click on your trackpad without having Trackpad Commander on. Then
you also have the context menue where you can choose download.
Just in case you don't want to start the video first.

Re: Mactubes

2012-11-27 Thread Jane
It definitely *is* possible to download videos from MacTubes. It takes
fiddling, but it *is* doable.

You have to put in the URL for the video and start it playing, Then you have to
find the first unlabeled button to the right of the playing video then hit
control-option-shift-m and arrow down till you hear download submenu then hit
right-arrow and arrow down to the video format you want. I tend to use MP4.

Then watch the slider to the right until it says 100% and the video will be
ownloaded.

Re: Mactubes

2012-11-27 Thread Cheryl Homiak
No, it really doesn't have to be that complicated.

First of all, read the help tags for your buttons and label them.
Secondly, there is no need to put the url in unless you don't want to do a
search. Just search and start playing. when you find the one you want to
download, do vo-shift-m on the player menu button (I don't remember whether or
not I had to label it but you can find out what it is using the help tags. In
the menu will be a download option with options for your download format.

Hth.

Mactubes

2012-10-21 Thread Stacey Robinson
Where do you get the mactubes app?
Is it free?

If you have Twitter, YoruFukurou is a must, and it's free. Mactubes is a
great app that lets you browser Youtube and even download mp4 movie files of
videos you watch (I save guitar how-tos this way). Hmm... I use reminders
and calendar all the time, but those are built in... Oh, there's the RS
Games client, which lets you play Uno, Battleship, 1000 Miles, and a couple
other games against the computer or other players online. I think the site
for that is rsgames.net but I'm not sure, so google might be your best bet
to find it. Of course Dropbox is important to me, especially now that I can
access the menu for it in Mountain Lion. That's all I can think of for the
moment, aside from the other built-in apps I use (Safari, Mail, Contacts,
 and so on).
