Both beige palomino (MB-Tex/Leather/Velour) upholstery was available on the later W123's. Highly unlikely that you have leather or velour, so look for code 154 (palomino Tex) or 155 (beige Tex) on the radiator cross member build plate. I should be able to find some here. Got a question about the Mercedes floor mats on Ebay. I've heard my wife (who passed away) call the inside and outside of the '83 240D biege color. The Ebay mats below are palomino. Looked palomino up on the 'net and it seems the color can vary between light brown and golden or darker. The color of the mats shown on Ebay look pretty close to the color of the 240D. In your opinion, and/or anyone elses, is the color shown what Mercedes generally refers to as palomino. Hmm No questions or answers have been posted about this item. I found this cool truck the other day on CL! 1983 Mercedes L1116 dump truck (141.7 wb) Turbo OM352-A (145hp/295lb-ft) http://asheville.craigslist.org/hvo/4100878804.html Don't see many short wheel base MB trunks, most I've seen for sale have huge cargo boxers or flatbeds. The short nose MB trucks are really unique looking, too bad they stopped selling them in the late '80s? here in the US. It would definitely be cool if they re-issued them with modern equipment! I guess in the '90s D-B decided to focus on their other brand acquisitions (Freightliner ect.). Supposedly the US market trucks were assembled here in the US (like the Sprinter), anyone know by whom or where? They were quite popular in other parts of the world. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1987-Mercedes-Benz-Diesel-Truck-Ad-wl714-J4KZZM-/290874424001 -- Chris J. Well, there are good dealers bad dealers (and good bad service/parts departments). Re-reading Kaleb's post, a chat with the adviser regarding previous service history, prior to handing over the keys may have prevented the up-selling improved his experience. Everyone knows those Airmatic shocks are $$$ (just by themselves) to have replaced at the dealer, no surprise there. If you can afford it, I don't see why a new Mercedes diesel should not be considered enjoyed. The cars now going on 20-30 years are certainly not issue or trouble free with far more expensive bits that are needing to be replaced then a new car off the lot would have! :-) On 9/15/2013 10:20 PM, mercedes-requ...@okiebenz.com wrote: From: Hendrik and Fay heni...@gmail.com Date: 9/15/2013 8:48 PM I think Kaleb provided a very good reason earlier when he informed us as to the level of service received at the local dealer. Re: [MBZ] Fan clutch
I wondered why they didn't put electric clutches on the larger engined cars. They are pretty neat perhaps offer better control of engine temps with a defined on-off signal from the temp switch. Looked at a W116 300SD for sale once. The owner said he had bolted the fan to the clutch?, so it turned all the time. Not sure that's such an ideal fix though. Hopefully a new clutch will help. Just looked at new OE MSRP for your 617, whoa! On 7/13/2013 7:49 AM, MG wrote: All I could see for the 190s is the all electric fan, no clutch there at all. Have been having slightly higher then normal temps in the summer ever since I did a cooling system flush and installed a new thermostat (up to 100 at first and 110 now in Fl with AC at high speeds or around town with heavy traffic). My thought actually was to try a new thermostat since that is the most likely suspect (not opening far enough?). It was brand new from Rusty so I put less of an emphases on that and thought more of the fan clutch especially since it has been getting worse in the past year or more. Wish I hadn't thrown away the old thermo so I could put it in now. Then again it could have been some crud that got into the radiator from the engine during the flush. The whole idea with the electric clutch is just that it's a neat-o cool thing to have on an engine ( well in my confused mind anyway, no accounting for tastes is there). That said I do have a new thermo and clutch on the way but still am in want with the electric clutch thing. :-) Manfred -- Chris J. I thought the 2.5 transmission was first gear start? Even if the solenoid is not getting power, it would not completely disable first. Yes, in 2 you should be getting a shift around 30mph from 1st into 2nd. It is possible you may be having turbo boost issues, unfortunately I'm not familiar enough with the 2.5's setup to be any help. Huh? I think there are enough carry over exterior design elements on the W220 (especially before the redesign), that it is still recognizable as a Mercedes. Re: [MBZ] For Those W116 Lovers Out There...(now velour interiors)
From looking at brochures online, it looks like velour was available from the '70s ( starting with the W116, W123 C107) to at least the '90MY here in the US (in no less then 8 colors!) on all models except for the SL Roadster. N/C on some models, the option cost around $1K+- for all others. No different then ordering heated seats really, as in it was listed in the price/equipment or paint/upholstery brochures there was no extra charge over what the option cost. Unlike the SPC program Mercedes currently has for special options/trim (which they hide in the ordering guides, not sure why?), that entails a total additional $250 charge for the option(s) ordered. I think I would choose velor over the Tex or leather myself (in the periods where it was offered). Came across a dark gray 300E for sale online once that had a black velor interior, looked really nice! On 6/23/2013 8:07 PM, Dan Penoff wrote: My 250 LWB had velour that was ordered with the car. Re: [MBZ] Response from Trent -- Worldpac problems?
Not always. It may state Original Equipment Manufacturer show a picture of the MB part on a Worldpac parts site BUT.Bosch does not always = the Bosch part spec'd for your MB. For instance, I can get aftermarket Bosch wiper blades at the local auto parts store...if I'm ordering online I want the original MB part. There IS a difference between the two! The MB spec'd blade of course being of better quality, has better fitment look. Unless your parts suppler is ordering direct from Mercedes, there is a chance you won't be getting what your expecting at times. I ended up having to order another blade washer nozzle from MB to finally get the right ones for the early W201 I had. Of course many OEM parts in other situations are fine, belts, hoses, filters ect.with some MB dealers now offering online parts ordering with info sourced from the EPC, not sure I'd bother with Worldpac or anyone else when I have another MB that I need parts for On 6/11/2013 7:07 PM, Dan Penoff wrote: OEM implies that it's coming from MB, I would assume. Re: [MBZ] Opine away - Limited Edition 190E
No, that is a real Limited Edition! The seller does note that he wrapped the original trim due to cracking, it's very similar to the original though. I'm surprised you've never heard of them or seen one. 700 each were produced of the 190E 2.3 2.6 for the '93 MY. There was no charge for the additional equipment totaling around $3K, a steal really! The 2.3 came in monotone metallic emerald green w/ cream beige leather additional burl wood trim, the 2.6 in two tone black w/ black red leather sport seats carbon fiber trim. Easily recognizable by the 8 hole rims headlight wipers, which at the time were either not available (in the case if the rims) or rarely seen on the standard 190. Despite the handling upgrades sport seats/trim on the 2.6 Limited Edition it did not have Sportline exterior badging, also the standard model designation was omitted on the trunk lid of both models. The 2.6 did have a Sportline gearshift knob though. A look back at the 1993 Mercedes 190E 2.6 Limited Edition - a classic ahead of its time. http://www.examiner.com/article/a-look-back-at-the-1993-mercedes-190e-2-6-limited-edition-a-classic-ahead-of-its-time On 6/6/2013 7:54 AM, Mitch Haley wrote: Chris James wrote: 1993 Limited Edition 190E 2.6 (Very nice!): http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/3836344982.html Why no Sportline badges on the front fenders? The shift knob doesn't look leather, but I'm not familiar with auto tranny Sportlines, I always used to look for manuals. I don't think those wheels came from a W201.
