The political discussions on the list have gotten out of hand lately. We

violation will result in their posts being moderated. If it continues past
that point more drastic measure may be necessary. Thank you for your

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Speaking of which, it didnt take the southpark folks long to make a show
about all of it. I have to admit I do watch that from time to time, and
caught about half of the one last night which was about obamo getting
elected. It turns out the election was all a big scam, Oceans 11 style,
to just rob some diamond from the smithonian with mccain, palen, obamo,
etc all working together. Was quite funny.

I actually think it was *fairly* civil for the most part, with a few
exceptions. Though I certainly participated in some of the threads, I
think the ban is a good idea overall, people who come here looking for
MBZ discussion could easily get turned off by the large volumes of

OK, have been getting many complaints about the political talk on the
list. Effective immediately, we shall return back to the old way of NO
politics on the list. Period. End of subject. These sorts of
discussions are alive and well, and welcome on banned. If you want to
talk about how much you hate Obamo, go there. I will allow a little
time to get the word out for the subject to end, and if it doesnt very
quickly, the list will have to go on lockdown sad to say.

That's cool that you are there with the Presidential candidate and engaged
in this.
I did not say that he surrounds himself with all Black crowds at all times -
only that he does sometimes.

I believe that it is no more okay to have an all Black anything than it is
to have an all White anything. Do you agree?

I don't think that the President should attend anything that does not
welcome all races. No, you will not find it in writing anywhere that no
Whites are allowed at this church or on that basketball court, but we all
know those are the rules.

Yes. And every time I see BHO surround himself with an all-Black crowd, his
true feelings on race are born out in his actions. Or perhaps he is willing
to go against his true feelings in order to get votes. Either way he doesn't
get my vote. I'm waiting to see if he is going to assemble an all-Black
posse of henchmen like that nut Faraquhan does.

BHO is 1/8 black (African-African), 3/8 Arab (Arab-African, or maybe

but not sure exactly where they fall in the scheme of things), 1/2
Caucasian (European-American), but apparently the actual test is how you

I computed that I am 1/16 pre-European-invader-Indigenous person, but
apparently to qualify as the real deal I have to identify and associate
with other PEIIPs in a tribal sense or something. Someone told me a few
weeks ago I qualified for "Indian checks" (1/32 or better), whatever
those are, apparently an annual payment from the gummint of some sort to

You wrote about R Nader < never hear anything about him in the news >>

That's the way someone becomes irrelevant - if the news media fails to
mention someone he ceases to exist as far as the public is concerned.

He will have to do something *very* newsworthy to get any mention.
Maybe if he climbs a redwood naked and gives a speech about Global
warming and saving the whales.

Naaah - even that will not make the media give him any notice - the
mainstream
media wants a democrat in the whitehouse and for Nader to have a chance to
spoil
obamas and hilllarys chances the MSM will need to start including him in
their discussions
and other news making opportunities.

Isn't it interesting that we allow 3-4 TV networks to decide which
candidates are relevant? Like RudyGhoul was the annoited one and
Ron Paul was irrelevant, despite the fact that Rudy kept finishing

Re: [MBZ] ADMIN, Politics on the list

2008-04-05 Thread Wonko the Sane
That means that on caucus night, the Obama group selected me to represent
them at the county convention. When I got there, I supported Obama and
talked a couple of folks from the Edwards camp into coming into our group.
When it was done, there were X number of delegates (me being one) who would
go to District Convention on April 26th, each PLEDGED to a certain
candidate.

At the District Convention, we will again divide into preference groups and
elect delegates to the State Convention (I will not agree to that) will meet
in Des Moines. They will divide into preference groups, and a certain number
of delegates will be appointed to go to the national convention.

And those are the delegates that count.

In theory, each delegate should get the same percentage of delegates running
all the way from the county caucuses to the state convention. That is where
the word PLEDGE comes in -- I am pledged to Obama but have the latitude to
jump to another candidate at district convention. Same for folks going to
the state convention and the national convention.

In some ways, it gets down to the lesser of three weasels.

If Ron Paul was viable, I'd be supporting him. He isn't.

So ...

1. McCain, who I fear will continue our current policy of World Police
Force. Dumb idea.the Probably an academic career inferior to Dubya's. Was
graduated near the bottom of his class at the Naval Academy. Might have been
the anchor man.

2. Hillary. Good ideas, but somewhat lacks credibility with me. I could like
her were it not for the fact that folks who have been in her presence for
years have told me first-hand that she is a real witch. Perhaps that is what
we need in a female President.

3.Obama. To me, race plays no part in it. I don't think he is as liberal as
some on here fear. The real role of the President is as a cheerleader for
the nation -- Congress has the real power. Obama -- and I base this on only
meeting the man once -- seems to be sincere, seems to have integrity, and
seems to be the one to get this country back into speaking terms between the
two/three/four political parties. He isn't the second coming of Christ and I
am sure he passes gas like all of us. But, out of the available
alternatives, he is head and shoulders above the other two.

So ... I support Obama. I think he can go a long way into fixing this
cluster-frig that is currently our political infrastructure.

Re: [MBZ] ADMIN, Politics on the list

2008-04-05 Thread Mitch Haley
I won't guarantee my count is correct, but I get *148* Not Voting on that
link. Seems like a lot for somebody who took office three years ago.
For comparison purposes, someone I love to hate, Debbie Stalin'sCow
has been office for seven years, more than twice as long as Barfak.
You wanna know how many NVs she's racked up in her Senate career, which
is more than twice as long as his? Six!

This Osama dirtbag is not doing the job he's paid for, and millions of
people want to give him a promotion!

I think that Barak has been voting "present" to avoid looking like that
worthless one term Illinois Senator from the 1990s, Carol's Mossy Bum.
MossyBum had one of the worst attendance records in both houses of
Congress, and even the voters of Illinois figured out she wasn't
representing them and didn't reelect her. Unfortunately for Barak,
the link Larry posted lumps 'not voting', 'excused', 'absent' and 'present'
into one category. I'd like to see how many votes he was 'present' for,
which meant that he took time off the campaign trail to show up, but couldn't
be bothered to say 'aye' or 'nay'.

I got 225 not votings for McLame, but he's been in the Senate a bit longer
than Barak (that's 225 NVs from 1995 to present). I get 117 for Hillary, who
has been in office seven years, same as StabMeNow, who only had six. Maybe
running for president is more important than doing the job you're drawing
a paycheck for?
I'm not thrilled with the non-voting records of all three,
but if you have to pick an overall loser, the guy who racked up 148 in
three years has to take the prize.

Oh, I just did another one who has been in the senate since before 1995,
so he's had as much chance to rack up NVs as McLame has. John Forbes
Kerry has 69 NVs from 1995 to present, including a full length Presidential
campaign. Perhaps he cares more about his country than the three Senators
still in the race?

BTW, counting the NVs was a pain, and the figures above are not necessarily
precise. Hopefully the counts are accurate +/- two NVs, but who knows? I'm
not going to do a recount.

Mitch.

I agree with you but I think that it is just part of human nature. It
is human nature to identify with groups, and view with suspicion
anyone not in that group. This happens with race, class (poor
vs. rich), religion, language, geography, anything you can point to as
"different". It is as old as history. And politicians actively
exploit this flaw in our collective character to create "us against
them" reasons to engender support.

So rather than try to achieve a world where no prejudice exists, it's
probably more realistic to recognize it in ourselves and others when
it happens, and try to look past it.

Re: [MBZ] ADMIN, Politics on the list

2008-04-05 Thread Zoltan Finks
Unfortunately, I think that race and gender has very much to do with this
election. It should not, but it does.
You know, I don't believe any race is superior to any other. So I could get
beyond my initial, natural discomfort at the thought of having a Black
president (well, half black) IF I didn't KNOW that for many out there, it IS
about race. And at least in part, I place Barack himself in this group of
many. The first time I heard him give a speech that included language like
"it's about time" or "they said it couldn't happen" (these are loose quotes)
my fears were confirmed about Obama. And I know that for millions out there,
it's about electing a Black president too. These millions are not just the
Black voters, but all who think it's "about time".

In my mind, we should strive to be totally blind to race. This would define
the lack of racism. Every time we celebrate the first time a given race
accomplishes something, we stoke the fire of racism.

As for the gender issue in this election: See above - for it all applies.

A agree - what does skin color (or gender) have to do with this election?

Change for the sake of change is very dangerous but this is exactly what the
Obama supporters are pushing.

Its amazing how far left the guy really is. Its scary. He is for

change things so law abiding citizens can no longer carry concealed

2008-04-05 Thread Curt Raymond

Yale.

Funny my wife and I were talking about this just this morning. She said "I
can't believe somebody as dumb as him could get through Yale."
I replied with "Well he did have a 1.5GPA..."

Yep, our president was a D+ student. As I remember John Kerry was a C- or
something around it..

Just did a check and I was off, IMDB (what the hell?) says 2.35GPA which they
call a "gentlemanly C average".

I had a 3.18 but of course I didn't go to Yale.

And if I never saw the sleazy, corrupt, power-hungry Clintons again it

D, None Of the Above. Just because the Republicratic party gives me three
choices, doesn't mean I have to pick the Republicratic party.

I've already sounded off on Osama bin Hussein today. I'll add that he's
come right out and said in the past that he supports a total ban on
self defense weapons, aka handguns. Shrillary Cartoon has espoused
some rather Marxist viewpoints over the years, and McStain totally
gutted the First Amendment to the Constitution (McCain-Fiengold).
Of the three, only McLame has given concrete evidence that he cares for
this country (via military service). Eight years ago, I didn't think
I'd dislike any opponent enough to make me vote for the liberal Democratic
Senator from Hanoi/Arizona, but the liberal Democratic Senator from
Hawaii/Indonesia/Illinois might change my mind. If the liberal Democratic
Senator from Illinois/Arkansas/New York gets the nomination, I'm either voting
Libertarian or writing in Ron Paul, depending on who the Libertarians nominate.

And successful politicians are pretty good con men. Bill Clinton and probably
Osama have the additional advantage of genius IQ, and their "EQ" is off the
charts. I stand by my earlier statement that Osama's only two achievements are
getting all his opponents knocked off a ballot, and making pretty speech.

The one thing that totally disqualifies him is his penchant for avoiding
controversial votes in the senate by voting "present". "I'm here, but I'm
not going to DO anything" is not an option for the POTUS.

Dubya has made a concerted effort to evade constitutional limitations on

Re: [MBZ] ADMIN, Politics on the list

2008-04-04 Thread Wonko the Sane
I've been in this game for decades. I take it very seriously.

I am right. This guy is the real deal. I don't just trust Obama with the
balance of my lfe (maybe 20 years), I am trusting him with the futures of my
kids and step-daughter (ask Luther) and my so-far two grandchildren.

Talking face to face with Obama is not far removed from talking to Little
Tommy.Very calm and rational and intelligent.Except for the skin color, they
could be twins.

Very similar.

Unlike McCain and Hillary, I don't think Obama is in this for ego. I think
he really wants to fix things. My bet is on that philosophy.

Ever since I quit drinking coffee and switched to herbal tea, the price of
tea is very important to me.

But to answer your question, there is a big difference between watching a
commercial and looking into a man/(woman)'s eyes in real time. I am a pretty
good judge of character -- occupational hazard.

I think Obama is the real thing, and I am betting my grandchildren's future
on my judgment.
