[RecipesAndMore] Taco Bell Cinnamon Twists
Taco Bell Cinnamon Twists 1/2 cup Sugar 1 Tbsp. Cinnamon rotinni noodles (You must use a rice based noodle !!! ) 3 cup of oil (I recommend peanut oil) Combine cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl and mix well. Heat oil to about 500 degrees, be careful not to let the oil to smoke. When the oil is hot enough, drop a handful of uncooked noodles, drop only a few at a time. Deep fry for 30 seconds. You will know when they are done because they will sink to the bottom and then resurface. Place cooked noodles on some paper towels so they can drain. Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar mix over them. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Access the Recipes And More list archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/recipesandmore%40googlegroups.com/ Visit the group home page at: http://groups.google.com/group/RecipesAndMore -~--~~~~--~~--~--~---

[RecipesAndMore] Homemade, Food Processor Peanut Butter
Homemade, Food Processor Peanut Butter 2 cups shelled but unblanched raw peanuts 2 quarts boiling water 2 quarts peanut oil 4 teaspoons butter at room temperature 1/4 teaspoon salt Blanch the peanuts in the boiling water for 1 minute. Drain; then slip off the skins. Spread the peanuts out on several thicknesses of paper toweling and let dry 30 minutes. Heat the oil in a large heavy skillet over moderately high heat until the nuts dropped in to the oil will sizzle vigorously. Add the peanuts and stir fry 3 to 4 minutes just until a light golden tan. The nuts will continue to cook after they are out of the oil. With a slotted spoon transfer peanuts to several thicknesses of paper toweling and cool to room temperature. Place half the peanuts in a food processor fitted with the metal chopping blade and let the motor run for 1 minute non stop. Uncover the work bowl scrape down the sides of the bowl with a rubber spatula and also scrape nuts up from the bottom of the bowl. Recover and churn for 60 seconds longer. Again scrape up nuts from bottom of work bowl. They will by now be turning in to a thick paste. Recover and buzz 60 seconds longer. Add half of the butter and salt and churn 60 seconds longer. Scrape in to a jar and set aside. Grind the remaining peanuts in to peanut butter precisely the same way and add to the original batch. Do not refrigerate. The peanut butter will keep about 10 days. Perhaps half that time in hot muggy weather. Makes about 1 cup. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Access the Recipes And More list archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/recipesandmore%40googlegroups.com/ Visit the group home page at: http://groups.google.com/group/RecipesAndMore -~--~~~~--~~--~--~---

[RecipesAndMore] Blind can take wheel with new vehicle
Blind can take wheel with new vehicle Mark Riccobono, executive director of the National Federation of the Blind’s Jernigan Institute, drives the Virginia Tech Blind Driver Challenge vehicle through an obstacle course of traffic cones on a campus parking lot. In the passenger seat is Greg Jannaman, who led the student team within the mechanical engineering department during the past year, and is monitoring the software of the vehicle. Credit: Steven Mackay, Virginia Tech A student team in the Virginia Tech College of Engineering is providing the blind with an opportunity many never thought possible: The opportunity to drive. A retrofitted four-wheel dirt buggy developed by the Blind Driver Challenge team (http://www.me.vt.edu/blinddriver/) from Virginia Tech's Robotics and Mechanisms Laboratory uses laser range finders, an instant voice command interface and a host of other innovative, cutting-edge technology to guide blind drivers as they steer, brake, and accelerate. Although in the early testing stage, the National Federation of the Blind -- which spurred the project -- considers the vehicle a major breakthrough for independent living of the visually impaired. It was great! said Wes Majerus, of Baltimore, the first blind person to drive the buggy on a closed course at the Virginia Tech campus this summer. Majerus is an access technology specialist with the National Federation of the Blind's Jernigan Institute in Baltimore, a research and training institute dedicated to developing technologies and services to help the blind achieve independence. Majerus called his drive a liberating experience, adding that he drove before on Nebraska farm roads with his father as a guide in the passenger seat. Sitting inside the vehicle, a blind driver can turn the steering wheel, stop and accelerate by following data from a computing unit that uses sensory information from the laser range finder serving as the 'eyes' of the driver, in addition to a combination of voice commands and a vibrating vest as guides. A member of the Virginia Tech student team sat next to Majerus in the passenger seat to monitor the system's software operations. It's a great first step, Majerus added. As far as the differences between human instructions and those given by the voice in the Blind Driver Challenge car, the car's instructions are very precise. You use the technology to act on the environment -- the driving course -- in a very orderly manner. In some cases, the human passenger will be vague, turn left -- does that mean just a small turn to the left, or are we going for large amounts of turn? Also driving the vehicle was Mark Riccobono, also of Baltimore, the executive director of the Jernigan Institute, who also is blind. He called his test drive historic. This is sort of our going to the moon project, he said In 2004 Jernigan Institute challenged university research teams to develop a vehicle that would one day allow the blind to drive. Virginia Tech was the only university in the nation to accept the nonprofit's call two years later, said Dennis Hong, director of the Robotics and Mechanisms Laboratory, part of the Virginia Tech mechanical engineering department. The National Federation of the Blind provided a $3,000 grant to launch the project. I thought it would be a very rewarding project, helping the blind, said Hong, the current faculty adviser on the project. We are not only excited about the vehicle itself, but more than that, we are excited about the potential of the many spin-off technologies from this project that can be used for helping the blind in so many ways. The team will bring the Blind Driver Challenge vehicle to the National Federation of the Blind's Youth Slam summer camp event held July 26 through Aug. 1 in College Park, Md. There, the team hopes to have teenagers who would be obtaining their driver's licenses, but cannot because of their blindness, drive the buggy. Wesley Majerus, an access technology specialist with the National Federation of the Blind’s Jernigan Institute, finishes driving the Virginia Tech Blind Driver Challenge vehicle around a roped-off driving course on a campus parking lot. The experience, he said, was liberating. Youth participants also are expected to remote control drive miniature cars. Additionally, the car is expected to ride in a National Federation of the Blind-sponsored parade in Washington D.C. I most look forward to learning as much as I can from these bright young students, said Greg Jannaman, who led the Virginia Tech student team in his senior year and graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Blind students from across the nation apply to be selected to attend this summer camp. While we are there to provide an educational experience for them, I can only imagine the invaluable feedback and fresh new ideas that they will

[RecipesAndMore] THUNDERSTORM.
THUNDERSTORM. A little girl walked to and from school daily. Though the weather that morning was questionable and clouds were forming, she made her daily trek to the elementary school. As the afternoon progressed, the winds whipped up, along with lightning. The mother of the little girl felt concerned that her daughter would be frightened as she walked home from school and she feared the electrical storm might harm her child.. Full of concern, the mother quickly got into her car and drove along the route to her child's school. As she did, she saw her little girl walking along.. At each flash of lightning, the child would stop, look up, and smile. Another and another flash of lighting followed quickly and with each, the little girl would look at the streak of light and smile. When the mother's car drew up beside the child, she lowered the window and called to her 'What are you doing?' The child answered, 'I am trying to look pretty because God keeps taking my picture.' May God bless you today and everyday As you face the storms that come your way. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Access the Recipes And More list archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/recipesandmore%40googlegroups.com/ Visit the group home page at: http://groups.google.com/group/RecipesAndMore -~--~~~~--~~--~--~---

[RecipesAndMore] Summertime Bubbles
Summertime Bubbles 1/4 cup dishwashing liquid 1/2 cup water 1 t. sugar Place in a sealed container and store for a few days before using. A good bubble blower is a plastic spatula, also a plastic berry box. Dip the box into the mixture and wave. Lots of bubbles will come out. Plastic six pack rings form soda cans work well, too. Fasten pipe cleaner handles onto the sides of the plastic ring and dip in the bubble solution. Great bubbles: Use 2 cups of dishwashing liquid, 6 cups water and 3/4 cup light corn syrup. nice post - Original Message - From: steve doyle To: RecipesAndMore@googlegroups.com Sent: Tuesday, June 16, 2009 6:33 PM Subject: [RecipesAndMore] In The Right Hands In The Right Hands What do you do with all the junk? he asked, as he walked down the hill. What you see as junk, I see as possible treasure, I replied. You call all that treasure? he asked. Only when I see it as something else, something new. I've been working in my backyard the last few weeks. It's part of a keep myself busy plan. Since the economy is flat and speaking engagements few, I try to keep myself busy, doing things that need doing around the house. I am self-employed. Well, unemployed. No, self reliant, independent and, sometimes, bored. So, the yard and the shed need attention. Next week is clean-up week in my community, so we get to haul all the things we no longer need to the dumpsters outside the township building. There was, indeed, a hidden treasure in this pile of throwaways. It was during my digging phase that I found it. My wife decided she wanted to expand a section of the rock garden in the corner of the yard. While cleaning up, I found this tiny bottle. It's about two inches high and a half-inch thick. It looks like it had a cork in the top. I'm thinking perhaps a glass stopper, like one in a perfume bottle. Of course, my mind begins to play with all kinds of possibilities. I wondered who it belonged to, where it came from, was it a gift from a young man to his sweetheart? I showed it to my neighbor and challenged him with the idea. It's junk! Look, there's a piece broken on the top. I'd toss it out, he concluded. Not me. It's still useful. I know every time I see it, my mind will dance. I like seeing it as a gift. Not only the imagined one, from a guy to his girl, but the gift I was given just because I found it. It can still hold something. I'll find a small cork and add a little colored water to it. When I hold it, I will imagine the hand that tossed it aside. Junk? Just because it's slightly damaged doesn't mean it has lost it's purpose. Like me... I've been damaged, broken, chipped and, after all that, I still have a purpose. Many tines, God picked me up out of the trash pile, dusted me off and found something new I could. Perhaps this time, writing is the one thing I was meant to do all along. Maybe, just maybe, I needed to be broken and tossed aside in order to fulfill His plans for me. So, next time you pass by a lost soul, beaten down and damaged, tossed aside and seen as junk by others, remember, that is God's vessel. In the right hands, even a broken bottle is a treasure! A single candle can illuminate an entire room. A true friend lights up an entire lifetime. Thanks for the bright lights of your friendship. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Access the Recipes And More list archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/recipesandmore%40googlegroups.com/ Visit the group home page at: http://groups.google.com/group/RecipesAndMore -~--~~~~--~~--~--~---

[RecipesAndMore] Something to think about...
Something to think about. If lawyers are disbarred and clergymen defrocked, doesn't it follow that electricians can be delighted, musicians denoted, cowboys deranged, models deposed, and dry cleaners depressed? Laundry workers could decrease, eventually becoming depressed and depleted! Even more, bedmakers will be debunked, baseball players will be debased, bulldozer operators will be degraded, organ donors will be delivered, software engineers will be detested, the BVD company will be debriefed, and even musical composers will eventually decompose. [RecipesAndMore] A poem to ponder
A Poem To Ponder. I was shocked, confused, bewildered As I entered Heaven's door, Not by the beauty of it all, Nor the lights or its decor. But it was the folks in Heaven Who made me sputter and gasp-- The thieves, the liars, the sinners, The alcoholics and the trash. There stood the kid from seventh grade Who swiped my lunch money twice. Next to him was my old neighbor Who never said anything nice. Herb, who I always thought Was rotting away in hell, Was sitting pretty on cloud nine, Looking incredibly well. I nudged Jesus , 'What's the deal? I would love to hear Your take. How'd all these sinners get up here? God must've made a mistake. 'And why's everyone so quiet, So somber - give me a clue.' 'Hush, child,' He said, 'they're all in shock. No one thought they'd be seeing you.' JUDGE NOT. RememberJust going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in your garage makes you a car . Every saint has a PAST. Every sinner has a FUTURE --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Access the Recipes And More list archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/recipesandmore%40googlegroups.com/ Visit the group home page at: http://groups.google.com/group/RecipesAndMore -~--~~~~--~~--~--~---
[RecipesAndMore] Read return to me
Read return to me This is neat. God bless. Each and everyone one of us are going through tough times right now, but God is getting ready to bless you in a way that only He can. Keep the faith. My instructions were to pick four people that I wanted God to bless, and I picked you. Please pass this to at least (4) people you want to be blessed and a copy back to me.. This prayer is powerful, and prayer is one of the best gifts we receive. There is no cost but a lot of rewards. Let's continue to pray for one another. The prayer: Father, I ask You to bless my friends, relatives and those that I care deeply for, who are reading this right now. Show them a new revelation of your love and power. Holy Spirit, I ask You to minister to their spirit at this very moment. Where there is pain, give them your peace and mercy. Where there is self-doubt, release a renewed confidence through your grace. Where there is need, I ask you to fulfill their needs. Bless their homes, families, finances, their goings and their comings. In Jesus' precious name. Amen. (If the Lord lays upon Your heart to send this to more than four people, you are truly blessed). --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Access the Recipes And More list archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/recipesandmore%40googlegroups.com/ Visit the group home page at: http://groups.google.com/group/RecipesAndMore -~--~~~~--~~--~--~---

[RecipesAndMore] hints for microwave cooking
: HINTS FOR MICROWAVE COOKING No high altitude adjustments are necessary for the microwave. Occa- sionally you may need a little longer cooking time--a matter of seconds. To retard any microwave cooking, place 8 ounces of water in the back corner of the oven to absorb some of the microwaves. To convert regular recipes to microwave, cook one-fourth of the given time, and, if necessary, add time in increments of 30 seconds. Microwave a lemon, lime or orange for 30 seconds before squeezing to get more juice. Insert knife through nipple of fruit and squeeze. The best hint for your microwave is to have fun with it! Don't just boil water and thaw meat---experiment. Try and try again. It's such a timesaver that it is really worth the effort. It will be wonderful for you when you learn how, and you have to use it to learn! To soften raisins, pour a little water over them, heat uncovered for 3 minutes and then let stand for 2 minutes. To toast almonds or other nuts, spread 1 cup nuts on a plate and heat 10 to 12 minutes, stirring every minute or so. Let stand for a few minutes, then store in a covered glass jar. To clarify sugared honey, remove metal top from jar and heat 1 minute. Watch carefully, as the time will vary with the amount of honey. To serve fragrant hot towels with dinner, place rolled, dampened wash cloths, scented with a few drops of after-shave lotion, in the microwave. Heat for 1 to 2 minutes until steamy hot. Serve on table with ribs, chicken, etc. To dry fresh herbs, remove leaves from stem and spread on paper or cardboard. Cover with a paper towel and heat 2 to 3 minutes. If they are dry to the touch, remove from oven. If not, heat a few more seconds. Let stand 10 minutes, then store in a covered jar. To freshen stale potato chips, crackers, etc., heat 16 ounces for 30-45 seconds. VEGETABLES Microwave cooked vegetables may be the most rewarding experience you will discover in this new generation of cooking. Most fresh vegetables cook in their own moisture, or with very little water. The result is no loss of natural flavor, color, texture and nutrition. Nothing is thrown away. Both fresh and frozen vegetables cook perfectly. The frozen product should be thawed first for best results when being combined with other ingredients. A handy Vegetable Cooking Chart has been included for easy reference. : TIPS TO REMEMBER Large fresh vegetables, such as squash or broccoli, cook best when cut up. Pieces should be of equal size and spread evenly within the cooking dish. Potatoes and hard-skin squash require no cooking dish and are best prepared on a paper towel. They should be pricked to avoid bursting. Cut and peeled vegetables should be cooked covered. The moisture available will turn to steam and aid in even cooking. Salt, seasonings, and sauces should be added to vegetables at the end of cooking. Leftover vegetables may be reheated with minimum loss of color, flavor, and nutrition. : FRESH VEGETABLE COOKING CHART Most vegetables should be covered when cooked with plastic wrap. (Be careful when uncovering vegetables as steam burns.) : AMOUNT COOKING DISH METHOD TIME ON HIGH Artichokes4 quart 1/4 cup water 10-11 minutes 2 medium Asparagus2 quart 1/2 cup water 7-9 minutes 1 pound stir once Green Beans2 quart 1/3 cup water 11-13 minutes 1 pound stir once Lima Beans1 quart 1/2 cup water 9-11 minutes 1 pound stir once Beets 2 quart barely cover 17-19 minutes 1 pound with water Broccoli2 quart 1/2 cup water 9-11 minutes 1 1/2 pounds Brussel Sprouts2 quart 1/4 cup water 9-11 minutes 1 pound stir once Cabbage 3 quart 1/4 cup water 14-16 minutes small head quarteredstir once Carrots 2 quart 1/2 cup water 10-12 minutes 1 pound slicedstir once Cauliflower2 quart 1/4 cup water 9-11 minutes 1 medium head turn dish once Corn 1 quart 1/4 cup water 5-6 minutes cut from cob, 1 1/2 cups Corn 2 quart 1/4 cup water 9-11 minutes 4 ears Eggplant3 quart 1/4 cup water 6-8 minutes 1 medium or 4 cups cubed onions 2 quart 1/2 cup water 9-11 minutes 4 large quartered Parsnips2 quart 1/4 cup water 8-10 minutes 1 pound stir once Green Peas1 quart 2 tablespoons 7-9 minutes 2 cups shelledwater, stir once Baked Potatoespaper towel 1 medium 5-6 minutes 2 medium 7-9 minutes 3 medium 10-12 minutes 4 medium 14-16 minutes Boiled Potatoes2 quart 1 cup water 17-19 minutes 6 medium, quartered or sliced stir once Spinach 2 quart 2 tablespoons 3-5 minutes 2 bunches water, stir once Squash paper towel prick with dork 6-8 minutes 1 pound AMOUNT COOKING DISH METHOD TIME ON HIGH Sweet Potatoes1 1/2 quart 1/4 cup water 8-10 minutes 4 medium peeled, cut in halfstir once Sweet Potatoespaper towel 1 medium 5-6 minutes 2 medium 7-9 minutes 3 medium 10-12 minutes 4 medium

On 6/4/09, Delma dbl...@centurytel.net wrote: How to Cook a Rattlesnake : The meat will taste much like other dishes, depending on the way it is fixed, seasoned, and cooked. Prepared like fish with corn meal, it will remind you of fish. Prepared like chicken, with a flour dip, it will taste strikingly like chicken. It can be smoked, broiled, boned for gumbo, made into paté or prepared any other way the cook prefers. The simplest is sometimes the best. Many people prefer this old fried chicken recipe: Ingredients: 1 rattlesnake Baking soda Flour Salt and pepper to taste Vegetable oil Method: Skin, gut, clean, and cut snake into serving sizes desired, maybe three inches long. Dip all in baking-soda-saturated water. Remove excess soda-water mixture. Roll pieces and coat in flour, salt, and pepper. Season with anything else, as desired. Fill a skillet with vegetable oil to about one inch. Heat from medium to medium high. Carefully place pieces in the skillet, being careful to allow space between pieces. Fry until tender throughout (or floating if in deep oil). Don't worry about venom; it is contained in the jaw of the snake and was removed with the head. So please, do not cook the snake with the head or rattle on. If the snake has been bitten by another snake, all venom will be removed in the cooking process, maybe. But, then again, it's always better to check this out first; just ask the snake. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Access the Recipes And More list archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/recipesandmore%40googlegroups.com/ Visit the group home page at: http://groups.google.com/group/RecipesAndMore -~--~~~~--~~--~--~---

Blue Ribbon Dip This dip is a change of pace. It's not so much for chips. It makes a good dipping sauce for raw vegetables. I also like it with either torn bits of a baguette or thin slices of baguette. [RecipesAndMore] How to Cook a Rattlesnake
How to Cook a Rattlesnake : The meat will taste much like other dishes, depending on the way it is fixed, seasoned, and cooked. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Access the Recipes And More list archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/recipesandmore%40googlegroups.com/ Visit the group home page at: http://groups.google.com/group/RecipesAndMore -~--~~~~--~~--~--~---
[RecipesAndMore] Egg Casserole
Egg Casserole Ingredients: 12-16 slices of bread (crust removed and sliced in half) 8 eggs (you can use egg substitute or Egg Beaters eggs) 2 cups milk 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 pound cheddar cheese, grated 1 pound Jimmy Dean pork sausage (cooked and drained) or 2 cups ham, cubed 1/2 cup melted butter Method: Remove crusts from bread and cut each slice in half. Line bottom of 9-by-13-inch Pyrex baking dish with one layer of bread. Pour drained sausage (or ham) evenly over bread. Cover with grated cheese, then cover with another layer of bread triangles. Beat eggs, salt, milk, and butter. Pour liquid very slowly and evenly over entire casserole. Refrigerate overnight. Bake uncovered next morning at 375 degrees for forty to fifty minutes or until golden brown. I serve with a fruit salad, fruit juice, and maybe even some miniature muffins. Sometimes I'll even fry bacon to serve on the side. Enjoy. Note: I add onions in the pork sausage when I cook it, but you don't have to. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Access the Recipes And More list archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/recipesandmore%40googlegroups.com/ Visit the group home page at: http://groups.google.com/group/RecipesAndMore -~--~~~~--~~--~--~---
[RecipesAndMore] Pecan Pie
Pecan Pie Ingredients: 1 9-inch pie shell Filling for 9-inch pie 3 eggs 2/3 cup sugar 1/3 teaspoon salt 1/3 cup butter, melted 1 cup dark corn syrup (Karo is best for this recipe) 1 cup pecan halves Method: Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix all filling ingredients, except pecan halves. Stir in pecan halves. Pour filling into unbaked pie shell. Bake until filling is set and pastry is nicely browned (forty to fifty minutes). Helpful hint: I place the pie on a foil-covered cookie sheet before baking. This prevents oven spills, meaning less cleanup later. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Access the Recipes And More list archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/recipesandmore%40googlegroups.com/ Visit the group home page at: http://groups.google.com/group/RecipesAndMore -~--~~~~--~~--~--~---
[RecipesAndMore] Grandpa's Divinity
Grandpa's Divinity Ingredients: 3 cups sugar 1/2 cup white corn syrup (Karo) 1/2 cup hot water 2 egg whites, beaten until stiff peaks form 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Method: combine sugar, corn syrup, and hot water and bring to a boil in saucepan. Cook syrup, stirring frequently to soft ball stage (238 degrees on a candy thermometer) or until you can drop a bit into ice water and form a soft ball when you roll it in your fingers. Meanwhile beat egg whites. I like to add food color to egg whites while mixer is going. Pour half of hot syrup gradually into egg whites while you continue to beat the whites. A standing mixer is the easiest, but I've done it with a hand mixer. Pour slowly but change quickly from pouring to beating if you are using a hand mixer. Try to secure the bowl so that you can mix and pour simultaneously. Continue cooking the remainder of the syrup until it reaches the hard ball stage (250 degrees or until a little dropped into a cup of ice water can be rolled into a firm ball). Gradually add the rest of syrup to egg whites while beating. Then add vanilla and continue beating while the candy cools. If you like, add chopped nuts, candied cherries, etc. while you beat the cooling candy. If you can make a peak stand up when you touch the confection, it is cool enough. Don't let it get so cool that it hardens in the bowl, or you and your family will be digging it out of the bowl to eat it. When confection is just cool enough, spoon onto waxed paper in uniform dollops. Makes about four dozen pieces. Store in a tightly covered container in the refrigerator. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Access the Recipes And More list archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/recipesandmore%40googlegroups.com/ Visit the group home page at: http://groups.google.com/group/RecipesAndMore -~--~~~~--~~--~--~---
[RecipesAndMore] Re: Ask for an American
thanks for this i never new this - Original Message - From: Sherri Crum sssmile...@gmail.com To: RecipesAndMore@googlegroups.com Sent: Tuesday, June 02, 2009 7:01 PM Subject: [RecipesAndMore] Ask for an American I got this from a friend and thought I would share it with the group. I didn't edit the original message, just cut and pasted as it was. I think whoever originally sent it has some good ideas. Sherri ** Subject: Ask for an american Try to remember this EVERY TIME you have to talk to a customer service representative and you cannot understand them. I did not know that we could do this, but I sure am going to try it. Help bring jobs back to the U.S.A. Ask for an American! How to save some American jobs and we can help! Hi Everyone, I want to share with you some great information that I found out purely by accident. I believe it can also save and create jobs in America while giving people better customer service. So how many times have you called a companies service phone line and found that the rep. can barely speak English? Once with a major mortgage company it was so bad I demanded to speak with someone who spoke English. Right at that moment I broke the code, the secret password for customer service. Come to find out that every American company using overseas operators must transfer you to an American rep. by saying... I want to speak to a representative in America . (Don't take no for an answer on this) This was confirmed by the American rep. that they must transfer you after that request. I've tried it on a half a dozen major companies including cable, bank, phone and mortgage companies. It works every time and I actually get my issues taken care of. Last thing to help save even more jobs don't use the automated check out lanes they are pushing at the big box stores. Once again I found out that if we use those check outs rather than cashiers people loose their jobs too. I've refused to use the automated check outs and have had two cashiers already thank me for help saving their job.. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Access the Recipes And More list archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/recipesandmore%40googlegroups.com/ Visit the group home page at: http://groups.google.com/group/RecipesAndMore -~--~~~~--~~--~--~---

Action Needed To Protect Access Rights of Blind To Literature USA,Canada and the EU attempt to kill treaty to protect blind people's access to written material USA, Canada and the EU attempt to kill treaty to protect blind people's access to written material Posted by Cory Doctorow, May 29, 2009 1:52 AM | permalink Right now, in Geneva, at the UN's World Intellectual Property Organization, history is being made. For the first time in WIPO history, the body that creates the world's copyright treaties is attempting to write a copyright treaty dedicated to protecting the interests of copyright users, not just copyright owners. At issue is a treaty to protect the rights of blind people and people with other disabilities that affect reading (people with dyslexia, people who are paralyzed or lack arms or hands for turning pages), introduced by Brazil, Ecuador and Paraguay. This should be a slam dunk: who wouldn't want a harmonized system of copyright exceptions that ensure that it's possible for disabled people to get access to the written word? The USA, that's who. The Obama administration's negotiators have joined with a rogue's gallery of rich country trade representatives to oppose protection for blind people. Other nations and regions opposing the rights of blind people include Canada and the EU. Update: Also opposing rights for disabled people: Australia, New Zealand, the Vatican and Norway. Update 2: Countries that are on the right side of this include, Latin American and Caribbean region including (Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Jamaica) as well as Asia and Africa. Update 3: Canada is upset with me. That's fine, I'm upset with Canada. Activists at WIPO are desperate to get the word out. They're tweeting madly from the negotiation (technically called the 18th session of the Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights) publishing editorials on the Huffington Post, etc. Here's where you come in: this has to get wide exposure, to get cast as broadly as possible, so that it will find its way into the ears of the obscure power-brokers who control national trade-negotiators. I don't often ask readers to do things like this, but please, forward this post to people you know in the US, Canada and the EU, and ask them to reblog, tweet, and spread the word, especially to government officials and activists who work on disabled rights. We know that WIPO negotiations can be overwhelmed by citizen activists -- that's how we killed the Broadcast Treaty negotiation a few years back -- and with your help, we can make history, and create a world where copyright law protects the public interest. I am attending a meeting in Geneva of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). This evening the United States government, in combination with other high income countries in Group B is seeking to block an agreement to discuss a treaty for persons who are blind or have other reading disabilities. The proposal for a treaty is supported by a large number of civil society NGOs, the World Blind Union, the National Federation of the Blind in the US, the International DAISY Consortium, Recording for the Blind Dyslexic (RFBD), Bookshare.Org, and groups representing persons with reading disabilities all around the world. The main aim of the treaty is to allow the cross-border import and export of digital copies of books and other copyrighted works in formats that are accessible to persons who are blind, visually impaired, dyslexic or have other reading disabilities, using special devices that present text as refreshable braille, computer generated text to speech, or large type. These works, which are expensive to make, are typically created under national exceptions to copyright law that are specifically written to benefit persons with disabilities... The opposition from the United States and other high income countries is due to intense lobbying from a large group of publishers that oppose a paradigm shift, where treaties would protect consumer interests, rather than expand rights for copyright owners. The Obama Administration was lobbied heavily on this issue, including meetings with high level White House officials. Assurances coming into the negotiations this week that things were going in the right direction have turned out to be false, as the United States delegation has basically read from a script written by lobbyists for publishers, extolling the virtues of market based solutions, ignoring mountains of evidence of

[RecipesAndMore] AADD
AAADD KNOW THE SYMPTOMS?.PLEASE READ!* Thank goodness there's a name for this disorder. Somehow I feel better, even though I have it!! Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. -* Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder. This is how it manifests:* I decide to water my garden. As I turn on the hose in the driveway,* I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.* As I start toward the garage,* I notice mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mail box earlier.* I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car. I lay my car keys on the table,* put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, and notice that the can is full.* So, I decide to put the bills back* on the table and take out the garbage first..* But then I think,* since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first.* I take my check book off the table,* and see that there is only one check left.* My extra checks are in my desk in the study,* so I go inside the house to my desk where I find the can of Pepsi I'd been drinking* I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the Pepsi aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over. The Pepsi is getting warm,* and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.* As I head toward the kitchen with the Pepsi,* a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye--they need water.* I put the Pepsi on the counter and discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning.* I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers.* I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table. I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I'll be looking for the remote, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers.* I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on the floor.* So, I set the remote back on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill.* Then, I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.* At the end of the day: the car isn't washed the bills aren't paid there is a warm can of Pepsi sitting on the counter the flowers don't have enough water, there is still only 1 check in my check book, I can't find the remote, I can't find my glasses, and I don't remember what I did with the car keys. Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day, and I'm really tired. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Access the Recipes And More list archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/recipesandmore%40googlegroups.com/ Visit the group home page at: http://groups.google.com/group/RecipesAndMore -~--~~~~--~~--~--~---
[RecipesAndMore] Patriotic Retirement Plan.
Patriotic Retirement Plan. Dear Mr. President: Please find below my suggestion for fixing America 's economy. Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan. You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan: There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force. Pay them $1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations: 1) They MUST retire. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed. 2) They MUST buy a new American CAR. Forty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed. 3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage - Housing Crisis fixed. It can't get any easier than that! If more money is needed, have all members of Congress and their constituents pay their taxes... If you think this would work, please forward to everyone you know. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Access the Recipes And More list archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/recipesandmore%40googlegroups.com/ Visit the group home page at: http://groups.google.com/group/RecipesAndMore -~--~~~~--~~--~--~---

[RecipesAndMore] BAKED POTATOES SUPREME
BAKED POTATOES SUPREME 2 large Idaho potatoes, baked 1 egg, hard cooked, peeled, and grated coarsely 4 cups broccoli, chopped (optional) 1/2 cup grated mozzarella cheese (reserve a few spoonfuls for topping) 4 strips bacon, sautéed and crumbled or chopped 4 teaspoons butter (2 for each potato) 1/4 cup sour cream 1/3 teaspoon each salt and pepper Wash and cut up broccoli (optional), set aside. Scrub potatoes, then rub with a small amount of vegetable, peanut or olive oil. Cook in microwave until fork tender, about 10 minutes, depending on size of potatoes and wattage of your oven. While potatoes are cooking, steam or simmer broccoli until just tender but still crisp. When broccoli becomes a bright green, drain, remove from heat and return to pan with cover briefly to finish cooking. If broccoli becomes an olive green, it's overcooked. Cut an oval circle from top of potatoes and scoop out meat while still hot. In a small bowl, mash together with cheese, bacon, and sour cream and butter and coarsely chopped egg. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Return mixture to potatoes. Top with remaining cheese and broil 5 minutes more, garnish with fresh herbs and serve. Variations: Add 1-2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives, dill, or rosemary. Use olive oil instead of butter. Use onion dip instead of sour cream. Use Parmesan cheese instead of mozzarella. Substitute Serrano ham or prosciutto for bacon. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Access the Recipes And More list archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/recipesandmore%40googlegroups.com/ Visit the group home page at: http://groups.google.com/group/RecipesAndMore -~--~~~~--~~--~--~---
[RecipesAndMore] Beany's Mashed Potatoes
Beany's Mashed Potatoes Serves 6 6 medium size potatoes 1/2 cup half and half 3 tablespoons butter 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon pepper Peel the potatoes and cut them in to halves or quarters. Place them in a pot containing enough boiling water to cover them and simmer until done: drain. Heat the half and half just to the boiling point and add the butter, salt and pepper. Mash the potatoes with a potato masher or beat with an electric mixer until all the lumps are out. Add the seasoned half and half and using either the electric mixer or wooden spoon and elbow grease whip them until they are creamy and light as a cloud. Johnny was the mashed potato beater at the malones. It is a good idea not to add all the hot milk mixture right at the first some potatoes seem to require more liquid than others. [RecipesAndMore] The Lords Baseball Game
The Lord's Baseball Game Bob and the Lord stood by to observe a baseball game. The Lord's team was playing Satan's team. The Lord's team was at bat, the score was tied zero to zero, and it was the bottom of the 9th inning with two outs. They continued to watch as a batter stepped up to the plate whose name was Love. Love swung at the first pitch and hit a single, because Love never fails. The next batter was named Faith, who also got a single because Faith works with Love. The next batter up was named Godly wisdom. Satan wound up and threw the first pitch. Godly Wisdom looked it over and let it pass: Ball one. Three more pitches and Godly Wisdom walked, because Godly wisdom never swings at what Satan throws. The bases were loaded. The Lord then turned to Bob and told him He was now going to bring in His star player. Up to the plate stepped Grace. Bob said, He sure doesn't look like much! Satan's whole team relaxed when they saw Grace. Thinking he had won the game, Satan wound up and fired his first pitch. To the shock of everyone, Grace hit the ball harder than anyone had ever seen. But Satan was not worried; his center fielder let very few get by. He went up for the ball, but it went right through his glove, hit him on the head and sent him crashing on the ground; then it continued over the fence for a home run! The Lord's team won. The Lord then asked Bob if he knew why Love, Faith, and Godly Wisdom could get on base but could not win the game. Bob answered that he did not know why. The Lord explained, If your love, faith and wisdom had won the game you would think you had done it by yourself. Love, faith and wisdom will get you on base, but only My Grace can get you home. My Grace is the one thing Satan cannot steal. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Access the Recipes And More list archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/recipesandmore%40googlegroups.com/ Visit the group home page at: http://groups.google.com/group/RecipesAndMore -~--~~~~--~~--~--~---

[RecipesAndMore] google threat
I dont Know how true this is just be careful, is all i can say Delma Google results poisoned with malicious links Security threat found on legitimate websites Robert McMillan A new attack that peppers Google search results with malicious links is spreading quickly, the US Computer Emergence Response Team has warned. The attack, which has intensified in recent days, can be found on several thousand legitimate websites, according to security experts. It targets known flaws in Adobe's software and uses them to install a malicious program on victims' machines, CERT said. The program then steals FTP login credentials from victims and uses that information to spread further. It also hijacks the victim's browser, replacing Google search results with links chosen by the attackers. Security experts started tracking the attack in March, when it had infected several hundred websites, but in recent weeks the number of infected sites has jumped dramatically. The attack has been called Gumblar because at one point it used the Gumblar.cn domain, though on Monday it had switched to a different one. Security vendor ScanSafe has counted more than 3,000 infected websites, up from around 800 just over a week ago. That kind of continued growth is unusual, according to Mary Landesman, a senior security researcher with ScanSafe. Attackers have launched many widespread web attacks over the past few years, but after a few months the total number of infected sites usually drops as webmasters clean up their servers. With Gumblar, more and more sites are now being infected. Landesman believes it's because Gumblar's creators have been good at obfuscating their attack code and making it harder to spot on infected sites. And because they've been stealing FTP login credentials, they've been able to use a few new tricks to get their software onto the sites. They're doing things like changing folder permissions . and leaving behind multiple ways that they can get back into the server, she said. Still, web attacks have become so widespread that Gumblar remains a relatively small-scale phenomenon, according to Symantec Security Response Product Manager John Harrison. Last year, Symantec counted 18 million online attacks against its customers. With Gumblar, it has counted 10,000. It's really just another day with drive-by downloads, he said. There really are so many of these. Security experts say that if you're using a fully-patched system with up-to-date security software, you should be protected from these attacks. To date, they've worked by hitting the victim with malicious PDF or Flash files. There are some questions that can't be answered by Google. Down in the mouth? Come in for a faith lift. All services are different, we leave the repeats to TV. As you pass this little church, Be sure to plan a visit, So when at last you're carried in, God won't ask Who is it? Can't sleep? Don't count sheep, talk to the Shepherd! Speak well of your enemies. After all, you made them. Let us help you study for your final exams. Almost 2000 years old and still under the Maker's guarantee. God is perfect.only man makes misteaks. We are the SOUL Agents in this area! The MEEK.shall inherit the earth.if it's alright with you! Happy Easter to our Christian friends, Happy Passover to our Jewish friends..to our atheist friends.Good luck. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Access the Recipes And More list archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/recipesandmore%40googlegroups.com/ Visit the group home page at: http://groups.google.com/group/RecipesAndMore -~--~~~~--~~--~--~---
[RecipesAndMore] lots of Tips
Fleas - fleas hate mint. Placing mint under pet mattresses, mats carpets helps keep the fleas away. Replace often. Baby oil will remove paint from your skin, and you'll do double duty by not only removing the paint; you'll also soften your skin. Store tomatoes with the stems pointing downward and they will stay fresher longer. Brighten laundry whites. Add 1/2 cup lemon juice to the wash cycle of a normal-size load. Relieve a sore throat. Cut a lemon in half. Skewer one half over a medium flame on a gas stove or an electric burner set on high and roast until the peel turns golden brown. Let cool slightly, then mix the juice with 1 teaspoon of honey. Swallow the mixture. For washing up, fill the bowl with hot water, a dash of soap-powder and half a lemon. Wash in this solution and rinse with clean water. This will clean the dishes much better than any branded washing-up liquid, and makes glass gleam! To keep potatoes from budding, place an apple in the bag with the potatoes. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Access the Recipes And More list archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/recipesandmore%40googlegroups.com/ Visit the group home page at: http://groups.google.com/group/RecipesAndMore -~--~~~~--~~--~--~---

[RecipesAndMore] Some info about Screen Readers.
*** Thunder is a free screen-access program as long as its use is personal. If Thunder is being used in a work setting, the company is asked to contact Screenreader.net CIC to discuss pricing. Thunder can be downloaded from www.screenreader.net and installed on any computer running Windows 2000, XP, or Vista. Windows 98, ME, and earlier versions are not compatible with Thunder. A pro version is available for a fee that runs from a thumb drive. Thunder is compatible with the following programs: Outlook Express, Microsoft Word, WordPad, Notepad, MS Calculator, MS Excel, Nod32 AntiVirus, Listen Again radio, and MS Sound Recorder. When you download Thunder, an additional program called WebbIE is automatically downloaded and installed with Thunder for browsing the Internet. Thunder is controlled by standard Windows commands, and there are special commands for controlling Thunder. Its greatest limitation is Web browsing. The only way to navigate the Web is by using WebbIE. It is important to read the hot keys list at www.screenreader.net because there are several special commands for Web browsing. When filling out a form on the Web, you must press Enter before typing in the form field. NVDA The next screen reader is NVDA, which stands for NonVisual Desktop Access. It is free and can be downloaded by visiting http://www.nvda-project.org . This is experimental software and may contain bugs. We find it very responsive and easy to use. NVDA will run on Windows XP and Windows Vista. NVDA supports both SAPI 4 and 5 voices, Audiologic, Display, and Silence it comes with eSpeak as the default speech synthesizer. It can be installed to a PC, or the files can be placed on a CD or USB thumb drive for portable use. If the installer is downloaded to a PC, voiced instructions will guide the user through the installation. If the program is placed on a USB thumb drive, the user will need to start the program manually. NVDA supports MS Word 2003, Firefox, Thunderbird, Internet Explorer, Outlook Express, MS Excel 2003, IBM Lotus Symphony, and many other programs. It is worth being cautious about using these screen access software packages outside of their stated scope. For example, NVDA performed less than desirably with Microsoft Outlook 2003 (as opposed to Outlook Express). While it was possible to read the Inbox message list and read messages, a number of areas caused NVDA to stop responding. When composing a new message, we could not read the auto-complete options for an email address. Additionally, when reviewing the To, Cc, and Bcc fields, we found the addresses unreadable. The address book, which opens when Outlook prompts the user to confirm an address, did not read at all. Our system also stopped responding when we reached the message edit area of the new message form. We could enter text, but NVDA did not allow us to review or edit it. The Outlook calendar and contacts folders were not read at all. A blind user has no way of reviewing this information in the standard views. There is currently no support for Microsoft Office 2007. When you are in an edit field while browsing the Internet, Enter or the space bar must be pressed before filling in the form or choosing a radio button. We recommend that Firefox be used to browse the Web; however, we have used Internet Explorer successfully. When you are going to a Web page that needs to refresh automatically, Firefox will yield better results. When navigating the Web, the user can move to forms, tables, headings, lists, and links by pressing a single key. NVDA has built in keyboard help. When NVDA is installed on the computer, start up time is very fast. User settings can be changed and saved within the Preference menu of the program. Voice settings, mouse settings, speech synthesizer, mouse, and many other options are available from this menu. ** System Access Another screen access software package is System Access. This low cost screen reader is available from http://www.serotek.com It can be purchased outright; alternatively, the user can get a monthly subscription. Prices vary depending on the package you choose. Contact Serotek for current pricing information or visit http://www.serotek.com/cas.html The AIR Foundation and Serotek now also offer System Access to Go, which gives free screen access using the Website www.satogo.com System Access by default comes with Dectalk voices. For an additional fee two Real Speak voices can be downloaded and installed. This program runs on Windows 2003 Server, Windows XP, and Windows Vista. System Access supports the following applications: Notepad, WordPad, Outlook Express, Email Center on a Vista machine, Excel, PowerPoint, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Office 2007, Skype, and many other programs. System Access is easy to use because it uses many standard Windows commands. Moreover, many screen

Penny Pinching Cooking Tips. Roast Beef Cooking Tip Easy, use your crock pot. Place your potatoes carrots onions in the bottom put your roast on top. Pour a package of onion soup mix over add a cup of water. Turn on low by the time you get home from work you will have a deliciously cooked meal to serve. * Don't have onion soup mix, substitute!! Crush a couple beef bouillon cubes add some dried onion flakes, you will never know the difference. Want a little different flavor? Instead of water, pour in a cup of bourbon or a cup of wine (any kind). The alcohol cooks out, so don't let that be a worry. Stroganoff Now that you have leftover roast beef, you can make stroganoff. Cut your beef into small cubes, heat through with a can of mushroom soup, stir in a cup of sour cream if you want add a little bit of red wine; serve over hot buttered noodles. * Don't have any sour cream? Substitute!! Do you have a cup of cottage cheese? Place 1 cup of cottage cheese, 5 Tbs of milk 1 Tbs of lemon juice in the blender blend until smooth creamy. Chicken Gravy Use your crock pot. Place your chicken pieces (any pieces will do, drumsticks, thighs or whole cut up) in the crock pot. Add a can of cream of mushroom, cream of chicken, cream of celery, or creamy tomato. You could even use barbecue sauce. Cook on low when you are ready to eat, serve over rice or noodles. Your family will love you. * Don't have creamy tomato, but have a can of regular tomato soup? Make your own, simply add a half can of milk blend together. You could even make it spicy by adding some salsa or Tabasco. Potato Pancakes Don't know what to do with that little bit of mashed potatoes? Make potato pancakes. Stir the potatoes with some milk baking powder. The consistency of regular pancakes. Fry in a little bit of butter or margarine, making them about the size of dollar pancakes. If you wish add some onion or grated cheese or both. Serve with sour cream or spread cheese. Delicious!! Great Green Beans Want a change from ordinary plain green beans? Take a can of green beans drain. Cook until heated through in a pan or in the microwave, add a little butter to coat add garlic salt or garlic powder sour cream or mayonnaise. Tasty!! Even my children who didn't like vegetables loved them this way. Chopped Onion Use chopped onions all the time, but tired of chopping every time you need them? Prepare ahead. Buy that bag of onions chop all of them to the size you like. Spread out on a cookie sheet place in the freezer. After they are frozen, put into a zip lock bag put back in the freezer. Ready to use anytime you need them.
