Re: CS>Potent antiviral effect of silver nanoparticles on SARS-CoV-2

All I can read is the abstract.  It talks about 1 ppm to 20 ppm, and
above 20 ppm.  Was this in vitro or in vivo?  Also is that the
concentration given, or the concentration the virus was exposed to?  If
the latter, then that is a huge amount of CS (gallons of 40 ppm) to drink.

Re: CS>Bicarbonate Proves to be Cheapest Fastest Safest COVID Treatment

2021-04-18 Thread Marshall
First you want to increase pH, not decrease it. Lower pH is more acid.
What increases the pH is the amount of sodium, period. Mixing with
lemon juice has no effect on the final outcome. What it does though is
prevent the imbalance of the stomach acid by the highly basic (alkaline)
bicarbonate of soda. If you continually drop the acid, the stomach
makes more to balance, and over time can lead to an overproduction of
acid. Also sodium citrate tastes much better than bicarb.

Simple. Baking soda is an inorganic base, and lemon juice is acid
fromcitric acid an organic acid. When they react with each other
you getsodium citrate, water and carbon dioxide. Sodium citrate is
a salt, and when it gets to the stomach become sodium chloride, or
common saltand citric acid. The citric acid which is made up of
hydrogen, oxygen, and carbon gets digested and becomes neutral (the
carbon in the endbecomes carbon dioxide, which is breathed out).
Since the amount ofhydrochloric acid in the stomach has been
reduced, this has an overallalkalizing effect on the body.
Basically an inorganic base or acid willaffecct the body's pH, but
an organic one will not, since the organicwill be nothing more
than hydrogen, oxygen and carbon in variousproportions, that
breaks down to water, and carbon dioxide which isbreathed out. Now
there are some inorganic bases which also do notaffect the ph,
such as ammonia, as the nitrogen gets released upondigestion,
leaving nothing but water. If a base has a alkali metal in it, then
it will alkalize the body, ifit does not, it won't. Thus anything
made with lithium, sodium, potassium and calcium will alkalize. On
the acid side anything withsulfur (sulfate), chlorine or
phosphorous (phosphate) will acidify. Those that don't have these
will end up doing nothing, such as ammonium, nitrate, carbonate,
citrate, acetate. If you have one of each, they cancel, you have a
salt which doesnothing, such as sodium chloride.

Re: CS>Bicarbonate Proves to be Cheapest Fastest Safest COVID Treatment

2021-03-04 Thread Marshall
Yep. I was saying why that is true. For lemon juice a serving contains
the following:

3,000 mg of citric acid
38 mg of vitamin C or ascorbic acid
 6 mg calcium
103 mg potassium
1 mg sodium

The citric and ascorbic acid make the juice's acid. When digested both
become nothing more than water, and carbon dioxide which is exhaled.
Water is neutral, so all the acid component disappears. The minerals
remain are all alkaline, so after metabolism, they will end up
alkalizing the body.

alkalizing with many *health benefits*.

Heat with vinegar, or vinegar and water. The acid will react with the
calcium carbonate, and change it to calcium acetate which is highly

I cut the end off my thumb with a table saw when I was a teenager. It
healed, but the end was scar tissue, with no fingerprint. 40 years
later I managed to cut it off again. That time I kept it wet with CS
for several days. It healed with normal tissue, with a fingerprint. I
only wish I had a fingerprint of it before it was cut the first time to
see if it healed the same or different.

Maybe not 90%, but certainly a lot. Some areas have had around a 15%

a year now. At that rate 100% would have had it and be immune in only

CS>Digestion of silver in CS for accurate measurement of silver content

2020-04-26 Thread Marshall
If you use the pan method of measuring silver, as is typical with both
Hach and Hanna instruments, for measuring silver content, you will get
results for the ionic silver only. This is similar to what you get with
a conductivity test, neither measure the colloidal portion.

To get the complete silver content it is necessary to digest the
silver. Typically adding a small amount of nitric acid will produce
silver nitrate from the particles (as well as the Ag2O), and can thus be
measured with these colorameters.

However nitric acid is nasty to handle, and dangerous. The reaction
also gives off nitric oxide, which is not healthy, so this should
probably be done outside, or in a fume hood.

I am looking for a method of digestion that can use common chemicals
found around the house. There are very few things that will "dissolve"
silver metal. The only one I can find that is not a health hazard is
H2O2, hydrogen peroxide.

When you add H2O2 to CS, you get two reactions. First it will react
with all the Ag2O ionic silver, and produce an Ag2 colloid. Then it
will react with the silver particles, and produce Ag2O, which then
reacts with the H2O2 to produce Ag2. Finally it will react with the Ag2
particles to produce Ag2O. So we end up in the end with a mix of Ag2O
and Ag2 particles, as each are continually changed from one to the
other, and back again by the redux reaction.

This would end up causing only about half of the silver to be measured
by a colorameter, since about half will be Ag2 particles.

So I was thinking, what if we first add a little baking soda to the CS.
This will immediately cause the Ag2O to become silver carbonate, which
is soluble at the concentration of CS. This leaves the colloidal
particles, and the addition of a small amount of H2O2 should cause that
to convert to Ag2O, which will then immediately be scavenged by the
NaHCO2 (baking soda), producing more silver carbonate.

If my thinking on this is correct, this should quickly, easily, and
safely convert all CS to 100% silver carbonate.

Any chemists here who can confirm this?

Thanks,

Marshall

Re: CS>CoVid INFO -- MPORTANT --- Silver is a Broad Spectrum Antiviral -- Paul Maher, MD

2020-04-22 Thread Marshall
Some notes on this. The author is comparing silver nanoparticles, to
silver carbonate, which is an ionic form of silver. Their experiment
was with silver nanoparticles being continually slowly being converted
to silver carbonate for water treatment. Basically it is saying that
ionic silver is 1,000 times as potent an antiviral as colloidal silver,
something most of us already knew. Also this took place outside the body.

Practically it should have little effect on CS taken by mouth. When CS
hits the stomach the silver oxide ionic portion reacts with the stomach
acid and immediately produces silver chloride. If you mix it with
baking soda, the ionic portion will become silver carbonate, and when
that hits the stomach acid, it becomes silver chloride. Thus the end
result is the same.

The only thing affected by this would be the colloidal part, maybe 10 to
20% of the silver. This will convert to silver carbonate slowly
according to this article, and could give you a boost in the
effectiveness of the CS of 10 to 20%, if you let it sit long enough to
convert it all.

Here is the paragraph:

" Closing out 2014, Swathy et alxxviii published research on a
surprising synergism between silver nanoparticles and carbonate ions.
The researchers, “discovered that 50 parts per billion (ppb) of Ag(+)
released continuously from silver nanoparticles confined in nanoscale
cages is enough to cause antimicrobial activity in conditions of normal
water.” By way of context, sodium fluoride is often added to water
supplies at a level of 1-2 parts per million, so this is a concentration
of silver some 1/20th to 1/40th that of added fluoride. The authors go
on to state, “the antibacterial and antiviral activities of Ag(+) can be
enhanced ~1,000 fold, selectively, in presence of carbonate ions “ While
not discussed by the authors baking soda is an extremely inexpensive
source of carbonate ions. "

However this is simply a quote from the abstract. The entire article
can be read at https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4241523/ and
to completely understand any implications it needs to be carefully read.

Re: CS>Testing of Colloidal silver

2020-04-19 Thread Marshall
I dug out my old Hanna silver ion meter. It measures ionic silver, so
as such was not much more valuable than doing a conductivity test.
However I now realize all I needed to do is digest the colloidal silver
to be able to measure total silver content. I was wondering what is
recommended for doing this. There are a number of choices, nitric and
sulfuric acid and ammonia are several that can do this, but they are
pretty nasty. The Hach procedure involved both sulfuric and nitric
acid, boiling dry, refluxing, then neutralizing. It required a fume
hood and about an hour to complete. It seems that there should be a
simpler, safer and quicker method for colloid, like using citric or
acetic acid, then neutralizing with baking soda or something.

Thanks,

CS>Testing of Colloidal silver

2020-04-18 Thread Marshall
What laboratory is recommended for testing colloidal silver. I need an
exact measurement of the total silver, but a percentage of colloid vs
ionic would also be nice.

Thanks,

Marshall

This is impacted when stirring is used, right? The ions should be
getting washed away within seconds of being generated. So if stirring
is used, there should be very little rewind time. Am I correct on this
assumption?

A one minute cycle will be quite slow.
A five minute cycle with 20 seconds missing is a lot faster.
You will want the electrodes far enough away from each other that the
ions don't make it all the way to the other side during the cycle.

I space my silver plates at one inch.

BTW, the one minute I use, is for each polarity. So it is really only

Re: CS>Polarity reversal

2020-04-12 Thread Marshall
All I know is I have used one for over 2 decades, and made several
thousand gallons of CS and it is still going strong.

If you cycle too fast, then the efficiency will decrease. For a second
or so after switching ions will be returning to the electrodes, and
plating out.

I think you want it to be fast enough that the coatings don't develop on
the electrodes. I have not played with that, but if you are seeing them
go alternately go black and light grey, it is too slow.

The specs I found on that unit show it to be a power on delay timer, not
a cycle timer. Make sure you get one that will cycle.

I have used an Omron one like this for the last two decades:

It is unclear if that unit will operate on 120 VAC or not as it only
says supply voltage is 230 V max. The nice thing about this is that it
produces a symmetrical on and off.

I just built a unit for my daughter and using a relay like this instead,

link from her, I will send it to you.

It is larger than the other, and the on and off cycles have to be set

In both cases be sure to buy to appropriate socket.

Re: CS>Anode verses cathode size.

2020-04-08 Thread Marshall
I have used the flow through process for about 20 years. It is best if
you alternate the anode and cathode every minute. That prevents the
buildup of black on one and white on the other, since when you reverse
the polarity, it will burn it back off. Obviously if you are doing
that, both electrodes need to be the same size. If you use silver
sheets you can easily get into decent flow through rates. Use a
flowmeter with a fountain pump to regulate the flow, and run a constant
current.

And if it does how would that affect the EIS solution.

Not to bring up bad memories, but was a discussion here a decade ago

clear CS will therefore be unaffected by visible light, but yellow CS
can be degraded by blue light
(which is what yellow absorbs). Now clear CS will generally absorb
ultra violet radiation, and can be affected by uv light. However most
glass absorbs UV light, so it is blocked from affecting it.

CS>Zero Water in place of distilled water

2018-01-16 Thread Marshall
I was wondering if anyone has tried using the "Zero Water" for making
near 0 ppm water for CS. I have read reports which indicate that it
does generate water of near 0 ppm solids. Although it can make only
about 20 gallons if you water is a typical 200 ppm solids, if you use
water from reverse osmosis that is around 20 ppm, you should be able to
make about 100 gallons per $10 filter.

Has anyone tried this, and if so, what was the results.

The pesticide in question, chlorpyrifos, is a nasty piece of work. It’s
an organophosphate, a class of bug killers that work by “interrupting
the electrochemical processes that nerves use to communicate with
muscles and other nerves,” as the /Pesticide Encyclopedia/ puts it
<https://books.google.com/books?id=cnDHBgAAQBAJ=PA4=w4jTqUyU5P=interrupting%20the%20electrochemical%20processes%20that%20nerves%20use%20to%20communicate%20with%20muscles%20and%20with%20other%20nerves=PA4#v=onepage=interrupting%20the%20electrochemical%20processes%20that%20nerves%20use%20to%20communicate%20with%20muscles%20and%20with%20other%20nerves=false>.
Chlorpyrifos is also an endocrine disrupter
<https://www.niehs.nih.gov/health/topics/agents/endocrine/>, meaning it
can cause “adverse developmental, reproductive, neurological, and immune

## Some will always accumulate [about 3% will remain after 24

takes a retained amount over a threshold to turn blue.
At 20 PPM, given a normal elimination system that includes enough
Selenium to supply the metallo-transport proteins with the materials
they need to bind up and eliminate silver and copper, the consumption
rate required to exceed that threshold over a lifetime would probably
lead to water toxicity within a day or so.

5) Does C.S. destroy the gut flora? SHould C.S. only be taken together

## Silver will kill and pathogen it contacts...but... the gut contents
are a semi solid which limits mobility of the silver, thus reducing
opportunities for contact... so, it doesn't do much down there unless
the gut is empty...say...during a food poisoning event after having
run at both ends for a while?

I have come to believe the main obstacle to effectiveness is the
formation of Silver Chloride made when Ionic Silver contacts stomach acid.

I agree, copper would have been a much better choice, it has essentially

The silver bandaid has a layer interwoven with aluminum thread and
another one with silver thread. When body fluids provide the
electrolyte, a battery effect is created which sends silver ions
headed towards the aluminum..only to get lost in the wound.

It is in all respects, a CS generator wrapped around your finger.

The silver dressings such as silverlon and acticoat are used with
small amounts of electrical current to produce the silver ions in
the wound. Often used in burn wards now.

I don't know anything about that use, but a quick search indicates that
it is not used for general filtration, but can be added to a filter to
either raise the pH of the water, or to remove manganese from well
water. It is also used as a coagulent and stabilizer to prevent
precipitation of calcium carbonate from treated water. For sewage it
is used in the liquid part where the water moves through it, and it acts
as a substrate for bacteria to live on that purify the water.

Re: CSTwo studies shows risk with nanosilver for eye and brain

2014-12-17 Thread Marshall

There are several things which make me question this study.

First it is In Vitro, which does not necessarily correspond to in vivo
application.

Second this was done with a growing culture. That is tremendously
different than tissue that is not growing. For instance in an adult
there are three things which are continually growing, hair, fingernails,
and the dermis. And as we know any sign of argyria shows up in these
three areas. That is silver tends to be captured by growing tissue. So
although this might apply to a fetus, it certainly does not to an adult.

Third they say that this solution is citrate stabilized. This doesn't
make a lot of sense to me. It sounds like they are saying that silver
ions present are reacted with citric acid to produce silver citrate to
maintain solubility. This should have nothing to do with the particles,
which they are suppose to be studying. However it is known that silver
citrate transverses barriers in the body that most other forms of silver
do not. This is a concern.

Fourth they indicate that they are adding silver nitrate to the particle
solution. This, if I am reading it correctly, completely invalidates
the results, since the nitrate is highly toxic to tissues, and very
prone to plating out on the particles making them grow (photo
development process).

Fifth, they attribute the toxicity of silver nitrate to the silver ions,
which is incorrect, the toxicity is from the nitrate ion. Other forms
of silver, such as silver oxide, silver hydroxide, silver citrate and so
forth do not have this toxicity.

Because of the above, I think it is impossible to draw any conclusions
when applied to normal usage of colloidal silver.

Silver nitrate has two ions, silver and the nitrate. Compounds of
silver, such as silver citrate, silver acetate, silver chloride, silver

of ORAL (LD50): Acute: 1173 mg/kg, which is right in line with the other
nitrates.

For compounds of silver (except silver nitrate), I find either the msds
shows N/A, or a health rating of 0 (which means benign), or in on one
MSDS sheet as being greater than 10 grams per kg. Note that table salt
is 3 gram per kg, so that means it is less toxic than table salt.

I had read that the nitrate ion is responsible for the toxicity of

mailto:mdud...@king-cart.com:

There are several things which make me question this study.

First it is In Vitro, which does not necessarily correspond to in
vivo application.

Second this was done with a growing culture. That is tremendously
different than tissue that is not growing. For instance in an
adult there are three things which are continually growing, hair,
fingernails, and the dermis. And as we know any sign of argyria
shows up in these three areas. That is silver tends to be
captured by growing tissue. So although this might apply to a
fetus, it certainly does not to an adult.

Third they say that this solution is citrate stabilized. This
doesn't make a lot of sense to me. It sounds like they are saying
that silver ions present are reacted with citric acid to produce
silver citrate to maintain solubility. This should have nothing
to do with the particles, which they are suppose to be studying.
However it is known that silver citrate transverses barriers in

the body that most other forms of silver do not. This is a concern.

Fourth they indicate that they are adding silver nitrate to the
particle solution. This, if I am reading it correctly, completely
invalidates the results, since the nitrate is highly toxic to
tissues, and very prone to plating out on the particles making
them grow (photo development process).

Fifth, they attribute the toxicity of silver nitrate to the silver
ions, which is incorrect, the toxicity is from the nitrate ion.
Other forms of silver, such as silver oxide, silver hydroxide,

silver citrate and so forth do not have this toxicity.

Because of the above, I think it is impossible to draw any
conclusions when applied to normal usage of colloidal silver.

Use a flow through design. You need to pump slightly over 2 gallons
an hour, use 100 or more square inches of anode, and about 100 mA of
current, polarity switched every minute. You also need a stirrer, or
a pump to stir the water.

It really does not appear that way to me. It says that some forms of
silver are toxic (which they are, like silver nitrate), and that one
should research and find the non-toxic forms that work well (like
colloidal silver). At last that is what I got out of it. I am amazed

Chlorine and chlorine dioxide are two different things. If you assume
that compounds that contain chlorine are harmful simply because the
element is, then that would include salt, which is an essential
nutrient, as well as all amino acids, which are also essential for life
and proteins, which all muscle tissues are made of, and the hydrochloric

Chlorine has been known for years to both cause and worsenrespiratory
