The article quoted below specifically mentions that pine bark extract seals leaky blood vessels in the eye. The author of the article is one to read with caution (he's prone to hyperbole at the very least) IMO. http://www.naturalnews.com/027920_pycnogenol_diabetes.html A total of 46 diabetic patients were involved in the randomized, controlled study. Twenty-four of them were treated with pine bark extract once a day for three months while the remaining 22 were given a placebo. All the patients http://www.naturalnews.com/patients.html had diabetes for at least four years and all were beginning to develop retinopathy http://www.naturalnews.com/retinopathy.html. *Seventy-five percent of patients in the pine bark group experienced improvement in their vision* while none in the placebo http://www.naturalnews.com/placebo.html group did. Dr. Robert Steigerwalt, one of the lead researchers of the study, confirmed that not only does pine bark extract halt the progression of diabetic http://www.naturalnews.com/diabetic.html retinopathy, it can cause it to regress by sealing the leaky blood vessels in the eye that lead to the disease http://www.naturalnews.com/disease.html. Such results were witnessed in as little as two months. He also noted that diabetics http://www.naturalnews.com/diabetics.html in the early stages of the disease can prevent such complications from ever occurring by supplementing with pine bark extract. Pycnogenol, the branded formula of the antioxidant http://www.naturalnews.com/antioxidant.html plant extract derived from the French maritime pine tree, has proven itself time and time again to be a powerful protective nutrient, particularly for diabetics. When administered during the early stages of diabetes http://www.naturalnews.com/diabetes.html, many studies have shown that pine bark is effective at preventing and treating the diabetic retinal diseases.

I get this a lot, so here goes. 3000mgs of l-lysine per day on an empty stomach, 15 little tablets of chlorella, copious amounts of CS and dab CS mixed with DMSO on to the spots. Usually takes around a week to go. For just preventing the 'stabbing pains' which is still shingles but it hasn't 'broken out' yet, I just have CS plus seven tabs of chlorella. I take chlorella on a daily basis as a supplement and this prevents the stabbing pains. dee On 9 Jan 2010, at 22:31, gwms...@optonline.net wrote: A GOOD FRIEND OF MINE HAS SHINGLES. The thing is, if you take chlorella or kelp, you get the whole spectrum of vits and minerals in a balanced food form, which is the best way. To take separate minerals is a very dicey thing to do because to unbalance them will bring more problems than a deficiency. Also the form of mineral is really important too as for instance, magnesium oxide is more difficult to 'use' than the magnesium citrate form. It is better for the body to take things in a food form. dee On 9 Jan 2010, at 01:30, Annie B Smythe wrote: Horse Chestnut, and Bilberry will help strengthen the capillaries, veins and arteries, everywhere in the body. Re: CScapillaries in eyes breaking
The problem there is that a person might be deficient in one or two things and taking something in a food form will help but not totally correct the deficiency. In order to bring that one or two that you're low in to a sufficient level they'd have to eat a ton of whatever it is they're low in, and over do in others. That's why I like separate supplements so I can tweak the dosage as needed. I hate all in one supplements. Food forms are great if there is a mild deficiency. However the bigger amounts of Vit C that I see people take cannot be had from food or everyone would be as big as barns:) The typical standard processed diet, and even a more healthy diet, and generally low amounts of vitamins and minerals due to large scale food production practices, anymore leaches vitamins and minerals faster than they can be replaced by diet alone. Not to mention the fluoride, bromides, chlorine, aluminum, mercury, lead, and other chemicals in food. The list goes on and on MSG, HFCS, genetically modified foods, and processed bleached salt, there are many more, I can't name all of them.. They number in the hundreds. Then there are the external pollutants such as smog, and etc. Diabetics are usually low in magnesium and zinc, Coq10, and a few others. The only way to know for sure is to have blood levels done to see what is low. 5-10 mg of magnesium per kg is what is recommended in just about every research article I can find. Body weight in lbs divided by 2.2 x 5-10. That amount of magnesium would be very hard to get in food. If it were 100 years ago, I might be convinced, but not now. Magnesium Chloride is absorbed very well. And the reason magnesium is hard to absorb is that the more deficient a person is the less the body absorbs. A person has to keep plugging away at it until the absorption rate increases. Epsom salt baths, magnesium chloride oil, and oral supplementation. The serum levels of magnesium however do not reflect the tissue levels, or the amount that is actually in the cells. If we could get everything we need from food, then there would be no supplement industry. Which is exactly what Big Pharma and the FDA would like. Then God helps us all. Chlorella is a concentrated form of food form supplement. It is described as a superfood so would theoretically have more bioavailable forms of minerals than synthetic ones. The problem with tweaking separate minerals is that it is difficult to actually *know* how deficient one is in any one or more of them. Unless of course as you say, you are tested and even then, as everyones needs are different and few are what the medicos term 'normal,' I would think it impossible to be sure you are not causing an imbalance. dee On 9 Jan 2010, at 12:18, Annie B Smythe wrote: The problem there is that a person might be deficient in one or two things and taking something in a food form will help but not totally correct the deficiency. Here is an article on Lysine for Herpes (Shingles) and a re-post of a comment by Brooks Bradley. This should help greatly. I have also found that a Hulda Clark type zapper is effective for shingles. If there are any hardened areas or sores, you can soften them with Castor oil and then the other modalities will be more effective. Dan LYSINE HAS A SUPPRESSANT AFFECT ON BOTH TYPES OF HERPES SIMPLEX Lysine has a suppressant affect on both types of Herpes Simplex (Type 1 Type 2). It also is effective with Herpes Zoster (Shingles), canker sores, measles and chicken pox, which are viral cousins. In addition to taking 1,000 mg, 3xday of Lysine, it is essential to avoid the foods that contain the amino acid that promotes the Herpes virus and its cousins, which is called Arginine. The two foods with the highest levels of Arginine are chocolate and peanuts, followed by the rest of the nuts, then beans, seeds and grains. Until the Herpes sores are gone, one should avoid these food items. In an especially virulent case of Herpes, as much as 10,000 mg of lysine may be needed to conquer it. The foods that are highest in Lysine are meats (including eggs and fish), dairy products and nutritional (brewers) yeast. Fruits and vegetables contain almost no amino acids, so are safe to eat. Colloidal Silver in generous quantities is also effective against the Herpes virus. Info from: Herpes Can be Prevented, by Nicholas Sampsidis, M.S. CScapillaries in eyes breaking
Dear Group, One of our good friends is having problems with her capillaries in her eyes breaking causing the eye to turn red in that area. Dianne: There are some supplements that will strengthen the capillaries not only in the eyes, but throughout the entire body. Pycnogenol immediately comes to mind. Mega doses of a balanced Vitamin C will help, too. Lutein, Zeaxanthin and Asaxthan (spelling?) will also help strengthen the overall eye and vision. Most optometrists and opthalmologists cannot legally recommend these natural nutrients (thanks to the FDA corrupters...), but they are very helpful to the eyes. Of course good cod liver oil, vitamin A and Vitamin D are a necessity, too. Dianne: You're very welcome. keeping the capillaries flexible is also very important - they will not break once they have been supplemented for strength and flexibility. I use all of the supplements I recommended for the reasons i listed. This is not a ten day (antibiotic like treatment) program, but an ongoing daily supplementation to keep the eyes healthy. I've been using all of the supplements mentioned for many years - but that's only because I'm ancient... and I've grown accustomed to seeing well... ha... ha... ha John On Fri, Jan 8, 2010 at 11:15 AM, Dianne France dianne_fra...@hotmail.comwrote: Thank you John, I will forward your email to her. Dianne: If it's a sign of diabetes and she tests positive for diabetes, she'll need a good source of food grown GTF Chromium (Not Chromium Piclionate) to reverse the diabetes. Anyone wanting to know if they have diabetes can of course go to a doctor and get tested for $100 plus dollars. However many are not aware that they can buy a glucose tester for under $20 at places like Kroger and Walgreens and test themselves easily. Hi Dianne, One possible cause for this I have heard of is that this, in some cases, is a manifestation of Lyme disease. There are probably a few other reasons for this happening that others can chime in with. Vit C for strengthening blood vessel walls and also kelp or chlorella plus quercetin. My husband used to have this a lot but does not now I make him take these. Dianne...well on this subject I can speak on personally...I have had this happening to me for the past ten years. No pattern at all. I am a real health nut too and I am totally stumped on this one. I take every kind of supplement there is to take too. Let me know how her test's turn out. How old is she? Horse Chestnut, and Bilberry will help strengthen the capillaries, veins and arteries, everywhere in the body. Horse Chestnut can help prevent; hemorrhoids, spider veins, and varicose veins, as well. And tell her to get her doctor to check her zinc levels, low zinc can cause more fragile blood vessels. The great majority of people who have died from aneurysms have been found to be low on zinc. Be aware though, that if you supplement zinc, you may have to supplement copper and magnesium as well to keep them balanced. I take Horse Chestnut, Bilberry and zinc, for varicose veins myself. Works great. I don't have them anymore:) Annie If we could sell our experiences for what they cost us, we'd all be millionaires.
