Peter,

In the event you don't know, and for others who would like to know it
is an added column in the messages received window.

In the messages received window there is a title bar that by default
shows the Subject, Sender, etc. To the far right of that title bar
there should be a tiny icon indicating more selections, mine is a
downward arrow. If you click that icon you will see a host of
additional columns you can add to the title bar, including "message
and attachment" size.

Rather than add more to the closed bug report; I tested with no issues
(other than the standard SM print issues):

1. Ubuntu 8.10 to networked 8.04 w/usb attached Canon MP750.
2. Ubuntu 8.04 to networked 8.10 w/usb attached Canon MP750.
3. Ubuntu 8.04 to wireless 8.04 w/usb attached Canon MP750.

All connections are cups ipp connections via port 631. Tested using SM
1.1.14, 1.1.15, 2.0a3, FireFox 3.0.7.

I agree with Robert; you have other issues regarding your printing
rather than SeaMonkey.

Can't you go to Edit -> Preferences -> Mail & Newsgroups -> Send Format
and adjust the settings there so your mail is sent in HTML format?

However, what are your recipients going to do when they can't (or aren't
willing to) accept HTML?

For example, I don't read e-mail in HTML format. If you were to send me
a message containing only HTML, I would delete it.

SM converts from HTML to Plain Text BADLY. Take my word for it.
Biggest problem is that paragraph breaks are reduced, eliminating
blank line between paragraphs. Text also sometimes wraps improperly
(Newlines appear in the middle of lines).

So i compose in HTML by default. I look at what I composed in HTML.
I like what I see (i.e., format is correct). and I hit SEND. Then I
go into my Sent folder, and look at what SM sent out, and it's
HORRIBLE! The paragraphs are all run-on to each other, lines are
randomly broken etc.

This is a BAD thing.

Yes, I could COMPOSE in plain text, but that is a less convenient
thing to do. I have to manually wrap my lines, and I can't use an
easy-to-read font (for composition).

All I'm asking for is a general setting (on the about: page) that
disables auto-conversion. I would ask to have the conversion fixed,
but that seems like more work and you guys work too hard already. How
hard is it to just SEND the HTML that was composed?

Thanks very much - looking forward to SM 2.0!

you just proved the point for the opposite: its better
to view and send in html

things happen. There's no rhyme nor reason to it.
Resize it to where you want it, close SM and reopen it.
Did that fix things? If not, then close SM, and
delete the file localstore.rdf from the SM profile.
Reopen SM, fix everything to your liking again, close

If you look at listed the dependencies in that bug you might spot that
Bug 299372 blocks Bug 426742 which is the SeaMonkey bug.

Gary, Many-thanks for that extensive-testing.
My profuse-apologies.. My bad!
Deleting system-install and installing /home/user/ was unsuccessful, but
BASH reported problems with the Lightning-extension.
Temporarily-uninstalling Lightning restored full demarcated
print-preview/printing to both PDF and ps (printer).
I assume Lightning will need to integrate with aBook/Contacts, for
appointments and notifications, etcetera.

Appreciated the assistance (and impetus). Barry.

There's more than one WinNT. I've used (at least) NT 3.51 and NT 4.0.
NT 3.51 looks a lot like Window 3.1 - no Start menu, for example.
NT 4.0 looks more like Win/95, win/98, etc. - has a Start menu.

gotcha!

Question: I've had this problem from time to time but its years since I
have had the problem:

In my list of news Servers there is one that get regenerated called
news

and email address is shown as User invalid. I've tried to figure out
what components in the Pref.js file to to delete. I've tried figuring
out using both a text editor or the built in config editor. And I tried
going to account wizard and killing the account named News.

I am using SM 1.1.14 but I've had this on going problem from time to
tie

every since the first version of Mozilla came out.

You would think after about 10 years some one would come up with a way
to prevent this from happening.

I'd like to fix. all it is annoying but. with My age and patience. I
can't abide annoyances.

Once this question is answered; I'll get off the list and leave it to
the PC only crowd.

Upgrade to SM 2.0.a3. ;)

I only say that, because that is the only thing that solved the same
problem for me.

I opened SeaMonkey one afternoon, and was greeted with the account
wizard. I clicked out of it, and my accounts were there, but there was
this bizarre rogue News account, exactly as you describe.

I removed the account using Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings, but it
reappeared the next time I started SeaMonkey.

I clsed SeaMonkey and removed the News folder in the, well News folder
of the profile. It came back as soon as I restarted. I combined the
two operations. It came back.

I am quite sure that the change to the alpha was what did it so much
as the fact that it creates a new profile. You could probably create a
new profile and migrate your data from the old to the new. I am quite
sure that would fix it, but I was going to test the alpha anyway, so
what the heck. Fortunately, 2.0 has progressed to the point that zI
can use it as a day to day browser and mail/news/rss client quite
comfortably.

The funny thing about the rogue account was that it was functional. I
could subscribe to groups and read them. However, When I cloised and
reopened, they would all be gone.

So I suggest three options;

1) Just live with it. It doesn't cause any problem, other then being
annoying.

2) Create a new profile, test to make sure its okay, then migrate your
data.

3) Try the alpha.

Option 1 might be the best course until 2.0 hits beta. There are still
some glitches, though I can attest that its going to be agreat product.

By the way, this funny News account only appeared on my gracefully
aging iMac G5. My Intel Macbook has been just fine.

Lee

This happened to me and I have 1.1.4--happened all the sudden just as
you state. I have removed it with remove account and have removed the
folder with Seamonkey closed and it just comes back the next time I
start Seamonkey. I have not changed version since I installed 1.1.4 when
it came out. It happened about a month ago. Weired

I'm assuming you meant 1.1.14. I'm almost glad to see that this has
affected a Windows user as well.

The "upgrade" suggestion was tongue in cheek, of course. Its good, very
good, but it is an alpha.

Take a look at Grant/Peter's suggestion to Phillip, concerning removing
the account, and editing pref.js. My suggestion of creating a new
profile and moving the data basically accomplishes the same thing, the
new profile has a new prefs.js. That should solve the issue.

lee

switching to a new profile would cure it but I have set ups for
secnews.netscape.com That I have to alter config items in order to get.
and annnexcafe in which you have to be authenticated. plus I have a
whole bunch of sub folders for my main mailbox. Plus a lot of cookie and
Bookmark settings would be lost. Would be the better part of couple of
days to get everything back.

In my case I'll have to try Peters method and once I get straightened
out I make a Duplicate copy and save else where.

just have to translate the differences in menu names/menus/and key combos.
