extracting domain names from password manager
I am preparing to retire an email address and will need to change them in all domains that are currently using that address. I am using the old password manager (chrome://passwordmgr/content/passwordManager.xul) and am easily able to locate these cases, but when I look at the popup menu I see only the username and password offered for copying. I want to copy these domains to a spreadsheet so I can address them in turn and mark them as fixed. How can I do so? Password Manager and Enigmail
I am running 64 bit SeaMonkey 2.49.4 on linux mint x64 18.3 (sylvia) with the Enigmail 2.0.9 installed. As I installed this back in early October, 2018 and have had no need to use it until a few days ago I have forgotten my pass phrase. The surprising thing is I can still use it and believe this is due to saving my pass phrase with Password Manager. When I select a message with encryption immediately after a restart I get a pop-up window requesting my pass phrase which has a check box to save it to Password Manager. As I have forgotten this I click cancel and there is a warning displayed about a missing pass phrase and the message is not opened. I can work around this by sending an encrypted message to anyone, including one of the available robots that will respond to them. After doing so all encrypted messages are accessible until the timeout. This behavior leads me to believe that when I installed Enigmail and sent some signed messages to those I hoped to communicate with that I was prompted for the pass phrase and clicked the save it to Password Manager button. My question is how can I retrieve the pass phrase from Password Manager so that I can enter it at the other prompt I am getting and save it there as well. I have looked and see nothing obvious there. What keywords would have been stored with the Enigmail pass phrase that I can search for to recover it? Firstly, I deleted an already saved item from the password manager, then went to the relevant site and logged in manually to see if SM offered to remember the details again. It did, so that aspect of things seems to be working correctly. Secondly, I looked in the SM help file to read up on the subject. There, it says that the Password Manager has two tabs, one saying "passwords saved" and the other saying "passwords never saved." However, when I click on Tools - Password Manager - Managed Stored Passwords", what I get is a window labelled "Data Manager." This is divided vertically into 2 resizable halves. The left is headed with a drop-down box where you can select All data Types, Cookies only, Permissions only, Preferences only, Passwords only, and Storage only. Below that is a search box labelled Search Domains, which appears to search All data types, which includes all the other categories. On the right half of the window, at the top, are 5 tabs labelled Cookies, Permissions, Preferences, Passwords, and Storage. These are greyed out, but one or the other will go live when an item is clicked on in one of the afore-mentioned categories that can have their contents listed over in the left half. Once a web site address in the Passwords category on the left is clicked on, the passwords tab on the right goes live and two buttons labelled Show Passwords and Remove appear along with the now displayed URL and Username. The point of this long description is that nowhere in the window are the tabs saying "passwords saved" and "passwords never saved" which the Help file states should be there. Why not? The absence of the "passwords never saved" tab meant that I couldn't check the contents to see if I had, in fact, accidentally instructed SM to never save the password as the organization's help desk suggested. Bottom line seems to be that either the SM Help file is out of date due to some changes to the SM GUI, or there is something wrong with SM. Any suggestions would be welcome, because SM saves all my other passwords as it should, and I think it is the website that is at fault - I hope to convince them of that. ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

Re: Password Manager Quick Question - SM 2.49.1 W10 Pro
David - are others having this issue as well? Sounds like for the OP and myself (I am on Win7 not Win10) The built in password manager broke on the 2.49 update. I can go to the password manager and they are all still there, but the auto complete is broken. Does the OP also find the passwords are still in the manage stored passwords interface just not auto completing? On 11/11/2017 12:38 PM, Paul B. Gallagher wrote: David E. Doesn't really address the OP's question. He's concerned by several posts we've seen here about SM forgetting passwords after recent upgrades. I, too, would be greatly inconvenienced if SM forgot all those nuisance logins that I entrust to it. As much as I trust SeaMonkey, I still use a lengthy pass-phrase (not merely a password) as my master password. I also periodically change the individual passwords for the Web sites of my financial accounts and certain other critical Web sites. As a policy, I don't save logins and passwords for financial institutions in SM or anywhere else my computer. However, in a separate file with a nonobvious name and location, I do save fragments or clues to those logins and passwords along with a slew of other unrelated data. So for a simple example (this isn't a real case), for one of my banks I may save the fragment "Yankees," which reminds me to add the fragment "rule!!" when I enter it in the website. For another example (again, not a real case), I may save "hIOdnV7QT9A_aJvHnZ2dnUU7" (I grabbed this just now from your message id) and remember that the login is "hIOdnV7QT9A" (the first part) and the password is "_aJvHnZ2dnUU7" (the second part). Nothing in the file mentions the institutions or their websites, so it's not obvious to anyone else which parts of the mass of data go with what. And since what is there is incomplete (the rest being saved in wetware), cracking it won't help without the other part. There are many ways of saving useful reminders (not complete logins or passwords) without assuming unreasonable risks. ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

Password Manager problem
I am running V2.46 in Win 10 in three computers at my desk. My primary computer won't get mail from my gmail account, it says it connects to pop.gmail.com, then it does nothing. The other computers get gmail fine from the same gmail account. I suspect it is a problem with Password Manager. When I go to Tools: Password Manager: Manage Stored Passwords in this computer it is not responsive like on the other computers, and after a while it says "Warning: Unresponsive script: A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, open the script in the debugger, or let the script continue. Script: chrome://communicator/content/dataman/dataman.js:779". The Passwords button displays the entire password database all at once. Note, however, the Passwords button requires the user to enter the master password merely to display the domains and user IDs. The master password must be entered a second time to display the actual passwords. With only user IDs displayed, the Passwords button allows the user to change a selected user ID. With passwords also displayed, the Passwords buttonallows the user to change a selected user password. I cannot find a Data Manager capability for such editing. Re: [webappsstore.sqlite files ] Re: Password manager crashes SeaMonkey
Usually this is used by websites to store offsite data. Sometimes also something called supercookies just used to track you. Under preferences-> Advanced->Offline Web Application you should see if something is stored. That can undermine you privacy pretty fast so I usually have it disabled. You usually can delete the file. Any needed data will be stored again. If unsure move it out of the profile and only restore it if you experience problems. Re: Password Manager improvement request
It's likely bad entries in the permissions database. The migration of them in 2.39 and 2.40 sometimes didn't work well. You can also currently kill the Data Manager by adding a permission for an about: page or a similar uri. And if you do not have a default dictionary entry the passworts won't work either. The later one is already fixed in 2.41+ but the Data Manager changes have not been checked in yet. Anway. I would suggest useing a a new profile after 2.38. So much junk got migrated. Even with the fixed Data Manager I junked mine and never looked back. Cleared a few problems. I will ask mailmanager Best Regards Rainer Bielefeld I think any bounce messages from subscriber addresses (e.g. if an address doesn't exist, or mailbox is full, etc.) go to that address, instead of to the original sender. The list manager might just ignore such messages, or some mailing lists I've seen automatically unsubscribe addresses which continually bounce for more than a certain time. The copy of a message sent to you has the address you mention in its headers. If it couldn't be delivered for some reason, your mail server (or an intermediate server if it didn't even get that far) would send a message to that address describing the problem. The list software can then deal with the problem, without bothering the original sender who probably doesn't want to be bothered with a whole pile of delivery failure messages every time they post to the list. I created a test profile where I installed the Last Password extension. From only a brief test, I get a strong impression that it saves my passwords externally, on some remote server. Is this true? That is definitely NOT what anyone should want. Even if I encrypt my passwords using Password Manager's master password, I still want to restrict the storage of my passwords to my own PC. Re: SeaMonkey and Password Manager
David E. Ross wrote: Acting on a suggestion in an earlier thread in this newsgroup (or was it in the mozilla.general newsgroup?), I installed SeaMonkey 2.32.1, removed the Remember Passwords 1.1 extension, and installed the Saved Password Editor 2.8.2 extension. I then found that my master password was no longer being requested, and automatic filling in user IDs and passwords no longer occurred. Since recent firefox and seamonkey now ignore the autocomplete=off on password input fields you can just use SeaMonkey 2.32.1 without such an extension. Triggering the username/password auto-fill is a bit clumsy though as it does not always just work. Clicking the password field before double-clicking the username field seems to always work. Did not have the time to do in-depth tests for a bug report yet.
