Can anyone interpret the line and confirm that? Does the Test Filters function also indicate this? Interesting thought. Yes it does. If the popfile classification indicates that the mail is in the correct folder, running the filter on that message executes the filter three times. Then I carried out Miguel's suggestion of removing the move action and seeing how many times it filtered. The filter (with no action specified) executed FOUR times. The effect was the same running the Test Filters function and running the Re-filter function. I added the move action back in, and now the filter runs FIVE times. Again the same for both Test Filters and Re-filter. So then I removed the move action again. Now the filter runs SIX times. Add the move action back in - it runs SEVEN times. I think I can see a pattern here!! This (and another couple of similar) filter moves emails to the inbox of the account that is relevant to the content rather than the recipient address (i.e work to my work account, personal to my personal account no matter which address it was sent to). So the solution to my problem is to simply make sure the common filter does not apply to the account that will ultimately receive the email. Why didn't I think of that before. However, it still seems like a bug to me. -- Robin Using The Bat! v3.0.1.33 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 2 Current version is 3.5.25 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

And, indeed, I want to keep the same filters, but don't want two folders for say, The Bat mail. There should be only one TBUDL folder with mail from both the old and new accounts that is TBUDL mail going into one and the same folder during the period of overlapping accounts. The you should filter into the folders of your other (old) account, and... However, MFPA suggests that if I filter mail coming in to the new account into the old folders, replies to mail that comes in through the new account server will appear to come from the old account. ...you can fix the FROM address another way. My suggestion would be that you create an addressbook template (either for single addresses or for an entire address book group) where you set the account and FROM address to use for outgoing messages in a template, using a macro combination of... %ACCOUNT=[EMAIL PROTECTED]%- %FROM=%- %FROM=Avi [EMAIL PROTECTED]%- The first one sets the account to use, the second clears the old FROM field, and the thing one sets the new FROM field. The trailing %- behind the macros only make sure that no extra empty lines are inserted. One thing remains, you need to transfer the filters from your old account to the new one. Depending on how many filters you have, you can either Copy and Paste them one by one from the sorting office of the old account to the sorting office of the new account - or, if you have many many filters, you Copy them from the old account (one by one) and Paste them into a single textfile (in Notepad or somewhere), then you Copy the entire textfile and Paste it into the sorting office of the new account (in one go). I hope my memory serves me right with the filter copying, someone please correct me if I'm wrong. -- Best regards, Alexander (http://www.neurowerx.de - ICQ 238153981) The development of Hydro-electric power in the desert of North America awaits only the introduction of water. -- Statement in Nuclear News Current version is 3.5.25 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

But they don't when the message has multiple recipients, as an example, you write a message to Marck and you BCC it to Leif and me, as the three of us live under different ISP's, your ISP will send it to three different servers. When we check the received headers, we'll find that the Received: header inserted by your provider has no destination included, whereas the receiving servers did include the recipient. Now you send your next message to Marck, but this time you BCC his wife. setting up preferences for gmail; missing e-mail
If anyone on the list uses g-mail, I would appreciate some assistance in setting up a g-mail account on The Bat. I have been successful in setting up my private domain accounts, however, I now also have a g-mail account. For some reason, the Connection Center window hangs open and won't download a test message that was sent and is sitting on the gmail server. Is this a function of my not properly setting up the account on The Bat, or could it also be a function of my firewall (Outpost Agnitum). G-mail requires two ports that are different from the usual ones. Do I need to open them in my firewall first? If you use g-mail AND have Outpost, I would be particularly interested in hearing from you. Also, because I receive list mail both at home and at the office, I have just discovered that I have not been receiving a large number of postings to the list at home, where I use The Bat. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening? This seems to happen with greater frequency with postings from certain sources. However, not ALL of the mail from any one source is appears to be missing. I am hoping that this is a function of the ISP's mail server and not of my pc or software. However, until I can get the g-mail account to work properly for downloading e-mail to my pc, I can't know for sure. PS. Because I don't receive all list mail at home, it would be much appreciated if replies could ALSO be copied to my home e-mail address, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thanks. -- Avi Avram Sacks Chicago, IL using The Bat ver. 1.62r on Windows XP professional Current version is 3.5.25 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

The penny has finally dropped for me with that one, too. Do you have that option with the software you use at work(and is it set correctly)? If not, messages you download at work will be deleted and this will mean some messages not being downloaded at home. PS. Honestly, go with hotpop. www.hotpop.com. They might put a tag line in your messages and they might not. When I first signed up I had a few tag lines but then, they disappeared. Another really nice online service to check out which is free and which stated will be offering pop service in the future is www.inbox.com. This clearly knocks Gmail out the box and when it reaches pop status, Google is going to lose a lot of people... Anyhow, leave Gmail alone... 2GB sounds good if you love headaches. It's also good if you're prepared to change the standard email procedure into something you'll only ever find in Gmail... I rate Gmail 1/5. -- Best regards, Victor B. So I guess I need to make a backup of my files, uninstall TB and reinstall with OTFE and then import my backup. Is this the correct steps to take? Can someone please supply me with a comprehensive checklist of the process so that (as I am prone to do) I do not miss anything? From memory (and I am on v3) what you need to do is go into Options - Preferences - System and change the mail directory. Then if you have set up individual accounts in non-standard locations (in v3 that is in Account - Properties - Files Directories) you may need to adjust those. I am fairly sure that TB! will actually move all your data files and message bases for you then. -- Robin Using The Bat! v3.0.1.33 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 2 Current version is 3.5.25 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
