Replace text macro
Quick question.. is it possible to do the following: After replying to a message, my template puts the original date in a header line (On day month year, so-and-so wrote:...) Now I would like to translate this date from English into another language, so change for example 'Monday' into 'Lundi', Tuesday into Mardi' and so on, same with the months of the year. This sort of thing happens when there's something wrong with the backup. It would appear that the backup process just backs things up without checking validity of some things like the paths. However, the restore process has to do this. The first time I tried to restore a backup to a new installation on a new computer, it wouldn't run. It turns out that the path to the attachments folder in one of my accounts was pointing to a drive that didn't exist on the old or new system. Since I was keeping attachments in message bodies, the setting wasn't really affecting the functioning of the old installation. However, the restore process wouldn't work! It took me a while to figure out the problem. So I'd suggest that you go through the old installation and look for any problems that may be there, like incorrect paths, bad templates etc. If not, then you'll have to manually move the installation across and then upgrade it. - -- -=Allie C Martin=- List Moderator | TB! v1.61 | Windows XP Pro PGP/GPG Public Key: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?Subject=2B0717E2 _ -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- iEYEARECAAYFAj0ys54ACgkQV8nrYCsHF+KmTACg+d/hajw01uUokc7xoBWmQynY FaEAoJFxBwQ/Tq5gUKl9tiiY5jzCuyyR =BHwE -END PGP SIGNATURE- Current Ver: 1.61 FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Bug Reports: https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/

It was suppose to be ok. The problem was intermittent. Did everything SW company/support engineer told me. I was on CIS forum and somebody had the sure solution. It didn't work. It has clearly been documented by others that installation of both versions of SW can work WITHOUT problems. I began to realize the possibility of hardware being part of the mix of the problem. Hi Jonathan. Thanks for your reply. At 10:13 AM on Monday, July 15, 2002 you [JA] wrote the following about [retreiving an email address]: I'm composing a post to someone I want to include someone else's email address in the post for their reference. JA Maybe you can use a quick template to do it, I am not JA entirely sure how, I've not really explored the full JA power, but it may be possible to use a QT to search, and JA retrieve the values... The only thing I've found that seemed relevant is using the ABnnnPPP macro to identify the email address but that's it. OT: Antivirus software review
I know this is OT, so I will be brief. Currently I am using eTrust EZ antivirus program (formerly Inoculate Personal edition) from Computer Associates International or CAI. It is not free, but reasonable priced. It is time for the yearly renewal. I wonder if I should renew or choose something better? It doesn't have the plug-in to BAT, although I am not sure what this would do other than I am getting now. (I cannot open infected attachments). Is there a reliable review of the antivirus softwares somewhere, or is there a more or less consensus of BAT users? I came across, but did not use: AVP from Grisoft, Karpensky-s Lite (the regular is rather expensive), NOD32 (mid-priced) and Norton/Mack. Used F-prot in DOS times. Thank you in advance and sorry for the OT, but hopefully the moderator won't mind since it is a general interest topics. -- Best regards, Peter Toronto, Canada Using The Bat! v1.61 on Windows 98 4.10 Build 1998 An economist is an expert who will know tomorrow why the things he predicted yesterday didn't happened today. by Laurence J. Re[2]: Command String query
Hello Marck, I'll try and explain my system to make things clearer. My ISP hosts three domains for me and all go through a master email portal called [EMAIL PROTECTED] I have called the master account on The Bat! EmailServer and all posts go to that and are then filtered into the three main domains and then sub-filtered into sub-folders. All this works great. SpamKiller recognises The Bat! as my default email client and provides two options. One is run email program and the second is run this program and it is here that I am trying to put the command string. The command string I have after all the help is: C:\Program Files\The Bat!\thebat.exe / CHECKEmailServer If The Bat! is not loaded then this will kick start it, but it will not run a retrieve pass and an earlier attempt with CHECKEmailServer also failed to run. Re: Cannot restore in newly installed version
I believe the directory structure has changed since the 1.5x days. It's been a while since I converted, so my memory is kind of hazy about this, but on my system the default master directory is a directory called MAIL inside the directory where the executable file lives. Your account directories should be inside that directory. If they're somewhere else, move them in there. You can check and configure the mail folder directories by going to Account | Properties | Files and directories | Home directory. You'll need to do this for each account. -Mark Wieder Using The Bat! v1.60h on Windows 2000 5.0 Build 2195 Service Pack 2 Current Ver: 1.61 FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Bug Reports: https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/

You also need to export the registry key: HKey_Current_User/Software/RIT to file and then import the same file to the registry of your new machine. Now this is the important part so DO NOT start TB! unless you've sorted this part out : The registry key you imported will contain all the previous installations settings i.e., window sizes and interface settings. More importantly, the paths to the installation directory and the working mail folders are within the registry key you exported itself. If you've moved copied the original installation to the same path/location as in the old location then you'll be fine. However, if you've copied to a new location then you'll need to change this in the registry settings which are easily readable and understandable. You can do the changes by opening the exported key in an editor and making the changes, or importing the key in the registry and then changing the corresponding entries and their values. These are under HKey_Current_User/Software/RIT/The Bat! Just go through and check any path that you see there. If it's different just change it to what it should be. If the mail folder is not in the default location, you'll have to make the necessary changes in HKey_Current_User/Software/RIT/The Bat!/Users Depot Only when you're finished do you start TB! on the new system. When done, you can now upgrade to the later version. Watch out though since there seems to be a problem with the original installation as evidenced by the backup not restoring as it should. So backup! :-) Good luck and don't hesitate to ask for clarifying information. - -- -=Allie C Martin=- List Moderator | TB! v1.61 | Windows XP Pro PGP/GPG Public Key: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?Subject=2B0717E2 _ -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- iEYEARECAAYFAj0zEQEACgkQV8nrYCsHF+IC3QCgirqkntqrKRCux85uvfCl29T6 HukAoJZ50h2VyaU8w8GaFMStUv3FwjO4 =IFHC -END PGP SIGNATURE- Current Ver: 1.61 FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Bug Reports: https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/

TheBat-users, OK, when I first started out with the TheBat (hmm, stammering?) editor I thought it was awful. Now I love it and would like it to be available as the external editor for my news reader (XNews). One thing is bugging me, though. This makes no sense as the user specifically sets a word wrap at character XX. If I reply to this mail (the original sender is in the To-field and the mailing list address is in the CC-field), the reply is formatted with the personal template and not the list template. How can I avoid this? Folder templates is one idea, QTs is another. PF editor I thought it was awful. Now I love it and would like it to PF be available as the external editor for my news reader (XNews). With 'AIMKeys' or a similar Macro building tool that can invoke a hotkey (unfortunately PowerPro will not execute hotkeys while running a macro) you could possibly do this. I was doing it when I used to read newsgroups. I created an AIMKeys macro that would cut and paste the contents of the reply message editor of Agent, into a TB! new message window. This first macro would be invoked with a single hotkey. I'd edit the message and then copy and paste the contents back into the Agent editor window. The macro would close the TB! editor window as well and then send then post the message, all in one rapid sequence after hitting the macros hot-key. Agent's keyboard shortcuts allowed me to do this. I don't know about X-News. I had it working beautifully. If you post a lot in newsgroups and really wish for the consistency of the same editors, then investing in AIMKeys may be worth your while. You could then use AIMKeys to automate other stuff for you and remap some of the keystrokes in TB! to make it behave more like X-News and the reverse. See http://www.aimsoft.com/aimkeys/ PF One thing is bugging me, though. If I move the cursor to the right PF via the right arrow, it does not word wrap at the end of the PF line (i.e. moves to the next line). That's courtesy of the free caret interface. You can move the cursor to any point in the editor and start typing. The wrapping will occur only while typing characters. PF This makes no sense as the user specifically sets a word wrap at PF character XX. I agree that quoted/pasted material should be left PF as is but in this one instance, I'd really like that the cursor PF wraps. I'm using MailTraq4Free (though I'll probably buy a basic license shortly). http://www.mailtraq.com I can't remember who recommended this software for the news-to-email gateway, but my life has been heaven ever since. :) Now, I've got MailTraq pulling *all* of my email and newsgroups into itself, and MailTraq has a plugin for AVG, so both my email and newsgroup messages get checked for viruses. Also, since MailTraq has a pluggable architecture, I'm currently on the hunt for something I can tie into for spam killing...I'm considering working on porting SpamAssassin and hooking it in as a plugin to MailTraq. I contacted DeerSoft (who makes a version of SpamAssassin for Windows), but they weren't interested in doing this at this time, so I'm seriously considering taking it up myself (I'll have to brush up on my Perl, though). :) Needless to say, I *highly* recommend this combination for your email/news/antivirus needs. - Sean T. mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Using The Bat! v1.60q on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Current Ver: 1.61 FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Bug Reports: https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/
