[Bug 964784] [NEW] Wrong links regarding 32/64 bit downloads of Qt SDK ZIP files from Nokia in kubuntu-docs-development
Public bug reported: I have found (at least) two errors in the original translatable english string 145 in the template kubuntu-docs-development (part of kubuntu- docs) [0]. The links inside this string point to a 32 and 64 bit version of the Qt SDK download from the Nokia website. But the links are wrong! [Bug 259371] Re: [needs-packaging] Smartcam
Hi Michael Gorven, Stefan Zerkalica (I subscribed you to this wishlist/bug), deion, Ruben Romero and everybody else! I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 (MAVERICK) 64 BIT (with kernel 2.6.35-31-generic # 63-Ubuntu now) and since more than 8 months I'm trying to get smartcam working. In the meantime I was able to build the smartcam kernel driver (with lots and lots of patching) and also loading it into the kernel but I can NOT COMPILE the SMARTCAM APPLICATION (see: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detailaid=3463579group_id=197856atid=963142 ). So I tried smartcam_1.4.0-4_amd64.deb from STEFAN Zerkalica's PPA ( https://launchpad.net/~zerkalica/+archive/smartcam ) and it doesn't complain during installation but trying to run the smartcam app fails with a crash (segmentation fault/SEGFAULT): *** smartcam: registered DBUS service org.gnome.smartcam Found smartcam device file: /dev/video1 smartcam: started comm thread smartcam: port = 1 Speicherzugriffsfehler *** Then I thought maybe it doesn't work with my self-built smartcam kernel driver but needs the corresponding smartcam driver (1.4.0-4) from the same ppa - but this package seems to be build against kernel 2.6.35-25-generic (and not 2.6.35-31, which is the current one for Maverick 64 bit). Of course I stopped there and did not install the older kernel. The Speicherzugriffsfehler (segmentation fault) could be coming from a bug in the smartcam code that relates to Bluetooth either not being available (I don't have Bluetooth!), see patch http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detailaid=2893361group_id=197856atid=963144 … or to the Bluetooth device enumeration issue/bug in DynamicBtBind() causing always listen on port 1, see patch http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detailaid=3096560group_id=197856atid=963144 … I don't know. * Regarding the Bluetooth not being available issue, Michael Gorven (~mgorven) provided the before mentioned first patch, but he didn't package smartcam for Maverick 64 bit. * Regarding the bug in DynamicBtBind() causing always listen on port 1 issue, leniviytorrent provided the before mentioned second patch. * Regarding the packaging for Maverick 64 bit, I think Stefan Zerkalica (~zerkalica) could do the trick! Would you people be so kind to work together, if possible or STEFAN or ANYBODY, would you like to INCLUDE these PATCHES and build a working Ubuntu Maverick 64 bit PACKAGE against KERNEL 2.6.35-31-generic # 63-Ubuntu (and maybe even for newer Ubuntu releases, too)? Or what is the point I'm missing here? Thank you very very much in advance, Kind Regards, Dennis (~thecondordb) PS: In the end, I'd like to get SmartCam working for 3rd party programs like Skype, Cheese etc. on Maverick 64 bit, fetching the video stream by WiFi from my Motorola Milestone with Android 2.2.1, where the smartcam app (.apk from Android Market) already work flawlessly - but streams only to my web browser at the moment. PPS: The package description as well as the ReadMe.txt of SmartCam could be updated to mention Android and WiFi etc, too, and not only Symbian and Bluetooth, am I correct? PPPS: Please excuse me writing partially in caps - I did this for visibility purposes only - no offense - no shouting :) ** Bug watch added: SourceForge.net Tracker #3463579 http://sourceforge.net/support/tracker.php?aid=3463579 ** Bug watch added: SourceForge.net Tracker #2893361 http://sourceforge.net/support/tracker.php?aid=2893361 ** Bug watch added: SourceForge.net Tracker #3096560 http://sourceforge.net/support/tracker.php?aid=3096560 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/259371 Title: [needs-packaging] Smartcam To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/259371/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 712974] Re: Impossible to properly translate ubiquity due to usage of $medium variable
We, the German translators, have done the same as Milo did. It's just a workaround. We have translated the string as if it was written in this way: You can try ${RELEASE} directly from this storage medium (${MEDIUM}), without making any changes to your computer. Sie können ${RELEASE} direkt von diesem Speichermedium (${MEDIUM}) ausprobieren, ohne dass etwas an Ihrem Rechner verändert wird. I'd like to see this string split into two strings (one for USB and one for CD-ROM), too. [Bug 553423] Re: Untranslated string in Brasero's indicator menu, albeit it's translated in Launchpad
I just tested it in Maverick (fully updated) and with a German localization. While burning a DVD with Brasero, the indicator menu of Brasero showed up fully translated – for the burn process as well as for the verify process. Please see the attached screenshot. However, you'll notice that the message ist so freakin' dark, that it can hardly be read. Therefore I filed a new bug regarding the color of the message in the indicator menu of Brasero: Bug 760975 [1]. Summary: The problem does NOT exist in Maverick with a German localization. [Bug 729631] Re: Date label on the indicator is partially untranslated
Hi! I'm from the German translation team. It does NOT seem to be fixed. In a fully updated Natty inside VirtualBox I have very similar problems with indicator-datetime too. It appears to be 'half way' translated though gettext displays the strings from launchpad translations correctly. And also: the date time settings dialog can not be opened - nothing happens. I assume, it's crashing. I checked the strings in launchpad [1]. They should be correct. Something strange ist happening with indicator-datetime. And why can't I open the date time settings dialog? [Bug 729631] Re: Date label on the indicator is partially untranslated
I'm not quite sure at the moment, if I was correct in my last comment. Maybe the bug is not fixed, maybe it is. I've made some minor adjustments regarding these date and time strings [1] [2] as a test but also with best intentions. As soon as these new strings are released in the Natty Beta, I'll check the displayed date and time combinations again and I'll then report back here. By the way … the date time settings dialog can be opened again. Additionally to the strangenesses mentioned before, I wonder why this dialog doesnt appear translated (in German) though these strings for the dialog were already translated a while ago. [Bug 729631] Re: Date label on the indicator is partially untranslated
Hi! I've just updated Natty Beta and was trying to test the date and time displayed in the panel. Now – the German translation seem to be released (because I can see a change, that we, German translators made in the relevant strings [1] [2]) but real testing can NOT be done because the date time settings dialog can NOT be opened – again. So at the moment, I can only 'test' the standard display method, that is the combination of weekday and time. By the way, I think I have figured out, *how* these date and time strings [1] [2] are meant to be used. The date/time displayed in the panel is a combination of two parts, the date part and the time part. These parts are put together by a special string like this: %s %s (see string number 19 [3]). Because Germans like the date and time to be separated by a comma, we put the comma in this string number 19, which - as it turns out - was good! But sadly we made some appending commas to the strings that are relevant for the date part, too. So that causes two commas to be displayed there, now. However that is a translation bug, that I'm going to fix now. I'd like YOU to fix the problem with the non-launchable date/time settings dialog - therefore I'll open a new bug for that issue, now. However I realise that not everybody seems to be affected by this. [Bug 751175] Re: Time and Date Settings don't load (Natty Beta 1)
I can confirm the date/time settings dialog not to be opening with all updates installed as of now (in Ubuntu Natty Beta 2!). It seems to opening some days, some other days not. Some users are affected, some are not. See also comments on bug 729631 [1]. I'm using: - Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty) Beta 2 (32-.Bit) with Kernel 2.6.38-8-generic # 42 - Unity 2D - indicator-datetime 0.2.2-0ubuntu1 … inside VirtualBox as a guest system. The dialog doesn't appear either, when entering »indicator-datetime- preferences« in a terminal window. After waiting for many seconds/some minutes, following output is printed - or nothing happens at all: (indicator-datetime-preferences:1807): Unique-DBus-WARNING **: Error while sending message: Did not receive a reply. Possible cause include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken. Restarting Ubuntu in the virtual machine did not help. Thanks for fixing this in time! [Bug 743956] [NEW] Incorrect icon dimension of '22x22/sensors-applet-gpu.png'
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: hicolor-icon-theme I'm using the Sensors applet with multiple sensors and icons, including the GPU icon. I noticed a minor cosmetic irregularity of the composed image of the GPU sensor's temperatur indicator (the colored meter/gauge) and the GPU icon from: '/usr/share/icons/hicolor/22x22/devices/sensors-applet-gpu.png'. On my system, Ubuntu 10.10 with GNOME and 'Ambiance with Ubuntu-mono- dark symbols' as the theme, that file has incorrect image dimensions (24x24 pixels). It should be 22x22 pixels in size! This causes the temperature indicator/meter/gauge to be displayed slightly offset to the top – in respect to the vertical alignment of the meters on the other sensor's icons. After I manually repaired the icon '/usr/share/icons/hicolor/22x22/devices/sensors-applet-gpu.png' with GIMP, I executed 'sudo gtk-update-icon-cache -f -t /usr/share/icons/hicolor' and switched the GPU sensor's icon in the Sensors applet to another icon and back again. Now, all temperature indicators (meters/gauges) on the sensor's icons, including the one for the GPU sensor, are perfectly aligned vertically. I have an Intel Celeron 1800 MHz, 768 Mb RAM and an Asus AGP-VGA with nVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400 GPU (32 Mb Video RAM). Just installed Ubuntu 11.04 (32 Bit) without problems but Unity is not working. [Bug 654079] Re: [Lucid] Nautilus popup text uses wrong grammar
I've just changed this Nautilus string No. 1382 from: »Nautilus kann diese Art von Orten nicht verwendet werden.« To: »Die Datei oder der Ordner ist nicht vorhanden. Bitte überprüfen Sie den Pfad.« And I »reviewed« it by myself. The link provided in my comment No. 4 will not work any more. This is the new link [1] to find it in the translations. If nobody complains about this new string that I put in and reviewed by myself, I will send an email upstream to notify the GNOME translators [2] about that after a few days. [Bug 391578] Re: Evolution does not mark IMAP mail read until exit
This affects me too. - Linux 2.6.35-24-generic Nr.42-Ubuntu - Ubuntu 10.10, 64-Bit - Evolution 2.30.3 I'm using an IMAP email account. The IMAP server tends to create quite long timeouts and Evolution randomly seems to loose the connection. Maybe that is what causes my emails to magically appear unread though I explicitly marked them as read – multiple times. It's annoying. Could Evolution be more patient please with slow IMAP servers so my IMAP folders stay synched! - Other email clients can handle this. Thanks for taking care of this issue (that was discovered in 2005 first, I think – but it is not really solved yet). I stumbled upon the same thing that was reported by Reuben Thomas on 08/01/2009. Therefore I changed the status of this bug to »confirmed« now. The garbled/odd characters in the English package description [1] of »etoys« are visible in the translation template »ddtp-ubuntu-multiverse« (e.g. for Natty) in Launchpad: This is the Squeak image developed for the OLPC project. Though, interestingly, these characters () do NOT show up on … a) Ubuntu Linux 10.10 64-Bit (Kernel 2.6.35-25-generic 44-Ubuntu SMP …) - When using the Ubuntu Software Center - When using Synaptic - When using »sudo apt-cache show etoys« b) Ubuntu Linux 11.04 alpha 32-Bit (Kernel 2.6.38-5-generic 32-Ubuntu SMP …) - When using the Ubuntu Software Center - When using Synaptic - When using »sudo apt-cache show etoys« Is it possible that this is a bug ONLY related to some problems during a translation import (upload) to Launchpad? [Bug 654079] Re: [Lucid] Nautilus popup text uses wrong grammar
Hi Sam, I can confirm that the German translation for this string has a grammar issue and needs to be fixed. Additionally the message is fuzzy. This dialog obviously appears if the user tries to open a location that does not exist and if the location that was entered has no colon in it. I checked this string number 1382 in the Nautilus source package [1] for Maverick and made a suggestion for a better translation, see below: English: »Nautilus cannot handle this kind of location.« Current German translation: »Nautilus kann diese Art von Orten nicht verwendet werden.« My current suggestion: »Dieser Ort existiert nicht oder kann nicht verwendet werden.« Would be a good idea to have it reviewed by at least someone else from the translation team. [Bug 400485] Re: Empathy sounds not in default ubuntu theme
Hi! This bug affects me too and is annoying! The bug still exists in the current Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Beta. Given the fact that Empathy is the new horse to bet on (installed by default) and Empathy doesn't even have the possibility to be configured in a way that received messages make a window pop up, this »no-sound-by-default- bug« makes it even worse! The only way to be informed about new messages waiting in Empathy is the message indicator icon in the Gnome panel on the top. That icon didn't even have some color in the default theme shipped with Ubuntu up to 10.04 Lucid – but was simply colored »in another gray« (but I may remember wrongly). Now – with 10.10 Maverick beta and that theme currently shipped by default – the icon switches to a green colored one, indicating new messages (in Empathy) at last. Please think about it … Thank You and Regards, Dennis Baudys PS: I nominated this bug for being fixed (a good .oga file copied to the correct location and renamed to .ogg or what else – maybe even a fix for, or some default sound shipped with Empathy?) for the Maverick release. -- Empathy sounds not in default ubuntu theme https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/400485 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This bug is not about the installer sometimes crashing but about the messages that are displayed in the wrong language: »Installer crashed« »We''re sorry; …« I'm from the Ubuntu German Translators team and I've checked these two messages in Launchpad; they are translated. Why doesn't the installer display them in German, though »German« language was selected during the installation? Please see the attached screen shots (credits for those screen shots and for originally reporting this issue go to Hendrik Knackstedt [2] ;-) Thank You in advance for some insight to that and maybe fixing this. [Bug 1027612] Re: german translation cuts messages
The LiVES translation in Launchpad [1] seems to be outdated/unused (at least for the German language: 2116 untranslated strings). I can't find the string »Eine unzul…« shown in the screenshot. Anyway this issue looks like an i18n problem within LiVES itself. The project is maintained by Salsaman [2] at Sourceforge [3]. LiVES bugs are maintained there [4]. If agreed, we should rise the issue in the SourceForge bug tracker or contact Salsaman. Any other ideas? [Bug 959276] Re: Scrolling message in preview breaks rendering
I can definitively confirm this problem with the rendering problem of the message preview pane in evolution: No message preview content at all when selecting an email - or an old message is displayed or visual glitches like described above. Long multipart and HTML messages seem to trigger it in a reproducable way. I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 64-Bit with kernel 3.2.0-32-generic # 51-Ubuntu SMP Wed Sep 26 21:33:09 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux and evolution 3.2.3-0ubuntu6. Unity (3D) with compiz and NVIDIA most recent drivers. The workaround of starting evolution with LIBOVERLAY_SCROLLBAR=0 evolution WORKS FINE for me, too! So it really looks like the Unity overlay scrollbars are a BIG problem for evolution that should be fixed.
