Re: Voicebook VO 1.03 Now In App Store
Can us non-buyers still override our existing one and give it a whirl? Better still, can I use one of my other devices and load it without it getting sniffy about my having it on another elsewhere? This release sees the fixing of the nasty bug preventing people from purchasing the upgrade, adds better error reporting, and now allows you to follow links to view photos and vidios. Just a teaser, I'm working on some fairly substantial new stuff. Stay tuned... For those of you unfamiliar with Voicebook VO, check it out. Re: Basic music question
Hi Jef I#m by no means an expert myself but that's how I did it. Put all the stuff you want on your iphone in one folder. Open itunes. Chances are you'll be on music in the tree with you cursor otherwise go there. press alt-f for the file menu. Go down to add folder to library. The standard dialogue opens and you can add the prepared foulder. Afterwards go to your iphone in the tree. Re: Difficulty with Activating Links in an iBooks Book
David, Yes it does bring focus, but also crashes VO. Of course pressing the router button should perform the action which is to take you to that location where the link points. Bringing up a menu would sort of defeat the purpose. If the link took you to an external site that would make sense, but in this case these are links that are internal to the book itself and take you to a specific page, chapter, etc. So, maybe all this will be addressed in iOS 6. :) On Sep 11, 2012, at 6:17 PM, David Chittenden dchitten...@gmail.com wrote: Hello, Find the link with your braille display and press one of the router buttons under it to get VO highlighted on it. Re: Question about Truphone
Hi Chris! I'm the Managing Editor of the Unofficial Truphone Blog at TruTower.com and I believe I may have an answer to your question. The Tru to Tru calling currently only works on PC, iPhone, and earlier Android devices. If she has a newer Android device, the app doesn't have the Tru Contacts tab needed to enable Tru to Tru calling. On BlackBerry, the Tru to Tru feature doesn't work at all, just pay per use calling. Tru is currently working on a new version of the app that will include all these features and more across platforms as can be viewed here: http://trutower.com/2012/05/25/truphone-rim-discuss-blackberry-10-truphone-app/ (yes, for BB10, but other platforms will follow). As far as your validation question goes, you'll want to log in to your Tru App account at www.truphone.com/myaccount and Scroll down to ‘My numbers’ and click Edit. Then choose Add New Number. Choose your phone number’s country, and enter your phone number. Click on Validate New Number (make a note of your PIN). When Tru calls the number you put in, answer the call and enter your PIN when prompted. I hope that helps! :) On Friday, September 7, 2012 2:31:21 PM UTC-6, Chris1984 wrote: Hello all. But, it seems silly to me to upgrade to a newer phone that will have the same amount of room as my 3GS, when my only issue right now with my 3GS is my lack of storage space. The problem for me is compounded by the fact that both my husband and I plan to upgrade, so whatever we pay is multiplied by two. Just my thoughts. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to bite the bullit. We're not planning to go any higher than 16GB at this point though, because we don't see ourselves needing more space than that. The Telegraph reports that sources close to retailers say Apple will replace the entry-level iPhone 3GS with the 8GB iPhone 4 and a new 8GB iPhone 4S to its lineup. Essentially, the 8GB iPhone 4 will be offered free on contract as the 3GS has been, and the 8GB iPhone 4S will become a new mid-point offering. Naturally, the new iPhone 5 will sit at the top of the totem pole and will come in capacities of 16GB , 32GB and 64GB. It can be argued that the 3GS has been a boon in emerging markets, especially because Apple will continue to support it in iOS 6, but we think it's time to let the three-year-old device go. After all, it is the only iPhone that still doesn't support Retina display apps. Connecting iPhone to speakers
Hi, The subject may seem vague, and I apologize. Here's my dilemma. I have a pair of USB-powered speakers, and I enjoy using them with my iPhone in my office to play music. However, I'm powering these speakers via my Netbook, and I don't want to be stuck at my desk all day in order to enjoy my music. I'd like a way to move with my Netbook to my couch, but still have my iPhone sitting on my desk connected to speakers. I would also like the possibility of having a remote if possible. Any thoughts on the best product(s) to purchase that will accomplish this? Thanks in advance for any help you can give, and have a great weekend! Back after a long absence and is it ok to discuss drm and itunes conversions here?
Hi I was a member of this list for quite a while some time ago, but left due to ongoing health problems. My health problems are still continuing so I apologise in advance for the probable sporadic nature of my contributions to the list. I have a query but am not sure if it’s ok to discuss here. I need a product to remove drm from Itunes videos and allow me to burn them to dvd. All products I have tried are not at all speech friendly. I am not intending to use this for anything illegal, I just need access to the material on another device. So, if this is ok to discuss here please let me know. Many thanks for any help in advance. Re: Sink iPhone to Mac
If you purchased music or movies off from your iphone itunes music store, you can simply transfer purchases. Connect your iphone to your new MBP, right click on your device and transfer purchases. Another option: There are third party program that does allow you to transfer your video or muisc or movie or photo from your phone to your mac computer. About the only thing unique to this app is the fact that the sighted person must tap on ok to acknowledge the fact that they understand what is being asked of them. I guess what bothers me as well is the fact that Humanware is really pushing their products in such a way as to not acknowledge other companies. The app description talks about how you can connect an iDevice to either the Brailliant or the Apex, instead of saying that it can be connected to any iDevice with any display. But there's a reason. Recently, the FCC has alocated a total of 10 million dollars to go toward funding telecomunications equipment for low income individuals who are deaf-blind. Each state was given a certain amount of dollars. And since the deaf-blind communicator which only worked with the mPower was not being even acknowledged any more, this is their answer. Re: Difficulty with Activating Links in an iBooks Book
I continue to experiment, but as of this writing, no maneuver, including the double-tap and hold pass-through option, is successful in activating a link to take me to a particular page number of a chapter. I am working within only one book, but from the comments on the list, I assume this problem is endemic to, or at least prevalent in, the in-page links encountered in iBooks. Re: Back after a long absence and is it ok to discuss drm and itunes conversions here?
Hi, this can be a grey area and some feel if it's for backup purposes only, it should be allowed. However since it can be used for other than backup purposes, then discussing drm removal is not approved for the list. Now, if someone ends up helping you off list, no one can really stop that. News360 - has anyone tried this app?
All, I had read an article about Nes360 which is an interesting aggregator as it pulls stories from multiple points of view and presents them. I tried the app on my iPad and I have to admit I'm not sure if the interface is just confusing to me initially or there are some accessibility issues with the app. So, I thought I would ask if anyone has tried this app out. You can find more information or download it for free by going to http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/news360/id394648566?mt=8. I would be curious what others think and if there are issues of accessibility please let me know. I'd like to communicate with the developer and see if these issues (assuming there are such) can be addressed. RE: Apple presentation?
Hi Fred, Apple never live streams their events, however, there are a lot of sites like CNET, Gizmodo, Techland etc. who will have so-called live blogs which means they have one or more people who attend the event and send out live messages explaining what whoever is currently talking actually says. If you google Apple Event Live Blog you will find these sites, just pick one and you may just have to refresh the website every minute or so to read what is happening. Alternatively, as Joanne pointed out, you can watch for Apple to release the keynote. The Apple Keynotes podcast will get it eventually although this can take anywhere from a few hours to a day or so, in June you were able to watch it via a link on www.apple.com long before it showed up as a Podcast. Lastly, Rob from Today in iOS will release a Podcast tonight in which he will go over the event and the new products. I beta tested this over the summer. But you're right that most of the features already exist in apps like Notes. For example, you can set up the app to send longer fraises with the press of like 3 keystrokes. You can do that with auto correction. Wow, you really have faith in Dropbox. I would not trust them with my entire database of passwords. I thought OnePassword worked among various platforms and devices, e.g. you use it on your PC and if you add a passcard or whatever they call it it should be available on other computers you may have and your iPhone. I personally use Roboform and the Roboform Everywhere service which costs $20 a year stores all my passcards and SafeNotes on their servers in an encrypted and secure way. RE: iPhone news
Hi Miranda, The 16 Gb version of the new iPhone will most likely cost the same as the 16 Gb version of the iPhone 4S which means $199. The iPhone 3GS will finally be dropped completely and the new free phone with contract will be the 8 Gb version of the iPhone 4 and I believe an 8 Gb version of the i{Phone 4S will be available for $99. Then the iPhone 5 or whatever it will be called is $199 for 16 Gb, $299 for 32 Gb and $399 for 64 Gb. I do realize that the newer phones have many newer and greater features, and this is great. Hi Sieghard. thanks for your reply. It would be nice if you could contact one of the people who have been involved in this project. They could just release a new version and make it free instead of just remove the app which so many people have bought and are using these days. I have never had any issue with this app, but I haven't used it much. I like the way you can transfer books via ftp instead iTunes. If you're using it for school, you might not always have access to your itunes computer, and itunes does not let you sync your iphone with more than one computer. So there I see a big annoying limit. RE: Connecting iPhone to speakers
Hi again, Miranda, If your only problem is to power your speakers you already have a solution. Instead of plugging them in to your netbook use the iPhone USB wall adapter and plug them into that, it will power them just fine. You can buy any USB wall adapter to do this if you don't want to use your iPhone adapter. I assume when you say your speakers are USB powered and that you use them with your iPhone that they also have a 3.5mm input and that you use a 3.5mm mal-to-male cable to connect your iPhone. If you want to buy a new speaker any iPhone dock would do and some of them come with a small, basic remote which allows you to play/pause or change the volume. Another option would be the Jawbone Jambox which would connect to your iPhone via Bluetooth so you can have your iPhone next to you and leave the speaker sitting somewhere else or vice versa, you could have your iPhone plugged in and carry around the speaker. The advantage here is that you can also answer an incoming phone call with it. But the Jambox is a bit pricy, $199 for the smaller, original version and $299 for the Big Jambox. Very good sound quality, though. Also, keep in mind that the new iPhone will most likely have a new, smaller dock connector. Any 30-Pin cables or docks you have now for your iPhone 3GS will not work with the new iPhone. Regards, Sieghard -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. The 99 Dollar question: a Review of the Humanware Communicator app
Tuesday, September 11, 2012 By Scott Davert For quite some time, deaf-blind users of iDevices have been able to use face to face communication with the public through the notes app. This consists typically of an iDevice (iPod, iPad, or iPhone) paired with a Braille display and Bluetooth keyboard. The deaf-blind person can then type using the Braille input keys on their display, while the sighted and hearing person types on the Bluetooth keyboard. All text shows up on both the Braille display and the screen of the iDevice. Now, there is another option on the market geared toward this specific purpose. The Humanware Communicator (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/humanware-communicator/id550473985) is an app available in the App Store for $99. The app facilitates the described communication process with some added functionality. One can read the description on the link above for an understanding of the basics, so these will not be covered in this article. Instead, the purpose of this article is to go through the features of this app and to help the deaf-blind consumer and the professional working with deaf-blind consumers to determine whether they feel the app is worth $99. It assumes that the reader is already familiar with the pairing process of a Braille display with the iDevice and its various quirks. You can read more on this at http://www.applevis.com/guides/Braille-commands-iphone. Also note that the pairing process for the Brailliant BI line specifically is much more simple, as no authentication code is required to pair the devices. Please see the manual for further explanation. Finally, this is only a review of the app itself, not the entire unit sold by Humanware which includes an iDevice and Humanware Braille display. Equipment Used This app was tested using an iPhone 4 (CDMA) running iOS 5.1.1 with a RefreshaBraille 18 Braille display. The latest model of the Apple Wireless Bluetooth keyboard was also used. An iPhone is going to most likely be the best device for this app, since it’s the only iDevice that vibrates. A note about a decision The most competent professionals in the field of access technology will tell you that one of the most important things in teaching is assessment. Only with a proper assessment can a professional or individual determine the best solution for specific situations. As such, it's important to keep in mind when reading the below info that what works for one deaf-blind consumer may not work at all for another. Only through proper assessment can the best solution be found to match that individual's communications needs. Whether you're deaf-blind yourself or working with someone who is, trying out the various options available is the first step to making a successful plan. App layout and explanation Going from left to right, once you launch the app, you will have the following options: New Conversation, Greeting, Phrases, Archives, User guide, and About. The New Conversation icon will allow you to start a new conversation. The Greeting option allows you to change the greeting if you do not like the default one. Phrases allow you to use a form of shorthand to enter a few letters and then have a designated string of text be written. Archives allow you to save conversations that you have had. The User Guide allows you to learn about how to use the app. About contains links to both the Humanware and INLB websites along with the option to rate the app. Each of these features will be discussed in turn. One other important note to add is that once you launch this app, your device will be placed in “landscape” mode, which means the orientation of the touch screen should be moved so that the Home button is on the right side of the device facing the person using the touch screen. New Conversation When you launch the New Conversation feature, your device will make a sort of ringing soun, and, if you have an iPhone, it will vibrate. By default, the following text appears on the screen. “HI, I am deaf and blind. Use this unit to communicate with me. Click OK if you understand.” When the sighted individual taps “OK” the Braille display will come up with a blinking cursor. It’s now you’re turn to type a message. You can enter this message in either contracted or uncontracted Braille. This can be toggled with the command space with G on the Braille keyboard. Pressing space with dot 8 on the keyboard of the Braille display sends your message, and it appears with an onscreen keyboard located underneath it. The sighted person then types out their message in response and taps send to send the message to you. The message will then pop up on the Braille display. This cannot be used by another VoiceOver user though, since the keyboard is set up to work with sighted individuals. So as to avoid confusion, each time the deaf-blind individual types a message a “Q:” will proceed the message, and each time the individual with the phone replies, this message will be prefaced with an “A”. Each
RE: subscribing to podcasts using iTunes.
Hi Jennifer, UYes, you have to use a Podcast app. Apple has released its own Podcast app and in iOS 6 Podcasts will no longer show up in iTunes as the Apple Podcast app is going to be pre-installed just as are stock apps like Notes, Calculator, Clock etc. At this point most people on the list and even sighted users would agree that the Apple Podcast app is not yet as good as, for example, Downcast. I am sure that with the release of iOS 6 Podcasts will probably see an update and it's my understanding that Apple intends this Podcast app to be as good as it can be. Downcast is probably the preferred podcast app by many blind users as the developer has made specific Voiceover improvements and is concerned about the accessibility of his app. I have used Podcaster, iCatcher and Downcast as well as Apple's Podcast app and still prefer Downcast. One thing which will set Apple's Podcast app aside in a way is that with iOS 6 SIRI will work with the Podcast app similar to how it works now with the music app. This means you maybe able to say something like Play the latest episode of the Applevis podcast and as long as you are subscribed to the Applevis podcast SIRI will play it. I guess we probably find out more about that in a couple of hours during the Apple Event when more about iOS 6 will be said and how far SIRI integration will go. The message will then pop

Re: New Tech Doctor podcast entitled 1Password and VoiceOver
Well I have to disagree with you on this one my friend. First of all the 1Password is encrypted and it would be nearly impossible for anyone to crack the file even if they have it. THe fact is the file is encrypted on your machine and not somebody's server. I'd be more concerned about my data being on a remote server that is encrypted by that server instead of it being encrypted on my machine and stored on a remote server. Dropbox, passwords, and security concerns
Hi all, the recent thread on the tech doctor podcast concerning 1Password has prompted me to write the following. First off, I don't use 1Password, so my comments might be off a bit. I use LastPass and MyKeePass. I won't get into the details of those password managers, but suffice it to say that I feel they are just as good as 1Password. I simply tried those first and see no need to switch to 1Password. So now onto the real reason why I'm writing. It's more about security and what you put on Dropbox and what is safe and what isn't. Many people feel it's ok to put whatever on Dropbox while others only put non-secure stuff, and still others are somewhere in between. What I do in regards to Dropbox is put files in it which I don't particularly care if the Dropbox staff somehow gains access to them. I know for a fact that Dropbox stores files on there even if you delete them. How do I know this? I once erased a folder of 5 gb of audio and later needed it for a friend, and so I copied it back over. It had been about 3 months since I had deleted them from Dropbox, yet when I copied them over again, it didn't take hours to upload and update, it only took a few minutes? Why is that? Because Dropbox already had a copy of those files. I also know that if you have a file which is an exact copy of someone else's file even if you are not sharing folders with that person, Dropbox uses the same copy. This allows them to save on disc space over all in the big picture. For example, if I download the iTunes setup file for Windows and put it in my installs folder of Dropbox which I only share with 5 people, and if 100 other people across the world also have this same file in their own private or public space of Dropbox, then Dropbox uses that one copy rather than multiple copies. Some might feel this is a breach of security. I personally feel it's Dropbox using disc space wisely. The one thing I don't do is put a text file of credit card or social security numbers in Dropbox just for the convenience of having access to those from my iPhone. Call me paranoid, but that's the way it is. Instead, what I do is use Truecrypt. Truecrypt is a program which allows you to create a file container of any size and put stuff in it. Think of it like a virtual usb stick. So, I have a 10 Mb Truecrypt container called KeepOut.tc. Yes, only 10 megs in size. I have this file in my dropbox folder and when I want to review personal text files from any of my computers, I simply mount this small 10 meg file and it becomes its own drive. Like drive x maybe. I can then open files, copy files, add files, do whatever I want in my little 10 meg virtual usb stick. When I'm done, I unmount it, that's like using safely remove hardware. The file is updated on Dropbox and closed up and secure again. There is an iphone app which will open Truecrypt files and so if I want access to this data from my iphone, then I simply do the same process from there. Some would say this is too much work for security, but it's worth it to me to take the extra seconds to open the Truecrypt file, look at it, and then close it when I'm done. I do a similar thing with all the documents in my documents folder of my netbook and my pc where I back them up onto a Truecrypt volume and that volume lives in Dropbox. So, it's like my own backup solution. I've written batch files to automatically open the virtual file, copy the changed files from my documents, and then close it. So, in the end it doesn't take much time at all. I'm not the only one who does this because there are various people who have blogged about it and who have shared similar doings in terms of Dropbox, backups, and security. Lastly, I mentioned KeePass as a password manager. This program is available in many different platforms, iOS and Windows for example, and can share the same database. So if I want to get access to a username and password for something, I can use that. The password file itself is encrypted, and so can safely live inside Dropbox where MyKeepass from iOS can read it. Hope that helps, and hope you join the paranoia team. -- -- Raul A. Re: iPhone news
Not only that, but after the announcement of the newest iPhone, you will see the price of the iPhone 4 models go way down. This is why in the last several months, many people have been trying to sell their iPhone 4 models before the announcement. As an example, I had the 3GS still when the 4S was announced and had I sold it before the announcement of the 4S, I could have gotten over 200 for it, but since I sold it after the 4S was announced, I got almost 100 less. So, right now I'm waiting for the price of a used 4 to drop because my two oldest kids will have a nice Christmas. -- Raul A. Gallegos If a turtle doesn't have a shell, is it naked or homeless? RE: iPhone news
Yes, there will be a flood of unlocked iPhone 4 phones becoming available as people's 2-year contract expires and they are allegeable for the new iPhone as well as an official unlock from ATT. However, keep in mind that an unlocked iPhone 4 32 Gig will most likely be as expensive or very close to as expensive as a 32 Gig new iPhone 5. Somebody just posted an ad for an iPhone 4 32 Gig in very good condition and they were asking $260. $299 will get you a brand new iPhone 5 32 Gig with warranty so unless I had a very good reason to need an unlocked phone I'd have little difficulties to spend $40 more and get the latest and greatest with warranty over something without warranty that is 2 years old. His iPhone 4 maybe in mint condition, however, no battery will be in mind condition after 2 years and you also will not get all of the new iOS 6 features with an iPhone 4, SIRI alone is worth it to get a new phone. RE: Connecting iPhone to speakers
Hi Miranda, Yes, you can buy USB extention cables, they have the type of plug on one end like your iPhone cable which plugs either into the computer's USB port or the iPhone wall adapter and on the other end they have a female plug which once again would accept the male end of your iPhone cable. Of course you could also just buy a longer iPhone cable from Amazon or on a site like www.monoprice.com where you can find decent quality cables for the fraction of the price you would pay at Best Buy or places like that. I wasn't aware that the USB wall adapter would power other USB-powered things, but it would make perfect sense since it's the same size as the speaker USB. Hm. Now, my next question is is there a cable I can get to extend the length of the USB connection? This is a bit short. Yes, the speakers actually have the USB cable to power, then they actually have a headphone 3.5MM small cable I just plug into the phone. The speaker chord looks like two chords sottered together (hopefully I'm explaining this well enough). I'll need to purchase another USB wall adaptor to charge my iPhone, but I don't mind. Well, for that matter, I'll just use this one for my new iPhone when I upgrade and use my new iPhone's charger for the iPhone itself of course. Thanks for your help, and have a great week! Re: Difficulty with Activating Links in an iBooks Book
Hi, This doesn't always work as sometimes the usual roter options are not always available in iBooks for me. Also, the double tap and hold doesn't work at all for navigation links that are supposed to move you to another part of the book. RE: iPhone news
Paul, The good news is that if storage is not an issue for you, i.e. 8 Gig is enough, it appears you will be able to get an iPhone 4S with 8 Gig of storage for only $99 which will still give you SIRI. I still think spending the $100 more and get an iPhone 5 with 16 Gig is well worth it, but that is just me. After all, the real cost is in the monthly plans not in the $99, $199 or $299 to uy the thing, well maybe the $299 or $399 for the 64 Gig does add up. Anyhow, I can see where the 8 Gig iPhone 4S could be an attractive option for people who are fairly invested in accessories such as cables, docks, cases etc. But at the same time I am sure we'll see lots of adapters soon to go from the new smaller dock connector to the traditional 30-Pin connector. It's also nothing new that you have to spend a minimum of a couple of hundred bucks to get the latest iPhone, it's been like that for the 4 and the 4S and probably for the 3GS, but that was before my time. Re: presentations from IPhone
Keynote does work well for presentations. VaShaun, I don't think you can find an app that will display your gestures, not actually showing your fingers as they move. I don't know of anything, perhaps some sort of camera setup could show your iPad screen and your hands. The problem is similar to projecting you laptop's screen during a presentation, if you are seated at the computer, noone can see what you are typing, but they could see the results of your keystroke on the big screen. Unless you have a camera focusede on your hands and the keyboard. Also be careful when buying an I-Phone 4, these things do have a battery life, and I recall reading somewhere it is between 400 and 500 charges. It can be argued that the 3GS has been a boon in emerging markets, especially because Apple will continue to support it in iOS 6, but we think it's time to let the three-year-old device go. After all, it is the only iPhone that still doesn't support Retina display apps. RE: ABout writing Spanish letters on Iphone
I keep my phone in touch typing mode and when I need to enter an accented letter or even the ñ as my last name is Muñoz, I'll slide my finger on the virtual keyboard until I find that particular letter and tap the keyboard somewhere else with another digit (split tapping or whatever it's called). . After that, i can lift my finger and flick and go around the keyboard as though I was in standard mode typing and double tap and hold on that particular letter until the chimes are heard and VO announces that alternative characters are available. Once that's done, it's a simple sliding back or forth until I find the accented letter I want and just lift my finger. I did for a time have the secondary Spanish language keyboard on my iPhone, but found it to be redundant And a distraction since I can access all the different letters and symbols (inverted question marks, inverted exclamation marks, etc.) with the split tapping while never leaving touch typing mode and so on mentioned above. This means that when you tap on a letter, it behaves just like any other button or control on the iPhone. This means that you have to double-tap after first selecting the letter. Once you have it set this way, you can double-tap and hold on the letter you want, the letter A for example, then as you hold on the screen, drag it left or right and you will hear the various accented letters. Just release your finger when you get to the one you want and it will be entered. RE: ABout writing Spanish letters on Iphone
Yeah, thankfully I discovered this way earlly on when getting my phone. I did try that switching back and forth between touch and standard typing and oh man, was it a pain. That and like I said, it made having secondary keyboard layouts unnecessary. Banging out something in Spanish or even being able to type my last name and even if I want, I can insert the accented o into my first name without wasting so much time the other way. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Raul A. Re: iPhone news
This depends a lot on how the phone was used. We're also talking about charge cycles and not charges. A charge cycle is when you go through 100% of the battery usage. So for example, suppose you plug your iPhone in one day to bring it from 80% to 100%, the next day you do the same thing to bring it from 70% to 100% and the 3rd day you bring it from 50% to 100%. This would be one charge cycle, since 20% plus 30% plus 50% equals 100%. I've seen claims that LI batteries can get any where from 300 to 1000 charge cycles. Based on what I've read, I suspect 300 is rather pessimistic, and you're probably talking around 500 to 600 cycles on average. LI batteries also start loosing their capacity once they're manufactured. Again, I've seen anywhere from 10% to 20% a year. I think 10% is probably a bit closer to reality. Bottom line is that it depends a lot on how a phone was used, what temperature it was kept at and so on. I would think a phone that was pretty heavily used would last for at least three years and four or five years wouldn't be unreasonable for a phone that wasn't heavily used. I'm talking about the battery of course. Thanks for the summary. I haven't been able to find much in coverage for usable pages, and I've been busy the last 2 hours or so. Anyone have a similar summary for iOS 6 features? Re: Epub files that I need to put in IBooks
Placing them in dropbox, opening the bookin the dropbox app on your phone and tapping the export button at the bottom right of the screen will do it. Since you have so many, you may want to import them in to iTunes.Do the following, open itunes open the file menu and arrow down to the add file item. If all the books are in one folder you could select the add folder option below add file. Which ever one you choose, select the file or folder you want to add to iTunes. Select the open button and you should hear the tri tone indicating that the import is complete. Make sure that you have books selected to sync to your device. Perform a sync and your books should be in iBooks. An added note, the e-pub files must be unprotected, so not from somewhere like amazon, BN or books-a_million. - Original Message - From: Shannon Dyer To: viphone@googlegroups.com Sent: Wednesday, September 12, 2012 3:06 PM Subject: Epub files that I need to put in IBooks Hi, all.
