Hey Thomas
Thanks a lot for your suggestion. But BeSpecular is not available on
the Indian app store. And I do not have an account on the US app
store. Can I have two accounts? And if yes could you share the
procedure?

Re: Adding a song to an existing playlist in apple music

2017-01-12 Thread Akhil
Hi,
the entire process will be same except the last final step as you described.
instead of flicking up or down, just double tap and press long the song
which you'd like to ad to your existing playlist. a dialogue box will
appear consisting of various options including the add to play list option
which you want. select the desired option and find the playlist by flicking
left or right in which you like to add the selected song. double tap the
selected play list and the song is added to your desired playlist...

Thanks
Akhilesh.

You said background app refresh is not on, maybe turn it on and see if
that makes a difference. On my 6S Plus sometimes when I go to the app
store and then back out it shows I have updates, but it didn’t show them
before I opened it. If I don’t check it long enough it will show them so
it may just take some time for them to show up.

If it is and it still doesn’t work, you may want to call Apple

Hello Listers,

I am having the following issue with my iPhone SE and the Ap store.
When I put my finger on the Ap store icon voice over will not tell me if
there are any updates, unless I go in to the Ap store and double tap the
updates tab. On my old 5s iPhone as soon as I put my finger on theAp
store icon, voiceover says Ap store 6 updates available. How can I fix
this? Running latest iOS

Thankfully, this feature, called "raise to wake" can be turned off in the
display and brightness settings. I suppose it's good for sighted people,
because they can just pick up the phone and the screen comes on. But like you,
I found it exceedingly irritating and turned it off.

Hi Sieghard.
The sales rep from apple stated that they send them to be cleaned
after every use. I chose to believe this... I haven't died yet. LOL

I heard about not being able to switch on the fly but as I don't have
an apple watch this wasn't a deal breaker.
The volume control will take some getting used to... but that wasn't a
dealbreaker for me.

RE: Ordered my airpods!

Thanks, Arnold for confirming that you can at least pick up a call. I assume
while a call is in progress a double tap will end it?

You answer a call by double tapping one of them. It will know that you are
wanting to answer a call if there is one coming in. To pair them, have your
device next to your air pods and open the case. I was told I had to have the
screen unlocked, but I am not sure this is really the case. After a few
seconds, a dialogue should pop up on the screen, in which you swipe to connect,
and they should be paired.

RE: Ordered my airpods!

2017-01-12 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Jennifer,

Hopefully I won't burst your bubble, but while I love gadgets I decided to stay
away from the Airpods at this point because of two main reasons:

1. I have an Apple Watch and apparently while you can pair them with an iPhone
and an Apple Watch, they do not switch seamlessly between these devices. My
Plantronics Voyager Edge when it's paried to both my phone and my Apple Watch
will do this. I can be listening to an audio book on my phone and if a
notification on my watch comes in the book pauses, the notification sound is
heard and then the book restarts.
2. Lack of control. All you can do it bring up SIRI by tapping the Airpods. If
you want to change volume you either have to tap and tell SIRI to increase or
decrease volume which interrupts what's playing, volume is adjusted, then the
stream restarts and depending if you wan to increase/decrease the volume more
you have to repeat several times or you still have to pull out your phone to
adjust it on the phone. This is hardly the handsfree future Apple has announced
when they "had the courage" to get rid of the 3.5mm headphone jack. Maybe
somebody who already has them can confirm or not whether while a call is coming
in you can tap to answer and whether during a call you can tap to hang up. I
really hope that at least that functionality is there, but for the high price I
think they are not yet worth it. I am pretty sure that this fall there will be
the Airpod series 2 and it wouldn't surprise me if it had all sorts of touch
controls on it. Oh well, at least I assume you have Apple's 30-day satisfaction
guaranty. I'm actually almost tempted to order them and return them just to
have a chance to try them out and to let Apple know that this is a product
which is not worthy of my satisfaction yet.
By the way, how do they do this in the store with respect to trying them? You
said you were able to try them at an Apple Store, do they have some sort of
disposable cover or do you get to try them after a couple of hundred people
before you have stuck them in their ears and left their earwax on them?

Regards,
Sieghard

Re: Adding a song to an existing playlist in apple music

2017-01-12 Thread Wayne Merritt
The method you described is how I add songs from playlists to my
library. I suppose you could hit the add item in the actions rodar,
but I prefer to add songs directly to playlists so that I know where
they end up. I would be interested in hearing from others on this
topic. Perhaps there's a simpler way that I am missing.

Re: iMessage sticker packs and accessibility

2017-01-12 Thread Wayne Merritt
ON the topic of sticker packs, I got one not too long ago from the
American Printing House for the Blind. I forget the name, but if you
search for them in the App Store or iMessage Store, you will find
their pack. The pack is free and features stickers related to
blindness, such as Braille forms of popular holiday and seasonal
greetings, guide dogs wearing different holiday hats, and more.

RE: Setting up Wi-Fi connection

2017-01-12 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Do you mean how to use your iPhone as a hotspot? If so go to Settings >
Personal Hotspot (it's after "Cellular" and if you use Samantha Enhanced it
will read the word "Hotspot" as if the last "o" was not there (very strange).
Anyhow, double tap on this, turn on personal hotspot and if you want other
devices to connect to your iPhone via WiFi you have to either check what the
auto-geneated password is or you can double tap on this and enter a password
you define.

RE: iMessages

2017-01-12 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Donna,

Joseph basically gave you the correct information, just to add a bit to it the
exact label you are looking for when you are editing a contact is "Text Tone"
and it is one swipe to the right past "Ringtone". This is, however, not at the
bottom but sort of in the middle. If you swipe it's past the phone numbers and
before where you can enter a person's or company's URL/website.
Initially it will say "Text tone, default", once you double tap on it you are
in the area where you can pick from any available text tones including any
custom tones you may have added.

Hi Donna, yes you're clearly overlooking it. First of all, you have to find the
edit button within the context, then after finding the edit button you need to
find this place where it says text tone or ring tone. These can be found at the
very bottom of each contact. Didn't want to tap on that, you'll be brought into
your tones. Then she was the one that you want and then simply hit the done
button. I hope this helps.

Re: Ordered my airpods!

2017-01-12 Thread Arnold Schmidt
You answer a call by double tapping one of them. It will know that you are
wanting to answer a call if there is one coming in. To pair them, have your
device next to your air pods and open the case. I was told I had to have the
screen unlocked, but I am not sure this is really the case. After a few
seconds, a dialogue should pop up on the screen, in which you swipe to connect,
and they should be paired.

RE: Any 2017 Apple-Related New Year Resolutions?

2017-01-12 Thread Cris Ali
My resolution was to buy an iPad Pro 9.7 inch, but when I realized that it only
has two GB of RAM I changed my mind. I can't understand why the Pro 12.9 inch
has 4 GB and the 9.7 has only 2 GB.
I like your resolutions Mark. They need determination though.
Cheers,
Cris

Subject: Any 2017 Apple-Related New Year Resolutions?

Hello Everyone,

I was just wondering if any of you have made any Apple related 2017 new year
resolutions?

As for me, my 2017 resolution is to (1), thank/acknowledge at least 1 app
developer per month for continuing to include VoiceOver accessibility in its
updates and (2), to lobby at least 1 currently non-VoiceOver accessible app
developer to either add or improve VoiceOver accessibility to its offerings.

I look forward to your replies,

Mark

Re: Smart Beatle 14-Cell Braille Display

2017-01-12 Thread Scott Davert
Hmmm. Maybe this is indeed continuing on some displays, but not others. I have
not had it happen since 10.02 as far as I can remember. Would be curious what
other models of displays people are seeing this behavior on. Also, how often
does it happen? I'm currently running a vefreshabraille and am not seeing it at
all. I've switched jobs, so am not able to test on different models of
displays. I'd test it now on my Edge, but as I wrote earlier, I'm still waiting
for them to give me a RMA. I first tried contacting them Jan 3.

What version of iOS are you running? I've not seen this exact beghavior since
very early in iOS 10. I ran a Braille Edge for quite some time and didn't see
this. Again, in defense of HIMS, this issue was not unique to their braille

You said background app refresh is not on, maybe turn it on and see if that
makes a difference. On my 6S Plus sometimes when I go to the app store and then
back out it shows I have updates, but it didn’t show them before I opened it.
If I don’t check it long enough it will show them so it may just take some time
for them to show up.

Hello Listers,

I am having the following issue with my iPhone SE and the Ap store. When I put
my finger on the Ap store icon voice over will not tell me if there are any
updates, unless I go in to the Ap store and double tap the updates tab. On my
old 5s iPhone as soon as I put my finger on theAp store icon, voiceover says Ap
store 6 updates available. How can I fix this? Running latest iOS

Re: Smart Beatle 14-Cell Braille Display

2017-01-12 Thread Scott Davert
Hi Davy.
What version of iOS are you running? I've not seen this exact beghavior since
very early in iOS 10. I ran a Braille Edge for quite some time and didn't see
this. Again, in defense of HIMS, this issue was not unique to their braille
devices as far as I'm aware.

Hi All

Is there a way to set different text tones for contacts? A friend said that she
has a 2 different tones, 1 ringtone & the other a text tone, set for her
husband & other contacts. I have looked in the phone app, the contacts app &
settings. Am I overlooking the setting to do this? Or was this only possible in
past versions of IOS? I have an iPhone 7 with IOS 10.2.

Any 2017 Apple-Related New Year Resolutions?

2017-01-12 Thread M. Taylor

Mark

Hi Dulce.

As long as you are comfortable with 14 cells, it's not a bad option at all. The
keyboard is a bit less angular than what you would be used to on the Braille
Sense, which took me some adjusting, but not something that bothered me after
the first day of use. I sometimes find that iOS does strange things with
braille translation, but that it's no more or less because of the braille
display. One thing I will warn you of, and this may not apply to you if you are
not in North America, is that if you need to get the Smart Beetle repaired,
HIMS Support has gotten much worse in the past year. For example, I asked for a
RMA about 10 days ago to return a Braille Edge, and they still have not
returned either my email or phone call. I still hear of people who have some
good experiences with their support, but I'm hearing more bad things than good
these days.

I did a review on the Smart Beetle, feel free to read it and ask any other
questions you may have.

RE: Ap store iPhone SE issue

2017-01-12 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
You said background app refresh is not on, maybe turn it on and see if that
makes a difference. On my 6S Plus sometimes when I go to the app store and then
back out it shows I have updates, but it didn’t show them before I opened it.
If I don’t check it long enough it will show them so it may just take some time
for them to show up.

Control key on Belken f5l153 keyboard?

2017-01-12 Thread Ann Byrne
I have a Belken f5l153 blue tooth keyboard that says it's designed to
work with an iPad mini. Left of the spacebar are fn, option, and
command keys. Right of the spacebar is question mark. Nowhere can I
find a control key. Can anyone tell me how to do VO without a control key?

thanks,

Hi Alia.
Your experiences when coparing Baum to HIMS support are the same as mine. In
somewhat a defense of HIMS, they probably have more units to service since
their devices have been around longer. Nonetheless, it really seems that
after the last president of the North American office left in the summer
that things took a nose dive. Not sure what's up with that exactly, but I
hope they fix things. They were at the top of their game not long ago, in my
opinion.

Rich,
Scott was talking about the President of the HIMS office in Texas, not the

HIMS is the company based in Korea that make the Braille Sense line of products.

I'm not sure how to trouble shoot those particular apps as I don't use them.

But, if you have sighted friends with an iDevice, you could Call them using
FaceTime and ask them what you are asking of the apps.
Or, if you have Skype and you have sighted friends with Skype, you could do the
same thing.

RE: Smart Beatle 14-Cell Braille Display

2017-01-12 Thread Richard Turner
Yes, HIMS was among the best for support.

I have not seen the prototypes of the Orbit 20, but I have my name in with the
NFB store to get one to check out when they are released.

My Braille Edge display died recently and when it was going to cost $2300 to
repair it, I decided to wait for the Orbit 20 and if that doesn’t meet my
needs, I think I will look at the Vario Ultra 20.

I have seen all the rest through my work.

Hi Richard.
I finally just heard back from them and replied immediately. I'm hoping now
that I'm on their radar, things will start to move. I have to say, as someone
who handles a lot of braille displays from many different companies, that HIMS
used to be decent in terms of support, but that it seems to have started to
decline last summer. Fraedon Scientific, Humanware, and APH have all processed
support requests I've submitted on behalf of consumers within 48 hours. It's
just sad, because HIMS has made good hardware.
As for the Orbit Reader, yes, I'm also looking forward to it. It's a well built
product and does what it says it will fairly well as far as I could tell from
the prototypes I saw. All for the price of half a Smart Beetle, 1/3 of a Focus,
etc. And with more cells!

I’m anxiously awaiting the Orbit 20 from APH.

I don’t need a full note taker and if the Orbit does come out at around $500, I
could replace it a couple of times for the price of the least expensive note

I recently purchased an Iphone 7 and have a small password issue. Am
assuming this is user error rather than something that happened when

settings so that it is calling for my passcode every time the screen
locks. Is there a way to reset this short of removing the passcode
and possibly my fingerprints? Any help much appreciated.

Re: Smart Beatle 14-Cell Braille Display

2017-01-12 Thread alia robinson
I had the braille edge 40 and found out braille cells aren’t covered under the
warranty, so sent it back. I tried contacting them about a few things, and they
literally *never* responded! now I have the varioultra and bahumUSA literally
fixed my unit on the day before thanksgiving, gave me emails what they fixed,
and sent it back, on a holiday. I had it back by the week after thanksgiving.
It is literally never been an hour between the time I email them and the time
they respond, and I have even had conversations with some of them while they
were making their dinner. outstanding service.

RE: Smart Beatle 14-Cell Braille Display

2017-01-12 Thread Richard Turner
Support has gotten worse.
If you leave them a voice mail, it is sometimes a long time before you hear
from them, if at all. I’m talking up to a couple of weeks.
If you send an Email, and if you don’t hear back in a couple days, send another
one, then you are more likely to get a reply.

I’m anxiously awaiting the Orbit 20 from APH.

I don’t need a full note taker and if the Orbit does come out at around $500, I
could replace it a couple of times for the price of the least expensive note
taker.

I still hear of people who have some
good experiences with their support, but I'm hearing more bad things than good
these days.

questions you may have.

It seems to be pretty good. Make sure you have adequate light where you are
using it.

I’m not sure what would be causing the randomness; how are you using it
exactly?

Among the things I’ve done with the app is pan it acroos the sky and gotten a
general idea about the conditions in terms of clouds.

I use it on my 5S. Yesterday I picked up the color of the couch at my
therapist’s office and the color of her clothes. Perhaps you may need to be
careful how quickly you move the phone about so it has a chance to pick up the
new surface. It may be having some difficulty around edges where there might be
multiple colors in the view.

She asked me if it would be useful for those who are color blind, that is,
someone who may have normal visual acquity but cannot distinguish different

I know VoiceOver reports the detected color but I was wondering if the color

Smart Beatle 14-Cell Braille Display

2017-01-12 Thread Dulce Muccio Weisenborn
Blind Bargains is selling two gently used Smart Beatle 14-cell Braille
displays with one year warranties. Do any of you have experience with this
display? I have a Hims OnHand and like the feel of the Braille. Is this
display prone to repairs?

Re: ColorVisor question

2017-01-12 Thread Andrea Roveretto

Do you find that the app is returning any usefull result?

I have tried several times on an iphone 5s with poor results... little
more than random

She asked me if it would be useful for those who are color blind, that

different colors well or at all.

I know VoiceOver reports the detected color but I was wondering if the
color report displays in text also so such a color blind person
wouldn’t have to turn on VoiceOver to use the app.

Re: use onedrive, microsoft

2017-01-12 Thread Gianni
Robert,
I uploaded the files, that works. Now I want to make a group and share
documents, that doesn't work. And I want to decide who can write in these files
and who can't. That I can't find. When I open a document, word on line opens
and Jaws doesn't respond.
