I've had to take a bunch of statistics and probability courses as part
of my undergrad coursework at Stanford, and as everyone pointed out,
it's not that difficult here. My disability office provided me
material in MathML, and it became very easy thereafter.

it's not challenging if you have Materials in accessible format. I
have done statistics in graduation and even now, I have a Subject. as
of now, I use excel for all calculations. for using software like R,
accessibility has improved a lot. I have a link which gives info of

if u could get materials then we can do Econometrics and Statistics.
I have done statistics in my UG and PG.
I have not faced that much issues in learning Statistics but in the
case of Econometrics I faced difficulty in the UG level and I was
forced to ignore it in my PG.
here the important thing is the availability of study material in
accessable formats.
but there may not be such issues in your case .
in the case of SPSS I myself find it difficult to use it.

Method 1 - Suggested by Mr. Kanchwala:

If you know the formula for the compound interest, take the present
population as the principal and solve it.
I am writing the formula for the same.
Principal * (1+ rate /100) ^N times
Putting this formula and substituting the numbers:
1,50,000 (105/100) ^2 = 165375. This is the answer of the first part.
 Now the second part is: What was the population two years back.
 For this:
 15 (100/105) ^ 2 =
 136054.4

Hi,

The solution as suggested by Mr. Sharma to 1B, is in fact, correct.
Accidently, Mr. Kanchwala has taken 15 as 15000, resulting in the
anomaly.

Further, the solution to the second question as suggested is very
complecated. An easy way of approaching this is by employing set
theory.

Let h be the set of students who failed in Hindi, and E be the set of
students who failed in English
Let the total No. of students in the class=100
Now, we have:
No. of elements in H=35
No. of elements in E=45
Further, No. of elements in E intersection H=20
Further, we know:
E u H=No. of elements in e+No. of elements in H-No. of elements in e
intersection h
Where u is union
(You can learn this formula for this type of problems, it will prove handy)
Therefore, in this case:
e u h=35+45-20=60
Now, 60 students failed in either English or Hindi or both.
Therefore, students who did not fail in either of the subjects (rather
who passed in both the subjects)=100-60=40

Yes, the set theory is easy but most of us have gone through mathes up to 
tenth level.
That is why, the terms like a union b, or complementary etc., are new to 
such aspirants.

Hi,

Rather than trying to understand the terminology, one can simply
understand the implication and complete the problem easily. For
instance, it isn't vital to understand the word `union`, and simply
understanding what it implies (eitherorboth) is sufficient. So
basically, one can adopt an approach similar to the one in set theory,
without delving into its  details as such. This way, the problems can
be approached a lot more efficiently in my view.

Hi,
i'm of the opinion that there can not be a single formula to solve such 
problems. you can solve the first question as mentioned below:

(a) population after two years : (15 * 105%) 105% = 165375.
(b) population before two years : (15 * 95%) 95% = 135375.
in simple words in situation (a) multiply the given figure twice with 105% 
and in situation (b) multiply twice with 95%.


2. according to the problem:
(a) students failed in both subjects = 20%,
(b) students failed in english only = 45 - 20 = 25%,
(c) students failed in Hindi = 35 - 20 = 15%.
(d) total students failed = 20 + 25 + 15 = 60%,
so passsed students = 100 - 60 = 40%.

Hi Mohib,
As you might be knowing, I had prepared for cat 2012.
This exam has very vast syllabus when it comes to mathematics.
And I am also a person with almost 0 vision.
I hired a volunteer who used to read out each and every question and
when ever required it's solution for me
I used to pay special attention towards those illustration which are
given in the starting of the chaptor.
these illustrations provide an overview of whole chaptor. If you can
understand those then, generally a chaptor doesn't remain that much
difficult.
if you are planning to depend on jaws to complete your syllabus then,
I am sorry to say but it is very very difficult.
So hire a volunteer and utilize your time more efficiently.

If you know the formula for the compound interest, take the present 
population as the principal and solve it.

I am writing the formula for the same.
Principal * (1+ rate /100) ^N times
Putting this formula and substituting the numbers:
1,50,000 (105/100) ^2 = 165375. This is the answer of the first part.
 Now the second part is: What was the population two years back.
 For this:
 15 (100/105) ^ 2 =
 136054.4



 Now the second question.

 Suppose, the total number of students is 100.

 20 failed in both subjects. therefore, subtract the amount from the 
total numbers = 100 = 80.


 Now, 35 minus 20 = 5 students failed in Hindi only.

 Therefore, 80 minus 5 = 75 % students passed in Hindi.

 And

 80 minus 15 = 65 % students passed in English.

Failed in Hindi = 35%
Passed in Hindi: = 100 minus 35 = 65.
Failed in English: = 45

Passed in Both =
A. Passed in either Hindi or English minus
Passed in Hindi
= 80 minus 65 = 15
Plus
B. Passed in either Hindi or English minus
Passed in English
=80 minus 55 = 25
= A plus B
=15 plus25
=40 Answer.

Go to the tools menu, move down to message rules submenu, move right to
mails and hit enter. Tab to new and press enter. Check the uncheked chekbox
where the from line contains people.

Press tab and check the check box move it to the specified folder. Press 
tab to land on an edit field. Arrow down to where the from line contains 
people Press enter and you will be asked to type the name of the people or 
find them from the address book. Tab to add button and tab to ok and the 
rule is created.

I don't think that your phone can work with mobile accessibility fully well
because I have heard some where that it can be used only in those
phones which have a physical keyboard or at least an opticle track pad
but I checked the specifications of the moddel mentioned by you
I did'nt find any type of trackpad or keyboard in that
it is just my personal view
I may be wrong
please let me know if you will be successful in using a screen reader
in your device

Of course it is possible to open the mousover links via jaws to open
it symply hit the enter key or/ spacebar key on it. If it is not
opening, then place your virtual  curcir on that, and press
insert+jaws curcer then press the left mouse button on that it must
open. If it will not, then let me know, i will let you know another
method to activate the mousover link
In technical language, mouse over means, that link will activate when
mouse curcer over it.

players--I mean what are the special features it offers to its users. And if it 
is an other file type, then how is it different from other multi media files?

iTunes is a music management software program created by Apple, which
is required for doing anything on an iPod.

It is used to synch your music files to your player and for just about
anything you might want to do with your player.  One cannot just copy
and paste files onto an iPod, one has to go through iTunes, as the
iPods do not show up as removable drives on your computer.

If one has an iPod, one can use iTunes to purchase media such as
music, audiobooks, etc.  If one has an iPod Touch, iPad, or an iPhone,
one can use the iTunes store to also purchase applications for use on
ones device.

I have heard of these devices being referred to as purchase delivery
devices, as one is supposed to solely use iTunes for purchasing ones
content, which makes Apple billions of dollars a year.  In my opinion,
these devices are way overpriced, and Apple should just give these
devices away.  They would make more money in the end through iTunes.

There is a percentage of blind/vision-impaired people who find iTunes
inaccessible and so pay $75 for specialized scripts for JAWS so that
they can then use iTunes and their iPods.  There are others who do not
find a need to use these expensive scripts, as they find iTunes
accessible enough to use.  It depends on the user.

If one can get past any of its accessibility faults, iTunes is usable.

3. Which is a better alternative out of a Multi media mobile, a DAISY player an 
i pot and why?
   I am asking these questions since my own personal knowledge about DAISY 
player and i pot is quite elementary. Hence I await an early reply from all 
learned friends. So kindly oblige by sharing your vast knowledge.

It all depends on what you want to do with your player.

If you are going to listen to DAISY books exclusively, then a DAISY
player would be the best choice.

If you enjoy dealing with iTunes and want to play MP3 files and Apple
audio files, then an iPod would be the player of choice.

If you wish to play MP3, OGG, FLAC, WAV, AIFF, MP4, M4A, and other
file types, then you may wish to take a look at:

Most MP3 players will play the MP3 portion of DAISY files, but without

Just to add, the Ipod touch 32 and 64 GB come with in-build voiceover.
Besides, they have e-mail configurational tools and several other
features and all of them may not be useful to us. Ipod touch also can
play audible books as well. However I didn't like it's sound quality
and it's internal speaker is terible. but very good with headphones or
speakers.

Professional softwares  people are available to recover data. But Price 
is
high, starting from RS 5000- can go upto 15000-2. Is data so important 
?

If not forget it. If yes do not use particular harddisk  send IT people.

Yes we can use it with Jaws curser or with scripts. If you know that
which contact is online then just press left mouse button on the name
of that contact the window will appear from which you can type and
send messages and you can call and can operate some more features. It
is good to change the general settings for hiding the off line
friends. For doing it click on settings which you can find in the
window of google talk.

reason for slowing down your machine.
Other thing, ignore such messages in the bolk folder which have attachments 
of unknown file types and they have full e mail address instade of the name 
of the  sender. such messages may contain viruses. For example, If a mail 
with virus has send to youby me, then instead of my name Rohiet A. Patil you 
will see, [EMAIL PROTECTED]
You can install AVG anty virus and anty spiware. download it from
http://www.free.grisoft.com

I don't think reinstalling Kurzweil will solve the problem. As far as my 
experience goes, it is a permanent problem between kurzweil and fine reader. 
Kurzweil does not open any file scanned from fine reader and saved in MS 
word format. So, saving it in text format and opening it with Kurzweil 
appears to be the only solution. In order to insure accurate ordering of the 
pages of the books vis-a-vis that of the scanned file, one can do some 
experiments with the format settings option in the save file dialogue box in 
fine reader, before pressing the save button.

 I am facing problem with the scanned books in word format. If I scanne 
 books
 through finereader and save it in word format the kurzwell does not open 
 it.
 The same problem is with kurzwell. If I do scanning through kurzwell and
 save files in word format sometimes kurzwell opens them sometimes not. So 
 I
 have to save all the books in text format. Please tell me what is problem
 with me or with my system.

I think the problem is in Kurzweil so remove it permanently and also remove
its components. Now reinstall it it will help you.
