holy cow, i just got done reading what i could find on them. thats just a
shitshow of terrible customers on terrible service. We have maybe 10
customers left to shed that we just simply cant provide reliable service
to, I dont even feel bad now, apparently I can all but show up at their
house and use the radio cable to strangle their infant and people will
still pay

I need a security fence on some property where I store equipment and vehicles.
Got a quote from a fence company.
About $20/foot or more. That was for chain link with barbed wire at the top
and a couple of fancy gates.

Camp Williams (Utah Natl Guard) and the nearby NSA facility has a fence made
primarily out of hog wire.
It looks to be about 7’ tall and super t bar fence posts.

Then there are other fences that look like they are using some form of mini
galvanized I beam. Those are chain link.

Looking for options. If someone is hell bent on climbing a fence, the
difference between chain link and hog wire is not much.
Chain link is much more difficult to cut and slightly more difficult to
climb.

  Opinions?

Cattle panels are what we use in the gardens like 6x10 inch rectangular
holes, could probably train an infant to rob the inerior and stick them
through. You can get the heavy duty T posts. A roll of barbed wire isnt
much per foot, but i dont know what the cattle fenc, tposts, fasteners and
barbed wire works out to per foot. It is prettier to look at though than
chain link. Plus you can plant tomatos, beans, and cucumbers

[AFMUG] OT Security fence

2018-02-28 Thread chuck

Chain link is much more difficult to cut and slightly more difficult to climb.

Opinions?

I would agree, if you didn't specifically tell him to go to Geek Squad, you
have no responsibility. Even if you did, it's questionable, because from
the sounds of it, it was most likely his stupidly configured VPN that was
the problem, and not really a problem with the connection. The fact that
changing something on the connection made it work doesn't actually mean
that there was something wrong with the connection the way it was before...
if you didn't have the option of changing to DHCP, the only way to make it
work would've likely been to change his VPN configuration.

Off topic, but what are you using for DHCP? Are you running a BNG that
authenticates the circuit? i.e SVLAN/CVLAN or Option 82 circuit data?

For an authoritative answer you'll need a lawyer. Which I am not.

People selling telephone service in the US file an FCC Form 499-A.
The instructions for form 499-A are linked below and they'll mention
other taxation and regulatory fees and forms that must be dealt with
such as USF, TRS, NANPA, LNPA, and ITSP fees.

https://usac.org/_res/documents/cont/pdf/forms/2016/2016-FCC-Form-499A-Form-Instructions.pdf

I have no idea whether any or all of this applies to what you are
doing, but if you are selling a telephone service within the US, I
find it likely that Uncle Sam will want a piece of your pie.

Hi Guys,

Do you know if we need any special FCC permit to sell SIP services to
a US based ISP?

We are based in Malta in the EU.

Thanks

Thank you for your reply.

Wouldn’t that apply if you were the one selling to the end user? Likewise, if I
export product to the US, it would be the importer who would have to have
trading permits, import licences etc.

Re: [AFMUG] OT VPN over PPPOE

2018-02-28 Thread Donnie McCorkle
Was his MTU a factor? He would manually have to set it on the router behind
the PPPoE connection.

The limitation would have evaporated when converted to DHCP.

Yeah Chuck, we went back and forth with Time Warner getting them to open ports
on router for cameras...upgraded NVR and used vendor platform access to finally
give manager remote access and monitoring to camp cameras.

We thought perhaps it was a port issue. Opened the ports on the Smart RG. No

He spend $150 over the weekend on a geek squad type of service and they pointed
their finger at us.

So, just because we haven’t tried it, we switched him to DHCP and it started
working.

We are in the process of converting everyone to DHCP.

He wants a credit in the amount of the money he paid the geek squad.

Wonder if it was truly our fault. Still don’t know why it started working or
what the problem was.

No permit but there are taxes, reporting, and filling you have to do.

Yeah interesting ... been a while since I've done that myself ... surprised on
a few of them (Amazon for example) not working as they typically have

We need more ISP's to get on the IPv6 bandwagon though ..

Just for the hell of it I turned off IPv4 and just left IPv6 running on my

It's interesting to see what actually loads.

My Exchange client still works, but office265.com doesn't.

The Microsoft store works though, so I guess there are priorities, lol!

Facebook works, most google stuff works.

I'm using google IPv6 DNS though, so maybe they are discriminating...

Most of my bank URLs do not work.

Ebay doesn't work either.

Amazon no worky.

Youtube works, but interestingly a lot of their inline ads don't, so maybe
that's a bonus.

My own website doesn't work.

Sonar works, as does my front page of my billing portal since I enabled
IPv6 myself on it.
DigitalOcean works.

My response and routing for things that do work seem a lot better.

Blizzard launcher doesn't connect at all, so online gaming is out for that
set of games anyways.

Speedtest.net doesn't work.

Most of these are saying ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED or something similar with
DNS like DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN
