I don't have an answer to your question, but I suggest you go another
direction altogether. As the current release is the last one to have a
client, and you can't do OLE in the web.I suggest you try getting something
going with the web instead of further investing ANYTHING in the client
recipient, please do not read, copy, or use it, and do not
disclose it to others. Please notify the sender of the delivery error by

Most browsers have spellcheck built in already... as for grammar check, it
doesn't seem like it would work too well in a ticket.
I do remember there being a free online spell/grammar check that you could call
from web apps, can't think of the name of it off hand (not even sure it's still

The way I see it...
When you draw that line and say NO MORE DDE or, more to this point,
NO MORE USER TOOL, there are people that will never cross that line
and will actually get left behind of their own accord.
You can't always just
in production. As a result of this
improvements users that connects to ARS using Mid-Tier, sporadically,
experience errors ( ARERR 90 91). The same users experience NO problems if
they use BMC-Remedy user tool.

I am trying to figure out the OLE Automation in Remedy 7.1/Windows.
I looked thru the API documentation, and it was a good start in understanding
how Remedy uses OLE, but it doesn't help much in actually building. The sample
app didn't work, I think because I didn't have the OLE

versions of remedy client accessing certain versions of OLE automation
server on the client side. You didnt mention the version of remedy client
and patch #. I believe this issue was resolved with version 7.0 and above.

grab and map the correct data, but I was hoping to be able to do it
myself from within Remedy.

As long as he has the Remedy ODBC installed on the client PC that needs
to query the ARSystem he will be ok.
The Get External Data menu choice in Excel will be the starting point to
create the appropriate query and that will stay with the spreadsheet.

It took 4 OLE Actions in an Active Link.
If memory serves there was a problem with opening Outlook via OLE in a
6.3 Patch 18 client, but it seemed ok in the ARS 7 client (User Tool).

You did not state where the Word or PDF document is. If it's in an
attachment I guess you should look at the PERFORM-ACTION-OPEN-ATTACHMENT
special Run Process command.
If the attachment is on a network
, not sure what that is these days since I was out of step with the OLE process. Hopefully someone will jump in with the correct way.

think that it should not. You should not be able to run an OLE object from
within a web browser. However, if it is an ActiveX control and you did not
disable these, it may be possible, on a Windows system, to process spell
checking.
