I found another Tennessee Warbler by the swan pen, and I think that there

On Sunday evening, I saw a gray-morph EASTERN SCREECH-OWL roosting at the
hole of our nest box, intensely scanning the darkening landscape, then
flying out at 6:35 PM. This was my first screech-owl sighting in the yard
since a three-day run in early December 2015.

PS. The weather forecast for this weekend’s Finger Lakes Land Trust
Spring Bird Quest is less than ideal (heat on Saturday, thunderstorms on
Sunday and Monday). I will still plan to go to the sites at the
migrant.
I’m hopeful that the weather tomorrow morning will cooperate long enough to
allow for a safe and fun (and maybe even dry) walk at the new Houghton Land
Preserve along Spencer Hill Road in Corning, starting at 8 AM. I look

the Great Blue Heron drama that Chris Pelkie witnessed. When I
passed by the pond at 8:40, I saw just one heron, her head sticking up from
the nest on the tallest snag.

Simsbury Drive in northeast Ithaca. This bird's trajectory was taking it
straight to Cayuga Heights, where this species has bred in recent years. I
also saw a COMMON LOON flying high toward the lake.

passasge-migrant Catharus seen with this bird) and heard countersinging
YELLOW-THROATED VIREOS by the shelter at the Severinghaus/Wilson
intersection.

Finally, to add to yesterday's prodigious Tennessee Warbler totals from the
Hawthorn Orchard and other locations, I'll note that I also heard this
species on Saturday at Tutelo Park and Cass Park in Ithaca. I imagine that
one could find them all over town even to
t-sided, Yellow, and American Redstart also available for
outstanding looks nearby with a mere turn of the head. BLACK-THROATED GREEN
WARBLER along the Woodleton Boardwalk brings the day's warbler tally to at
least 16 species.

perched up near the top of a shrub right next
to the trail for thirty thrilling seconds, singing and chipping, turning
often for fine views from multiple angles. It may have been the most
surprising and satisfying warbler sighting I've ever had on the Dryden side
of Sapsucker Woods.
