Referencing a CFC above the calling file.

2007-02-05 Thread Andy Matthews
I know how to instantiate a CFC if it's in the same (or sub) folder as the calling file: myCFC = CreateObject(component, includes.myCFC); But how would you reference a CFC living in a directory ABOVE the calling file. Assuming the paths below: utilities [dir] common.cfc [file] www [dir]

The dot.delimited.path.from.the.webroot should work, but i think you're indicating that it's outside of the webroot? If so, you can move it under the webroot, or find a way to create a mapping to it. On 2/5/07, Andy Matthews [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I know how to instantiate a CFC if it's in

Well, it's sort of irrelevant that it's outside the web root (or is it). The important thing is that the CFC exists ABOVE the calling page. How can you create a path using dot notation to a file that's above your calling page? -Original Message- From: Nando [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

No, it's quite relevant. From the docs: If you use a cfinvoke or cfobject tag, or the CreateObject function, to access the CFC from a CFML page, ColdFusion searches directories in the following order: 1. Local directory of the calling CFML page 2. Web root 3. Directories specified on the Custom

Well for WDDX I'd just suggest reading the docs. It really is pretty trivial. You use the WDDX tag to serialize a CF variable into an XML string. THen you use the WDDX tag to deserialize it. So your application.cfm (or Soundings I should say), would look for client.surveypacket variable, as an
